Lil Wayne tells MTV's Sway that he's been hearing about how he needs to cut back on syrup in the wake of Pimp C's death in December. C's death was ruled accidental and due to a deadly combination of syrup and his sleep-apnea condition. A couple Sunday nights ago, during a concert in Newark, New Jersey, Wayne explained to the audience that sipping syrup — a combination made up chiefly of promethazine and codeine, which is supposed to be prescribed by doctors for severe colds and pneumonia — is a part of the culture in the South (although Philadelphia is also notorious for syrup). He also talked about how he gets flak for it. Wayne says, "I'm going through that same shit with my friends, with my mom. Everybody wants me to stop all this and all that. It ain't that easy." Weezy said he can't just quit cold turkey. "Do your history, do your research," he vented. "It ain't that easy — feels like death in your stomach when you stop doing that shit. You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox. You gotta do all kinds of stuff. Like I said, I'm a selfish-ass niggaa. I feel like everything I do is successful and productive. It's gonna be hard to tell me I'm slipping. It's hard to sit and tell a nigga 'Stop.' 'Fuck, how can we tell this nigga to stop when every fucking thing he do is successful? This nigga is making progress. He just went and talked to kids and that shit was amazing.' Feel me? So what am I doing wrong? Let me do me. Everybody's got their thing," he continued with frustration. "Why focus on me? Don't compare me to no one. Don't compare me to no one who has passed, and why they passed. I can walk out this bitch right now and get hit by a bus. Don't judge me. You wanna judge me, put on a black gown and get a gavel. Get in line with the rest of them that's about to judge me. I got court dates every other month. It's me against the world — that's how I feel." Friday, February 29, 2008

Former Bad Boy artist, Shyne, is getting out of jail a year early for good behavior. Shyne has been serving a 10-year sentence at Woodbourne Correctional Facility stemming from a 1999 New York Club shooting. Shyne was part of a group with P. Diddy and his then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez. Mathew "Scar" Allen and three people were hit with bullets when a gun went off in the club. Shyne signed a $3 million dollar deal with Def Jam from behind bars in 2004 and released the album "Godfather Buried Alive" but album sales were dismal. Though being released for good behavior, Shyne hasn't always been a model prisoner. In '05 he was thrown in the hole for two months after getting into an altercation with another inmate. And by the way, did you know Shyne's father, Dean Barrow, was recently elected prime minister of Belize, and is the first black person to hold that office?

Mystikal Denied Parole
Mystikal, is serving an 6-year sentence for sexual battery and extortion, after he forced his hairstylist to perform sexual acts on him and videotaped the incident, after the woman allegedly stole $80,000 in checks. The parole board’s ruling means that the chart-topping rapper, who has been incarcerated since 2003, will in all likelihood finish out his full sentence, which equates to roughly two years. The rapper, born Michael Tyler, is jailed in Homer, Louisiana.Prosecutors Want Ja Rule's DNA
Manhattan prosecutors said yesterday they want to swab the cheeks of rapper Ja Rule to see if his DNA matches a sample they've found on a .40-caliber Taurus handgun seized from his Mercedes Maybach on the Upper West Side last year. The DNA was recovered from the butt of the loaded, unlicensed weapon - an unusual forensic circumstance prosecutors hope will pin possession definitively on the rapper or either of his co-defendants, driver Mohamed Gamal and passenger Dennis Cherry. Ja Rule and his co-defendants pleaded not guilty in Manhattan Supreme Court yesterday, and are fighting the swab request.
It has also been ruled that Ja's co-defendants in his gun possession case must pay their own bail, revoking prior arrangements made by Ja Rule. Ja posted Gamal and Cherry's combined $170,000 bond, as well as his own $150,000 bond, using his $3.5 million Saddle River, NJ home as collateral. Attorney Stacey Richman, who represents all three men, said the defense would make other arrangements for Gamal and Cherry's bail.Richman also represents Lil' Wayne, who was arrested on similar charges an hour after Ja Rule, and pleaded not guilty in his case on Monday (Feb 25).

