okay, let's be honest, this movie features a bunch of b-list black actors and it doesn't look very good, but i may netflix it on gp for support.
more than anything, i'm glad to see that maia campbell is doing good. perhaps acting is the thing that keeps her together. we've all got something. i hope she stays well. now if we could only bring home those other sistas that are lost in the streets that aren't famous...
Why does Ray J still seem like he's about 16 or 17? And this shit, if I'm not mistaken, was supposed to come out about a year or so ago. I'm hurt to see my man AZ in this pile shit on top of shit, but they paid him so eff it. Maia Campbell really needs to see this so that she can HOPEFULLY have a moment of clarity and seek some kind of help.
This "movie", if you will, was probably filmed well before Maia's infamous, drugged out meltdown, but she was probably still "under the influence" while it was being filmed.
Well said 9:50. This is far from Oscar worthy but I will support this film for my girl Maia. She was so promising back in the day and I hope she makes a comeback and turns her life around.
I just can't. Now LisaRaye McCoy is LisaRaye? She's never going to shed that Diamond typecast.
Glad to see Maia is getting help. *Wondering when this was shot. It wasn't that long ago that she doing youtube.*
What is the name of this not-good-enough-for-the-box-office flick?
when was this filmed? It looks horrible, but I would support it for Maia Campbell and even AZ... nice to see her acting.
Strip clubs, shootings, money and sex.. Here we go again.
FAIL..
I know that is a "B" movie, but someone pleeeese come up with a better story line..
Black people do live in other ways you know.
Tell me there is no Lisa-Raye and Al Sharpton love scene.
If black people don't want to see stuff like this, guess what, there won't be a demand for it.
And if we are willing to pay for it, then we wanna see it.
Supply and demand, baby. I can't hate.
*shrug*
dedication: Olivia by the Whispers goes out to all the "lost ones" out there in the streets.
co-sign with 9:50 they are mothers, sisters, daughters, cousins, aunties, best friends etc...
they do what they do, but they are NOT what they do...they just trying to survive.
example: is a garbage man low life because he picks up the garbage? no...he's tryin to eat and let's face it azz gon sell when cotton and corn won't!
B list? girl non of these people are on any list when it comes to acting but i swear my reality is different, i swear i see educated black men around my campus living completely different lives from whats depicted in these types of films, i swear black people are doing better, more, and contributing to society than the tired hood degenerates portrayed in almost every black move. i guess i'm living in a bubble. but i do support mia getting better.
too old to watch this BS!
same storyline as hundreds of other "urban" movies but different actors. this is why i try to catch the Independent Films.
I'll watch it just because Beyonce's not in it.
DMX and Lil Kim shoud've been in this too.
Damn Maia Campbell and Chico DeBarge! I think that should answer any ?s about when she really got out there (drugs).
WTH!!!!!
Movie about the has beens and never was!
WTH? I want that 30seconds of my time back for viewing this clip of coonery.
LisaRaye? please.
another one of those annual ghetto/hood movies that go straight-to-vhs every year. PASS....
Another hood drama!! *claps slowly* sorry I need my brain cells for more serious life issues.
They filmed this movie like 3 years ago in Detroit
Hell naw thats Mr.Humphreys from King Highschool in that terrible gold suit, that u can catch him in on any given weekend in the club.
^^^oh well...
This is why they still view us as coons.....We portray them..Even when we have an uplifting story like Precious we have monkey's like Monique who wants to get paid to do promotion...Heellloo thats why its promotion you already got paid and you want it to do good so you make more money on the back end....This is another one of those chittlin circuit movies that the bootlegger around my way has been selling for years, along with the books of the same nature....Why doesn't Ray J age ? Thats a funny dude....LisaRaye speaks for herself....I might just cop it to support my boo Maia and that dude AZ...his last 2 albums were banging
umm how bootleg.. just waste of film
I "Envy" anyone who can muster the intelligence to sit through this ish!!!!SMDH!!!"For the Love" of Sweet Jesus...why isn't Ray J's 10 mins of fame is up yet?...Oh yeah...he's Brandi's lil brother!!!--ThatBKChick
Damn. This lil nigga aint even hit puberty but wanna be gangsta so bad. Same ole low-budget, low-intelligence shit from black hollywood, man. But hey, does this mean Maia is up out tha street, for a minute at least? Wonder what day they filmed this bullshit on cuz you know it started and wrapped the same gotdamn day.
What's funny is I know Moesha sits up and cries when she thinks about the fact that her lil D-list celebrity brother is 10 times as famous as her. I might peep a youtube clip of this one if Lisa Raye got them toes right, fa me ;)
Whoever said any of these people wer B list must be on that same shit Maia Campbel is, these are D-list possibly F -list.. NEXT
I MEAN SUCH HATEFUL COMMENTS BEFORE WE KNOW WHAT THE FILM IS ABOUT.ALL THE REFERENCES TO IT BEING A HOOD FILM, LIKE THE HOOD IS A TERRIBLE PLACE, MOST CAME FROM THE HOOD.INSTEAD OF QUESTIONING WHY RWS IS BEING HATEFL WITH THE CAPTION, "BLACK STAR POWER", AND WHAT WE DO HATE. WE COMPLAIN THAT THERES NO BLACK MOVIES, TV SHOWS, MAGAZINES.BUT WHEN WE HAVE IT, WE DON'T FULLY SUPPORT AND THEN WE HATE.INSTEAD OF BASHING THE SISTAS IN THE FILM, BASH, RWS FOR BEING BITCHES, AND FOLKS AINT CATCH THAT SHIT.
DOING THE WHITE MAN JOB FOR FREE, HAVING HATEFUL NON-PRODUCTIVE COMVERSATIONS WITH HATE FOR OUR OWN KIND, WE NEED TO FOCUS ON OVERCOMING ADVERSITIY.
BAPS 3000
Preach BAPS. This rant I co-sign. We black folks have forgotten that there is a lot of A list black actors/actress that have not made a film in a while. So for any B,C,D,F lister they are just happy that someone even give them a chance to potray their craft and get paid while doing so. Let's support and help our people make some bread.
@10:18 AM
Cosign with you 100%. Damn this storyline is so old.
...
'New?'
That movie is old as hell--It was completed 5 years ago. Maia Campbell mentioned it in her infamous 2004 Sister2Sister interview.
IM STILL MADE AT THE CAPTION"BLACK STAR POWER". THAT DON'T BOTHER YA'LL ONE BIT, BUT THE MOVIES DOES, THATS WHY WE SHEEP.
\\Ya'll kill me with the A LIST F LIST SHIT, Hollywood created that shit, if thats the case we all f-list=FUCKED!
BAPS
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I only needed to read the names of who was in the film and immediately knew that it was not going to be good. While many of us are from the "hood, " whatever that means, this does not mean that we all grew up selling drugs and shooting folks! Many people on this blog appear to be somewhat educated and even if you're not it doesn't mean the only movies you want to see are "hood gangsta" flicks. These "actors," I use the term very loosely here are only out to make money, and believe me they got whatever little money they were going to get upfront. So, you renting or not renting this movie will make very little difference. We have many more stories to tell and once we stop selling out our own people, we can do that!
