3 Detained In Sean Taylor Slaying

Police have detained at least three people in the Fort Myers area for questioning in the death of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor. Investigators believe the suspects learned of Taylor's house through someone who unwittingly set up the burglary by bragging about his wealth. The suspects include two teenagers and a man in his 20s, all from the Fort Myers area. Richard Sharpstein, a former Taylor lawyer and family friend, confirmed the law enforcement report. "It's my understanding that three individuals are in custody. A house is being searched," Sharpstein said, without disclosing who had given him the information. He repeated previous statements that the burglary did not appear to be random and that the 24-year-old's house had been targeted.

Mannie Fresh Sister Shot And Killed

Family members of a woman shot and killed in her Algiers home tell Eyewitness News she is the sister of New Orleans rapper Mannie Fresh. Police said the 41-year-old woman, identified by family members as Angela Bryant, was found dead in her home in the 1000 block of Farragut Street around 8 a.m. Thursday from an apparent gunshot wound, although police believe she was gunned down sometime late Wednesday evening. Police said two children - ages three and seven - were at the home at the time of the shooting. Both were found unharmed and safe.Police have asked for the public's help in locating the victim's vehicle - which is missing. It was described as a black 1998 Lexus LS 300 with license plate PTF 205 - it has black tinted windows.

Police in Southern California say Rodney King was riding his bike around San Bernardino and got hit in the face and arm with some shotgun pellets. His wounds are not life threatening and cops say after being shot, Rodney rode his bike home and called the cops but refused to cooperate with them once they arrived. Baby Has An 18 Year Old Wife?

Baby from Cash Money records got arrested the other night along with 16 other people when a rented RV he was riding in made an improper lane change, got pulled over and the cops smelled weed. They ended up finding a pound of weed and some guns. No surprises there. What threw me off is one of the passengers was listed as Baby's wife, 18 year old Brittany Williams. Trouble For T.I.

Prosecutors claim they have three documented occasions of T.I. possessing a gun as a felon including a December 2001 arrest in Atlanta where the rapper gave a fake name and was carrying a 9mm pistol. The arrest did not result in criminal conviction. The other two instances in which T.I. was caught in possessions of firearm were on November 1st 2002 in Henry County and search of his home in Fulton County on December 18th, 2004. T.I. netted a felony record when he was busted for drug dealing at 17 years old. He was sentenced to seven years' probation, which he violated and was eventually jailed for. The rapper's lawyer's argue that their client's car was searched without a warrant, consent or probable cause. They also allege that the arresting agents failed to honor T.I.’s rights and that their detention of the rapper was improper. They also claim that the statements made by T.I. may have not been voluntary.

Fabolous Placed At Club

A club promoter said he saw rapper Fabolous at the Manhattan hot spot Duvet the night a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death there. "Fabolous was there. He came in with about a dozen people between midnight and 12:30 a.m.," said Andre Faria, whose company, Party Time NYC, provides promotions for the club. "He brought the guy who was murdered with him, as part of his crew." Faria said Fabolous left about 2 a.m. Friday, before the stabbing, saying he had a family obligation. Fabolous was giving security a hard time because they were frisking everyone, including the women with him, Faria said. At first, security wasn't going to allow the group in because they weren't "dressed to impress, like the place wants," Faria said. They were instead wearing baggy jeans and sneakers. Sometime after Fabolous left, two women who were part of his crew got into a fight. Faria said witnesses told him that McKinney was stabbed trying to break up the fight. Faria said his company had invited Fabolous to the club.

Macy's is suing Kimora Lee Simmons for trying to be slick. According to the lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court last week, Kimora signed an agreement to provide Macy's with her line of cosmetics, and then jacked up the price after the deal was done. Macy's claimed once they noticed the oversight, Kimmie refused to return the extra dough.

Aviwe's father says Oprah spoke to their family by phone for two minutes and promised to meet with them privately, but never did. Aviwe has not returned to the school for fear of retribution and her father says, "Even if the staff has been changed, she feels betrayed. No amount of money can ever heal the harm our daughter has experienced." In the mean time Aviwe's father has vowed to "sell apples and oranges on the street in order to make sure his daughter has a chance to succeed."

Steve Harvey's ex-wife Mary is suing his ass. In papers filed in Harris County court, Mary alleges she was tricked into a low divorce settlement by her and Steve's lawyer. That's right the couple's long time attorney represented both sides in their divorce and told Mary that legally she was only entitled to $1,000.00 in monthly child support and that she couldn't hire her own lawyer. Vick Ordered To Pay For Dogs Upkeep

Michael Vick's "deteriorating financial condition" prompted federal prosecutors to ask a judge to order the beleaguered NFL superstar to set aside nearly $1 million for the care of pit bulls seized from his dogfighting operation.