If Michael Jackson doesn't come up with $25 million dollars by March 19th, Neverland Ranch is going on the auction block. And it's not just the house either. The Neverland auction will include everything: all personal property inside, all fixtures and appliances, furniture, and "all merry go round type devices," rides and games. The auction will include every thing that is or isn't nailed down. Michael hasn't been at Neverland since June 30, 2005, when he left for Bahrain. No one lives there, the animals in the zoo are all gone and most of the rides have either been sold or shut down.

Oh my damn. Your boy Neyo got pulled over doing 100 mph in Cobb County Georgia and got arrested for reckless driving and driving without a valid license. When will these celebs learn?
Is Anybody Surprised
That Snoop Dog got busted smoking weed outside a New York City club this week? S-N-double-O-P was handed a desk-appearance ticket outside a Manhattan nightclub Wednesday night. "He did not get arrested. He received a ticket for possession of marijuana. We are contesting the ticket." said his lawyer, Donald Etra. Snoop does have a California permit to smoke weed for migranes, but you know he's on probation for five years following that no-contest plea back in April 2007 to marijuana- and gun-possession charges after being arrested at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, Calif., in October 2006. Good luck with that, Snoop.

Tank's People Release A Statement

R&B artist Tank (Durrell Babbs) was a victim of police brutality in New Orleans on Sunday, February 17, 2008. The incident is under investigation and more detailed information is forthcoming.
Around 1:30 am on Sunday night a cheerful Tank departed from The House of Blues in search for his driver. Unfamiliar with the area of New Orleans, the Los Angeles resident asked security for directions to Iberville; where his driver was parked. Tank and a business associate, Ira Dewitt, followed the directions given. Briskly walking down the cold streets, Tank proceeded to turn the corner as directed by the previous officer. As he identified the whereabouts of his car he was halted by a New Orleans Police Officer who demanded he turn around and go a different direction to get to his car.In an attempt to gain understanding and calm the tension, Tank assured the officer that they were not a threat; they only wanted to get to the car. With the vehicle in plain sight and one block away, Tank attempted to negotiate clearance for him and his business colleague to quickly walk to their driver. A snappy black Police officer told Tank he didn’t owe him any explanation and that he made himself clear. In an effort to find an alternate route to get to the vehicle, three white officers re-approached Tank questioning his actions. In disbelief, Tank asked them to explain in detail what they wanted. He was immediately pushed up against the wall with one arm on the wall and one arm bent behind his back, being held by the white officer, an aggravated officer repeatedly asked for Tank to put his other arm up on the wall as well. Repeatedly Tank told the officer he could not release his other arm pinned behind his back. The officer then proceeded to shoot Tank at point blank range with a taser gun. Thrust to the ground with pain, the officers warned Tank to never mess with the law in New Orleans. Tank was taken to the University Hospital; after being discharged the victim was immediately then taken to jail by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and charged with disturbing the peace, public drunkenness and resisting and obstructing an officer. “Tank has engaged the services of the Law Office of Bernard L. Charbonnet, Jr. in connection with the incident that occurred in New Orleans during the most recent NBA All Star activities. As this matter is currently under investigation, we are unable to comment as to the circumstances surrounding this representation at this time. However, my firm intends to vigorously protect his interest as we do for all of our clients,” confirmed Attorney Benard Charbonnet. In an effort to celebrate the rebuilding efforts of New Orleans and join the annual celebration of NBA All-Star, this was the last thing the R&B star expected. “The most frustrating part of the entire incident is knowing that I did not do anything to pose a threat but was treated like a criminal. With a clean-cut image and a lady by my side, the law took matters into their own hands and chose to endanger my safety and those accompanying me. It’s 2008 and New Orleans is still very much in trouble beyond the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I’m a living witness,” says a disgruntle Tank.
Maxine's Side Of The Story

The whole R Kelly and his publicist’s daughter scandal just keeps chugging right along, now Maxine wants to have her say. “The statement that was issued by R. Kelly’s camp, which I interpreted as an attempt to defame Regina and George Daniels, my dad and stepmom, has made it necessary for me to respond to some of those accusations: I take full responsibility for my actions. My stepmother and father didn’t know about my relationship with the singer because I knew and he knew that they wouldn’t approve … so I tried to keep it a secret, but when my stepmother found out about our relationship, she resigned because she felt that Rob had ‘crossed the line’ by dating a girl that he has known since she was 7 years old. My stepmom was not fired for incompetence. She was Rob’s publicist for 14 years and always considered Rob not just a client … but family. And Rob thought of my dad like a father."

