no offense because I love the print version, but the online version was a little too bootleg! More opinion, hearsay and rumor than facts. They should just clean it up and revamp it, not get rid of it completely.
If you notice on this cover, one of the headlines read " STOP THE MURDERS-Why Our Children Kill One Another."
My theory about this topic of killing goes back to what I was trying to relay in a previous post: when you have folks who say any of the following-
1.Dont preach God's word WORRY ABOUT YOURSELVES.
2.You can't judge me only God can judge me
3. I'm a grown ass man/woman
The result is kids killing people, and other crazy stuff because nobody should tell them nothing. Everybody should just shut up and wait for judgement day, so God can judge them then. SMH
In the previous post, they STILL did not answer my question of why the disciples of Christ even bothered to spread the gospel if they were supposed to worry only about themselves?!

One wrong turn that Essence made is putting celebs on their cover instead of alternating them with models and everyday people. I know were talking about the online version but I think the two go hand in hand and it's time to accomodate today's woman. For more than 10 yrs, it's been no secret that Steve Harvey was a womanizer. It's not to say that this new wife may have changed his ways but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if the following got the cover for their celebrity -

Trey Songz
Real and Chance
Flava Flav (or 'Rick'the bodyguard)
and any other random negro that is attention hungy because they def went down when they put Puf-whatever and his babymomma on the cover more than a yr ago.
A suggestion..put real news about Black women on your site, not just celebrities or reality show hoes but mix it up more. Get correspondents in every major city to tell what is really going on in the world besides 'NeNe is ghetto.'

Essence went out of business when they decided to put fake ass Steve Harvey on the cover.LOL. These celebrities kills me, they divorce and marry like changing draws. Society makes up their own rules now a days, doesn't the scripture says that a man or woman should re-marry only when you are a widow/er alomng with not having pre-marital sex. SMDH!

Seems like everybody is making money off of black people but black people. Since Essence is no longer black owned I hope it fails and folds. I wish black people understood the importance and significance of black businesses, and that black businesses could find better ways to serve the needs and interests of their primary target audiences.
I stopped reading Essence years ago, and don't get me started on their site.

@6:09 :) I hear you. Back in the day I'd come home and get whippings cause I talked to much in school. Some how my grandmother found out and was waiting for me. :) On my block, other people who knew you would tell the family when you did something bad. That stuff doesn't happen so much anymore. Cause my people backed up the teacher when I was wrong (stood up for me when the teacher was wrong). Now parents don't want to believe when their children do something bad. Teachers aren't allowed to discipline. When I was in grade school, they still used the paddle. One of my teachers had a ping pong paddle with holes drilled in it to catch the hair. Never got it with that one. But I got hit on the palm of my hand with a ruler or the back of my legs.
The problem is children with no sense having babies and not raising them right. And the absence of God in our homes, schools,... And both parents working and someone not being home when the children get home from school. I miss the good old days.
