Now he wants the inspection company to cough up $3 million. 50 had been trying to sell the house for $18 million in 2007 and after getting no takers, lowered the price to $14 million and finally ended up taking if off the market altogether.

This is conneticut, these are hoity toity white people living there no whitey is going to buy a black man's home. Why did he think he got a low price as well when he purchased the home. As far as the appraiser there is nothing to sue for, he told u what needed to be repaired not nothing extra which he did from what I read in the nypost or nydailynews
Home inspectors don't generally tell you how much repairs cost, they just tell you what is wrong with the house. 50 is full of shi----er vitamin water.

MOST home inspectors try to shy away from giving you a firm estimate precisely because of situations like this. They don't want to be on the legal hook when your house becomes a money pit.

i don't think he's having a problem selling the house because he's black. i think he's having a problem selling the house because
1. he's asking way too much for it in this deflated economy
2. he made ridiculous additions to the home (i.e. adding a club complete with stripper pole <<--wtf?!) that scare away potential buyers

The home inspectors tells u about how much it might cost, it is up to the consumer when they do hire a contractor to stay at the estimated price. Contractors are in the business in ripping off people and when they saw it was 50 did he think they weren't going to?!?! And why did he pay the over price of the estimation? He's not making any sense.

Mike Tyson was selling the at almost 20 million at a goo market and no-one purchased it, then 50 showed up at steep discount on the purchasing price. I'm telling u whitey is not going to buy it it needs to be razed and start all over. He will have to sell maybe lower than the price he purchased it for.