Tank Got Tasered
Your boy Tank was in New Orleans for All-Star weekend and got into it with the NOLA PD and ended up on the ground shaking like a crack head after that first hit. Tank and his date were leaving The House of Blues after an All-Star event and found that the street they needed to go down was blocked off because of a shooting. Ok, just go another way right? Nope. You know celebs and pseudo-celebs don't think rules apply to them. So words were exchanged, Tank got tased and arrested. He was so messed up he had to be taken to the hospital before he went to jail. Now he's screaming police brutality and the whole nine. He was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He's due in court Feb. 19.

They Say

Kimora Lee refused to allow Russell's new girlfriend Porschla Coleman to attend her Baby Phat show during Fashion Week "because she doesn't want Porschla to be photographed with her children."
R Kelly Says Stepmother Knew
Last November R Kelly's longtime publicist, Regina Daniels, abruptly quit on him after issuing a cryptic public statement about Kelly "crossing professional lines". That scandal had all but died down when last week, Regina's husband George thought it was a good idea to go on the radio and confirm all the, up till now, unconfirmed nasty rumors about R Kelly and his daughter Maxine. George told Los Angeles radio station KJLH, "He [Kelly] crossed the line with my daughter [Maxine]. It didn’t get to the extreme of that [sex tape] video or else I wouldn’t be here, if you know what I’m talking about.” Maxine, who was 21 when the relationship occurred, is still in college at Northern Illinois University and “doing very well.” Though his daughter was of legal age, he says Kelly still took advantage of her. “When you’re 21, and if you’ve been there already like I’ve been many years ago, you’re still 15 to 16 mentally. You’re vulnerable,” Daniels explained. R Kelly's people paint a different picture. In a statement released to the press Kelly's camp declares, "It's hard to take seriously the moral outrage expressed by George and Regina Daniels over R. Kelly's relationship with Mr. Daniels' adult daughter, Maxine. The fact is that they had no problem with the relationship -- indeed, they encouraged it -- while Ms. Daniels was on Mr. Kelly's payroll. It was Regina Daniels, then working as a publicist for Mr. Kelly, who persuaded him to attend her step-daughter's 21st birthday party. And it was Regina Daniels who shortly thereafter gave her step-daughter Mr. Kelly's private phone number, with the admonition: 'Don't tell your father.' It was only after Ms. Daniels resigned her position to avoid being fired for incompetence that her stepdaughter's relationship suddenly became an issue for her and her husband."
Yayo Gets Community Service For Slapping Kid
G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo is off the hook for hitting the 14-year-old son of a top producer for rival The Game. Yayo's co-defendant took full responsibility for socking the kid in March 2007. Yayo, real name Marvin Bernard, will serve 10 days of community service after admitting in Manhattan court that the only violation he committed was getting out of his car and glaring at the young victim - but did not laying a hand on him. Yayo's, lawyer Scott Leemon, insists he actually rushed to the victim's side to protect him. Co-defendant Lowell Fletcher, 29, pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of up-and-coming rapper Lil Henchman by striking him with the back of his ring-studded hand as he stood on a sidewalk at 25th Street and Sixth Avenue. Fletcher is already in jail on an unrelated Queens drug charge. The boy’s mother Cynthia Reed labeled Yayo’s crime against a minor as "despicable." "As much as Marvin Bernard tried to wiggle his way out of his role in assaulting my son, who is a minor, he had to accept responsibility to accept a plea deal," Ms. Reed stated. "He couldn't hide behind 50 Cent, G-Unit, Violator management or his co-defendant. This malicious crime against a child is despicable and any industry sponsor or company that supports individuals like Tony Yayo should remove themselves from a relationship with him and his affiliated entities." Ms. Reed demanded an apology from rap superstar 50 Cent, who denied that Yayo was involved in the incident.