In court papers filed yesterday, the government asked federal Judge Henry Hudson to issue a restraining order that essentially would freeze about $928,000 to fulfill Vick's legal obligation to cover the costs of caring for the dogs and finding homes for them.

Prosecutors cited claims by Vick's creditors and former employer that threaten his ability to make good:

* An arbitrator's ruling that the quarterback should repay the Atlanta Falcons a $20 million bonus.
* A lawsuit by Wachovia Bank claiming Vick and others defaulted on a $1.3 million loan for a wine store.
* Royal Bank of Canada's lawsuit seeking payment for default on a $2.5 million credit line.
* A lawsuit by 1st Source Bank of South Bend, Ind., seeking at least $2 million for loans involving a rental-car business.

Dr. Adams Pulls Out

Dr. Jan Adams waited until the very last minute to bail on Larry King. The show started with Larry saying that Dr. Adams was late getting to the studio, but that he would still be on the show. Then Larry said Dr. Adams had received a strongly worded letter from Dr. West's family imploring him not to speak about the surgery. Then Dr. Adams came on set and said he would speak only about himself and all untruths written him in the press, but moments later he walked off the set, saying he would honor the West family's wishes that he not say anything.

Suge Added To Wrongful Death Suit

A federal judge has allowed the family of Notorious B.I.G. to include Deathrow founder Suge Knight and various Los Angeles authorities as defendants in their wrongful-death lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles. B.I.G., whose real name is Christopher Wallace, was shot and killed on March 9, 1997 after a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
The Wallace’s lawsuit accuses two convicted cops, Raphael Perez and David Mack, of conspiring with Knight and a former LAPD officer, Reggie Wright, Jr., to kill B.I.G. The suit also claims the city of L.A. helped cover up the involvement of the aforementioned cops in B.I.G.’s murder because it would have made them liable in a lawsuit. According to The Associated Press, U.S. District Court Judge Florence-Marie Cooper ruled Friday (November 16) that the Wallace family can amend the lawsuit because new evidence shows Perez was on duty the night of B.I.G.'s slaying and may have been at the scene. Cooper, who declared a mistrial in the Wallace’s first lawsuit against L.A. in 2005, also revealed that the new evidence which was found after the mistrial shows that Knight, Wright and three other LAPD detectives may have been involved in B.I.G’s slaying. An attorney representing Los Angeles, Thomas Reichert, called the new evidence “old wine, new bottles”

One Day Sentence

Mike Tyson was sentenced to 24 hours in jail and three years‘ probation for drug possession and driving under the influence. Tyson faced a possible maximum sentence of four years and three months in prison. Police pulled him over after he'd spent the evening at Scottsdale‘s Pussycat Lounge. An officer said he saw Tyson wiping a white substance off the dashboard of his black BMW, and that his speech was slurred. Tyson told officers later that he used cocaine "whenever I can get my hands on it," and that he preferred to smoke it in Marlboro cigarettes with the tobacco pulled out, according to court documents. He also told police that he used marijuana that day and was taking the antidepressant Zoloft.

Only a week after his mother's death, Kanye West returned to the concert stage Saturday night in Paris and broke down on stage. Nearing the end of the more than 60-minute performance, with the riff of "Hey Mama" beginning, West attempted to introduce the tribute to a sold-out crowd at Le Zénith in Paris, saying "this song is for my mother...." and could get no further.

"He said the word, 'Mother' and just couldn't go any further," Le Parisien journalist Meddy Magloire said. "A back-up singer, the DJ and a guitar player came over to console him. It looked like he might collapse. He just couldn't continue. He just stood there in a spotlight, crying while the band continued playing." After a few moments of stunned silence, Magloire says, the audience of 5,000 reacted by offering calls of encouragement, which grew into applause. Trying to recover onstage, West restarted the song but was unable to finish. He left the stage, returning after 10-15 minutes to conclude the concert with a rousing performance of "Stronger." "He was very nervous, seemed to have gathered himself up, and had a lot of energy," Magloire says. "He kept shouting out to the audience, 'I need you... I need you right now.' and the public was screaming back. It was magic."

