Lisa Raye Talks About The Friction In Her Marriage Caused By This Magazine Cover

ESSENCE.COM: There were some suggestive magazine photos that resurfaced which gave the [Turks and Caicos] country more ammunition to declare that you weren't fit to be a First Lady. Did your husband ever defend you?

LISARAYE: I'm the First Lady and I knew that I could no longer do those kinds of photo shoots. They were old photographs from a few years ago and I'm an actress, so I know why that magazine chose to run them again. Still, I felt like when Michael asked me if I posed for that magazine he could have shown a bit more support and spoken on my behalf and said, "My wife would not do this." When he questioned me, I said, "Are you serious? Might this be the same series of the photos and posters you framed and proudly said, 'This is my wife?'" To not ask me as your wife before questioning me accusingly of something like that really hurt. Then people want to say no other First Lady would do this. Well, neither did I because it was done years ago, and quite frankly, the other First Ladies couldn't pull that off if they wanted to.

ESSENCE.COM: How has your daughter, Kaienja "Kai" Pace, been holding up?

LISARAYE: My daughter is unfocused now. She was attending the University of Buckingham. She is back here in California and trying to find her way. That's incredibly courageous of her and I'm disappointed in the lack of a responsibility on his part as a stepfather. My daughter spent her first six months before she started school with Michael while I worked in California. I was trying to help them establish a bond and promote family with him and it wasn't easy. No one should be subjected to this when your intention was always to do well. This fairy tale has turned into a nightmare.

NY Knick Eddy Curry's son has identified his mother and sister's killer. According to relatives, 3-year-old Noah has been telling everyone, "Fred did it."

Noah was discovered last Saturday by his grandmother, covered in blood, huddled in a chair near the slain bodies of his mother Nova Henry and his baby sister, Ava.

"Fred" is Fredrick Goings, 36, the ex-boyfriend of Nova, according to the victim's step-uncle Tom Henry. "He told everybody, 'Fred did it,'" said Henry.

Sidebar: According to the Chicago-Sun Times, although Curry did not publicly claim Noah's sister Ava, DNA tests taken in September proved she was also his child.

Fab's Credit Cards Declined

NY rapper Fabolous showed up at an Atlanta restaurant with about twenty of his Street Family pals and settled in to party. When the manager asked for a credit card to start the tab, Fab offered one up but it was promptly declined. So he offered another, and another and ANOTHER, and they were declined too. After the FIFTH declined card, one of Fabs people was sent out to the car to, I don't know, get another card? Anyway, the runner got into a fight with the outside bouncer and "somehow" tripped and cracked his head open on the sidewalk. Don P of Atlanta-based rap trio Trillville was arrested last week in DeKalb County, Georgia, for the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl. According to a DeKalb County Police spokesperson, the rapper (real name: Donnell Prince) was charged with rape and two counts of aggravated sodomy, all of which are felonies.

According to police, the attack happened on December 16 in an apartment in Lithonia, Georgia, which is near Atlanta. Prince was one of 10 guests attending a small gathering at the apartment.
"Allegedly, [the victim] was raped in a bedroom by two partygoers, Mr. Prince being one of them," said Cory Hughes, Dekalb County's public information officer. "We are still trying to identify the other individual who was involved. [The victim] said this was not a consensual act."
Moments after the assault, the girl left the gathering with a friend and reported the rape to police. By the time officers arrived on the scene, most of the guests had left. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Prince's attorney, Keith Adams, said "there's absolutely no basis whatsoever" for his client's arrest. "None of the seven or eight witnesses who were there, in the apartment, agree with what the young lady said occurred," Adams said. "She came to the location with a young man, looking to meet [Don P]. She met him, there was a consensual encounter between herself and Mr. Prince, and there was a consensual encounter between herself and another gentleman. There were individuals who were in the room at the time this alleged rape was supposed to have occurred."

He said Don P remains in police custody, but that a bond hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday morning. "We're optimistic [Prince] will be released tomorrow, and we look forward to either fighting this thing or waiting for the district attorney to make the right decision and dismiss the charges."

Six construction firms have filed liens against Tyler Perry’s house and his new movie studio claiming he refuses to pay them what he owes. The contractors allege Perry refused to pay their final bills either for no apparent reason or because their work met with his arbitrary disapproval. They say he ordered work redone on impulse, deciding he wouldn’t like the stones purchased for an outdoor fountain, for instance, or deeming newly planted trees too short.

Perry, though, said he withheld payment only for shoddy work or for undocumented charges and then only for a handful of the dozens of construction companies he hired. Even those, he said, still got paid hundreds of thousands of dollars each before he dismissed them.

“There’s a Tyler Perry tax that’s put on things,” Perry said “I’ve seen the worst of what people can be, the worst of what family members can be. I pride myself on taking care of my business. I pride myself on being able to pay the bills.” But “I’m not sympathetic to anybody who’s trying to rip me off. Just because I’m a Christian, just because I’m a nice guy, it doesn’t mean I’m a wimp.”