Having 50's Baby Will Not Make You A Millionaire
See that look on 50's baby mama Shaniqua's face? Now imagine that look on 10! Cause I can guarantee you she's hot right now. Ok, so remember when 50 took Shaniqua to court because she kept asking for more and more child support money for their son Marquis? 50 had been willingly giving her $15,000 a month but she wanted $50,000, so the courts told 50 to give her $25,000 a month until the case got settled? Well the courts decided, after going through Shaniqua's and Marquis' expenses, that all she really needed was $6,700 a month. 50's lawyer, Brett Kimmel, said, "My client and I are very happy with the ruling. Remy Is So Gangsta
According to Illseed at All Hip Hop, Remy Ma ran up on that dude Cliffy Barz. You know, the one who put out the video of that stud chick talking about how she ate Remy's box. Somebody told Ill, they were in the club with Gain Green and Max B, when Barz asked Max for a interview. Max said cool and proceeded to go in on Jim Jones and other topics. Out of nowhere Remy appears and stands in front of Barz’s camera man and says, "Cliffy Barz gets no more interviews with anyone until further notice." She said something to Max and 'em about the video Cliffy did with the stud and out of respect for Remy and her situation Max and Gain Greene ended the interview. Then Remy flipped on Cliffy. She got all in his face but he had nothing to say. His cameraman said some shit to Remy's bodyguard, who invited him to go to the bathroom to settle it. The bodyguard did not take him up on his offer.

Gary Coleman Got Married Y'all!
Ok, so remember last August when Gary Coleman was yelling at his girlfriend in a Utah parking lot and she called the cops on his ass and he got a ticket for disorderly conduct? Gary married her, the same month she called the cops on him. It seems Gary finally got his chance No Break For Ron Isley

An appellate court has upheld Ronald Isley's 37-month federal prison sentence for tax evasion. The three-judge panel rejected the 66-year-old R&B singer's argument that his sentence was unreasonable due to his age, poor health and lack of proof that the federal prison system can provide him adequate health care. In its ruling, the appellate court said the trial judge was correct in sentencing and "best balanced the need to sanction Mr. Isley's `pathological' tax evasion against the need to accommodate Mr. Isley's poor health." Isley was sentenced in 2006 after being convicted of five counts of tax evasion and one count of willful failure to file a tax return. Prosecutors said Isley avoided paying taxes numerous times over a three-year period and declared bankruptcy after the IRS seized his yacht, cars and other property in 1997.
He was discharged from bankruptcy four years later, but then did not file tax returns for the years 1997 to 2001 and in 2002 did not sign his return and failed to pay all taxes due. Isley suffered a minor stroke in July 2004, but got married one year later and continuously performed concerts at that time. He is incarcerated at the Terre Haute Federal Corrections Institution in Indiana and his projected release date is in April 2010.

James Brown Estate Legal News
Last week, an attorney for five of James Brown’s children questioned the late soul singer’s ex-trustees during a court hearing on whether they hid one of Brown’s earlier wills. The former trustees dismissed the allegation, saying the only valid will was the one filed in 2000, which left clothes, jewelry, boats and automobiles for Brown’s six adult children. The children were largely left out of the financial portion of that will, which leaves the bulk of the soul singer’s money to charitable trusts. Attorneys for the children argue that earlier wills drafted by their father cast doubt on whether he truly wanted to leave his estate to charity. Ex-trustee Alford Bradley, who spent years handling Brown’s financial affairs, said the singer changed his will several times. When Mr. Brown would fall out with somebody, he would change his will," Bradley said.

Washington Wizard Gilbert Arenas reveals, "When I was new in the NBA the team veterans convinced me to shave, you know, down there, because they said the hair stinks. I used my girlfriend's razor, which was rusty and gave me keloids. The doctor prescribed medicine to dab on, but I just poured it all over. Three days later I woke up screaming. The skin was burnt off my scrotum, down to my crack, everything -- just raw flesh. I still had to run and play, so I used a numbing spray for a month until it healed. Now I use clippers."

Brandy's Mama Says

"I did not want to commence litigation against the Kardashian family without conducting an exhaustive investigation into the charges, and discussing all options, including criminal prosecution, with my family. After Ray J and Brandy urged me not to file criminal charges because of their prior friendship, I decided to afford the Kardashians an opportunity to resolve this matter without a lawsuit. When the fraudulent charges were brought to their attention, they apologized profusely, and advised us, through their attorneys, that they would pay the debt in full. However, they have since reneged on that promise. The investigation has revealed that the Kardashians used their two stores and other stores that I have never visited to take advantage of me. I very much look forward to having the Kardashians account for their misconduct in a court of law. I also welcome the examination of any so called evidence to determine whether it was fraudulently obtained or whether it constitutes a forgery."