R. Kelly's Publicist Quits

R Kelly's publicist of 14 years quit on his ass. She made some kind of cryptic statement about lines being crossed. Here's her resignation letter:

Although she got a $15 million dollar divorce settlement from Eddie Murphy, they say Nicole is going broke because she let her ex-boyfriend, Troy Stratos, take control of her money, even putting the $6 million house she got in her divorce in his name. They say Troy took out a mortgage on the house to launch an Internet jewelry business and then defaulted on millions in loans, instead using the money to finance his lavish lifestyle.

A company that handles royalties and income from commercials and other projects for James Brown's estate has significantly less money than it should, a lawyer for the late soul singer's family said. Much of the money that was supposed to be going to James Brown Enterprise Inc. instead ended up in a company established by a former trustee accused of misappropriating $7 million from the singer, attorney Louis Levenson said Thursday after a court hearing to sort through Brown's finances. The company collected money earned by Brown's endeavors while he was alive and continued to do so after he died on Christmas, but never gave the money to the singer, Levenson said. David Cannon, who quit working for the estate in August after being accused of taking money from it, testified that Brown's work earned millions of dollars a year. He said he would give Brown $100,000 a month for "walking-around spending money" because the singer had difficulty managing his finances.

The Los Angeles County coroner has revealed the location where Dr. Jan Adams performed surgery on Dr. West. According to reports, the procedures took place at Brentwood Surgery Center, described as "a low-rent storefront clinic perched above a FedEx Kinko's store in a West Los Angeles strip mall."

Barry Bonds Indicted

Barry Bonds was indicted Thursday for perjury and obstruction of justice, charged with lying when he told a federal grand jury that he did not knowingly use performance-enhancing drugs. The indictment, unsealed Thursday by federal prosecutors in San Francisco, is the culmination of a four-year federal probe into whether he lied under oath to a grand jury investigating steroid use by elite athletes. The indictment comes three months after the 43-year-old Bonds, one of the biggest names in professional sports, passed Hank Aaron to become baseball's career home run leader, his sport's most hallowed record. Bonds, who parted ways with the San Francisco Giants at the end of last season and has yet to sign with another team, also holds the game's single-season home run record of 73.

Dude Suing Diddy For Rights To Biggie Songs Sues Him Again

Remember that guy, James Sabatino, who's suing Diddy for 19 million dollars claiming he owns the rights to some audio and video footage of Biggie Smalls? He filed another suit against Diddy trying to make him stop mentioning an FBI investigation where James is mentioned in connection with that time Tupac got shot at the studio. In one of the FBI interrogation records, an unidentified informant who had ties to Tupac and Sabatino, told authorities in an interview held six years after Tupac's death that he was inside the Quad Studio when Tupac was shot in 1994. The informant told authorities that Sabatino appeared unconcerned when shots were heard and yelled ‘Get that piece of shit out of here!’ when a bloodied Tupac appeared in the studio. The informant also claimed that Sabatino said that Tupac needed to be ‘dealt with’. James says Diddy is circulating the FBI records ‘as part of smear campaign against him.’

The preliminary hearings are over and after three of the five guys who helped OJ pull his heist testified against him, he was hit with 12 charges including kidnapping and armed robbery. A conviction on the kidnapping count could put him in jail for life. The trial is not expected to start until next year.

Oscar Getting Sued

That stripper who sold those pictures of Oscar de la Hoya dressed in drag is suing his ass. Milana Dravnel is filing the papers in Manhattan state Supreme Court against de la Hoya and two unnamed defendants for alleged fraud, defamation, interference with contract, infliction of emotional distress and undue influence, her lawyer said. "[They] did everything [they] could to thwart her being able to sell this, saying they weren't real, photo-shopped, and that she didn't know what she was doing . . . that she was just a stripper," said her high-powered attorney Salvatore Strazullo. He says people in de la Hoya's camp contacted his client and threatened her to keep silent and keep the damaging photographs to herself. "There were so many people involved. Phone calls from people saying they were FBI agents or speaking on behalf of FBI agents. They did everything," Strazullo said. "It's the perfect case of David against Goliath and she got Goliath Junior on their case." When the pictures emerged publicly in September, Dravnel sold them for $70,000 to a West Coast photo agency. De la Hoya's camp denied they were real and insisted they had been doctored.

