Derrick Coleman's Restaurant Evicted

Former Detroit Piston and rumored baby daddy of Flavor of Love winner Deelishis Derrick Coleman's Detroit restaurant 'Sweet Georgia Brown' got evicted from it's Greektown location for non-payment of rents. According to reports, the restaurant owed more than $70,000.00 in back rent and employees complained of bouncing paychecks. When contacted Derrick claimed not to know the restaurant was facing eviction but blamed it on the poor economy saying, "I am most concerned about my valued employees that have been with me from the beginning. I want to assist them in any way possible as my employees depend on me. With the economy, fine dining dollars are just not there -- especially in the City of Detroit. Businesses open and close every day, and it was news to me that Sweet Georgia Brown's would be evicted this morning. The workers are my main concern."

Well he certainly said the right things regarding his employees. I find it hard to believe a business owner would be completely unaware their own business was being evicted. That part is totally incredible. What I didn't read is what he plans to actually DO to help his employees.

if a celebrity is going to open a restaurant they should do appearances and some time actually eat there.

Fuck those high end restaurants. A MacDonald's franchise/chicken&waffles spot stays in business for decades.

I hate to be the voice of doom, but I guess we are who we are-this is going to be one of many closures and collapses we will witness in the coming times. Our economy won't turn around-the problem is a dependency on oil and production of the stuff has peaked and is now on a decline. We can't sustain our way of living any longer because our use of crude oil is exceeding sustainability. We're in Iraq and Afghanistan for this very reason.

My people, begin growing your own food locally if you can. When the trucks stop bringing in food to the mega-grocers, what other alternative will we have? If you live in an area with very little land, build garden boxes and start growing food and don't wait any longer. We need to begin building local economies that are self-sufficient because the collapse of the global economy is happening and it is real.

I hate to be the voice of doom, but if we act now, we can create ways to sustain ourselves-our government has failed us.

Prince, I hear you. I'm actually doing just that. everything we have here is brought in from somewhere else. Americans have this eliteist attitue, like we have to make everyone work for us. Well it's biting us all in the ass, now.

We're all in for a rude awakening.

We need to learn to be self-sufficient. Our ancestors did it for 400 years, right? We were supposed to learn from that.