The Game pleaded not guilty to felony gun charges when they were filed against him back in September '07, but recently changed his mind about taking his case to trial and changed his plea to guilty, even though he insists he's still innocent. He tells Monsta magazine, "The crazy part about this is that I've had guns before in my life. But this time I didn't have a gun. "Because one person said I had a gun and coaxed his homies into saying that I had a gun, I'm in a predicament where I'm asking, 'Do I want to spend another million dollars to fight this trial, so who knows what jury's gonna come in and say I'm guilty? Or do I want to save my money, go sit down for four months and accept this felony they're trying to give me for no reason?''

Charles Barkley told Playboy magazine that he plans to run for governor of Alabama, but won't ask for campaign help from Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. "I don't believe in them. We have to hold blacks more accountable for their actions" he says.

Brandy's Mama Suing Kim Kardashian
R&B singer Brandy Norwood's mother filed a lawsuit Monday against Kim Kardashian accusing her of running up more than $120,000 credit card charges without Brandy's permission. The suit, which also names Kardashian's siblings Khloe, Kourtney and Robert Jr., alleges they ran up the charges while Kim worked as Brandy's stylist in 2006 and 2007. It seeks the return of Brandy's money plus 10 percent interest. Kim Kardashian denied the allegations, claiming she and her siblings had Brandy's permission to make the purchases. "We have her signature on all items," Kardashian says. In the lawsuit, Brandy's mother, Sonja Norwood, who is also her manager, alleges Kim Kardashian had only been authorized in 2004 to make one purchase on Brandy's American Express card in Kim's then-capacity as a stylist. But later, Kardashian made unauthorized purchases and passed on Brandy's card number to her siblings, who also then made unauthorized purchases, including for items in two Kardashian family-owned clothing stores, Dash and Smooch, for a total of $120,636.

Aries Spears Got Arrested
I know, who cares right? But anyway, NYPD received a 911 call shortly after midnight Friday from a woman claiming Spears had fondled her at the Comix Comedy Club in Manhattan, where Spears had performed earlier. He was arrested just before 1:00 AM and taken to the station and booked. He received a desk appearance ticket and was released on his own recognizance. The comedy club had no comment on the incident, only to say that Spears would not be performing Saturday night (as had been scheduled) so that "he could deal with his personal issues."

Guilty (Kinda)
Actor and tax protester Wesley Snipes has been convicted of not filing federal returns from 1999-2004 but acquitted of more serious fraud and conspiracy charges. He could be sentenced to three years in prison. The IRS says Snipes owes $11 million. The jury returned the verdict on the third day of deliberations. He was accused by the government of trying to beat the IRS out of millions in tax payments.
Snipes and two co-defendants were indicted in 2006 for tax fraud and conspiracy. Snipes faced six additional counts of willful failure to file a tax return from 1999 to 2004, a period in which he signed two contracts for more than 10 million dollars on sequels in the "Blade" trilogy.
The star of the "Blade" films and "White Men Can't Jump" is among the most famous targets of an IRS criminal investigation, and his prosecution was key for the government. The actor used tax protest arguments long rejected by courts but still continuing to find adherents. For example, Snipes said the IRS's own code meant no citizen had to pay taxes on income earned in this country, and the agency had no legal authority to collect wages anyway, because it is not a proper government entity.
Monique A D-girl?
Monique's ex-boyfriend Marvin Dawson gave an interview to The National Enquirer and told all her business. Marvin and Monique were engaged to be married and lived together for 3 years until Monique found out Marvin had been arrested on theft and gun charges and kicked him to the curb. Anyway, Marvin told the Enquirer that not only was Monique an avid weed smoker and cocaine user, he claims she sells drugs and cheats on her taxes, too. He also said Monique threatened to kill him if he ever told any of her secrets. Monique calls Marvin a nut with no credibility. Not exactly a denial, but I'll take it.