Gabrielle Union, Nia Long, and Sanaa Lathan are in the current issue of Essence magazine and I'm sure they talk about a lot of interesting things, but um, I didn't read it. Anyway, here's what they say about black gossip blogs:

Sanaa: That are run by Black women.
Gabrielle: And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits, the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking, no nothing. And in one week’s time, there were like five different dudes, a baby—I’m a homewrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t care about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in front of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t care about us in that way. So when you hear crap about us, it is coming from our own community, which hurts.
Nia: We are some of the few Black actresses whose passions are rooted in our community.
Gabrielle: There is this idea that there is integrity in journalism; if it’s written it has to be true. But that’s not the case. When blogs or any of the magazines get it wrong, there’s no accountability. In the next breath, they’ll complain on the blogs that we don’t have enough Black stars. Ok, so yesterday I read that NY Knicks coah Isiah Thomas and Madison Square Garden chairman Thomas Dolan were trying to decide whether or not to cut Stephon Murbury's playing time. Another woman suing Dr. Jan claims he told her he was board certified and others say while he claims to have graduated from Harvard Medical School, public record show he received his MD from Ohio State University.

Remy Ma’s pretrial hearing will take place early next week. Charged with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and tampering with a witness, she has denied all charges. Lionsgate announced that the cable television rights to "Why Did I Get Married?" has been sold to TBS. The mother of a school girl at Oprah's Leadership Academy says the abuser, 27-year-old Tiny Makopo, once tried to get in bed, under the blanket, with her daughter’s roommate. The daughter was not in the room at the time, but said her roommate told her the story. The parent also said her daughter heard other girls at the school claim a student walked into her room and saw Makopo lying on top of her roommate, in bed.

Tiny Makopo, faces 13 charges of indecent assault, assault and criminal injury committed against at least six students aged 13-15 and a 23-year-old at the school. Makopo said she was innocent when the charges were read during a bail hearing in Johannesburg, and the magistrate allowed her to go free on a $450 bond.

Feds Knew About OJ Heist 3 Weeks In Advance

Federal agents learned three weeks in advance that O.J. Simpson and a memorabilia dealer planned an operation to retrieve personal items Simpson said were stolen from him, according to FBI reports obtained Friday by The Associated Press. Dealer Thomas Riccio told FBI agents Aug. 21 that Simpson wanted to televise the operation as he confronted a collector who was peddling thousands of pieces of Simpson's memorabilia. But Riccio was not clear how the operation would unfold, and there was no mention in the report of guns that were allegedly drawn as Simpson and five other men stormed a Las Vegas hotel room. Riccio was advised to contact a lawyer before taking any action and was told that alerting the FBI would not absolve him of any potential crime, agent Linda Kline wrote of the meeting, which occurred in Los Angeles. "I went along with O.J.'s plan," Riccio told the AP on Friday. "It was a self-organized sting operation. Except for the final result, with him bringing people who had guns. Dude Arrested For Defacing Tupac Statue Charged With Felony

A couple of weeks ago the Tupac statue in the Peace garden at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation in Georgia was defaced. People immediately assumed it was a hate crime because the statue had what appeared to be a noose around its neck, was plastered with racsist notes and had a pair of draws strewn across its head. The night after the inital vandalism, the guy came back to do more damage and was caught by security. The dude they arrested turned out to be black, drunk and rambling about how he wanted to talk to Tupac. Anyway, the dude, 43-year-old Kenneth Anthony Wilson, was charged Thursday (November 1) with second-degree criminal damage to property, a felony. He is currently being held at the DeKalb County jail under a $1,500 bond.

Brat Released On Bail

The rapper, whose real name is Shantae Harris, was released from jail about 10:20 p.m. Thursday after posting $50,000 bond. According to witnesses, the 33-year-old rapper got into an altercation involving pushing with a waitress at Jermaine Dupri's club Studio 72. Ater the pushing, the waitress walked away, and a short time later, Brat picked up a bottle and hit the waitress in the face with it. The rum bottle broke, causing a "deep laceration" to the 23-year-old woman's cheek. The waitress also had swelling to her forehead, and was taken by friends to a local hospital.

Arrest Made In Oprah School Abuse Case

A 27-year-old former housemother has been arrested after Oprah flew to South Africa to speak to the parents and oversee the investigation of child abuse allegations at her Leadership Academy for Girls. At least seven victims have submitted statements and several charges, including alleged assault, indecent assault, criminal injury and soliciting underage girls to perform indecent acts are being investigated against the woman. She is being held by police and is expected to appear in Sebokeng magistrate's court, south of Johannesburg, on Monday. Oprah reportedly gave each girl in the school her phone number, her email address and a cell phone to call her in case of emergencies.

Weezy Pleads Not Guilty In Fulton County Court

Lil Wayne entered a not guilty plea to three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance at a preliminary hearing in Fulton County Court yesterday. The charges stem from the rapper’s 2006 arrest at Atlanta’s Twelve Hotel where authorities found marijuana and prescription pills in Wayne’s room after being tipped off by a hotel employee.