“Tyler’s an all right guy,” one of the contractors said. But “he’s the most miserable guy I ever met. He don’t trust nobody. Everybody wants something from him.”

Eddy Curry Baby Mama Found Murdered

New York Knicks Center Eddy Curry is having a rough time these days. A week or two ago Eddy's male chauffeur filed a sexual harassment suit against him, claiming Eddy exposed himself and propositioned him for gay sex. This week Curry's ex-girlfriend Nova Henry and her 9 month old daughter Ava were found dead from gunshot wounds in their Chicago condo. What's worse, Eddy's 3 year old son with Nova, Noah, was also found in the condo, unharmed, albeit covered in blood. Nova had claimed Ava was also Eddy's child, which Eddy denied.

A suspect is in custody and officials say Eddy, who is said to be very distraught, has in no way been implicated in the case. Nova was reported to have had a restraining order out against a former boyfriend who family members claim told her there was only one way out of their relationship.

Adam 'Pac Man' Jones Sued By Lawyer

From the Atlanta Journal and Constitution:

Manny Arora claims Adam 'Pac Man' Jones stiffed him for fees “in excess of $10,000” on 18 different cases in which Arora represented either Jones’ family members or friends.

None of the cases mentioned in the lawsuit filed in Fulton State Court involve Jones directly.
The suit lists Deborah Jones, James Jones, Lewis Kueffor and Fleming Daniels as the defendants Arora assisted. The charges against them vary from speeding to kidnapping, simple battery and, in the case of Daniels, murder.

Jones has been arrested six times and has been involved in a dozen incidents requiring police intervention since the Tennessee Titans drafted him in the first round in 2005.

Jones was suspended in April 2007 and missed all of that season. He was traded to the Dallas Cowboys last April and reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in August.

The Cowboys began the season among the favorites to make the Super Bowl but failed to reach the playoffs. The club cut Jones after a season in which he missed several games while undergoing drug and alcohol treatment.

Gravy's Dirty Laundry

Now that Jamal 'Gravy' Woolard is in the spotlight for his portrayal of The Notorious B.I.G in the Biggie biopic, all his business is in the street. Last year Gravy got arrested for slapping the shit out of his wife. They say after Gravy stayed out all night his wife went off on him about it and admitted to police that she dared him to hit her. According to police reports, Gravy told them, "She wouldn't stop pushing me, so I snuffed her." On a side note, Gravy's wife beating case is being handled by the Legal Aid Society which, incidentally, handles cases for indigent clients.

Another Gravy tidbit is that he got shot in the ass on the way into a interview at NY's Hot 97 and went on and did the interview before seeking medical attention.

The second annual BET Honors taped the other day and gossip is starting to leak out from behind the scenes. They say producers were really hot to have Keyshia Cole sing a tribute to Mary J. Blige, who was honored along with Tyler Perry and Magic Johnson, but Mary's husband/manager nixed the idea claiming there're too many comparisons between Mary and Keyshia as it is. Instead, Monica and Anita Baker sang the tribute to Mary while Keyshia was relegated to introducing choreographer Judith Jamison.

People were also talking about how great Whitney Houston looked, who didn't sing, but is scheduled along with Jennifer Hudson, to sing at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy party this year.

Man Claims Ben Vereen And His Daughter Scammed Him

Ben Vereen' s daughter's ex-fiance is suing Ben and his daughter, Malaika Vereen, for more than $10 million dollars in damages. The dude, who works for UPS, claims he gave Malaika a $30,000.00 engagement ring, spent $250,000 over two years courting her, and put $123,000 down on the house for her, which was co-signed by Ben Vereen. The dude broke the engagement after he found out Malaika was planning to use the house as a rental property and demanded the house be sold to recoup his 123 large. That's when he found out the only name on the deed was Ben Vereen's and he wasn't selling. The dude says Ben Vereen told him "my word is my word, we don't have to sign anything. He told me that everything would be okay. ... I tried reaching out to him ... he said it's out of his hands."

The lawsuit demands Ben Vereen and his daughter return the ring, reimburse the money he put down on the house, and pay $5 million each in punitive damages.

Dude said, "Even if I don't get the money back, I can let people know who these people are - to beware. Love is blind, I guess."

Dwyane Wade and his estranged wife Siohvaughn's divorce is getting dirty...literally. Siohvaughn accuses D Wade of squandering their marital assets, abandoning their children and giving her an STD.

In court papers Siohvaugh alleges, "Dwyane has dissipated substantial sums of marital property including . . . buying his mother a $2 million church; placing substantial sums of money in an account with another woman; providing numerous friends and family members with unfettered access to accounts with hundreds of thousands of dollars of marital funds from which they made substantial withdrawals . . .''

According to the petition Siovaugh also claims Dwyane has gone ''months'' without seeing his sons and 'His ''failure to spend time with them . . . has resulted in the children at times being afraid of him; in fact, Zion . . . does not recognize or know Dwyane.'' Siovaugh wants sole custody and support.

Sio is also pissed because D Wade left her burning. In the divorce papers she's demanding a list of Wyane's lovers because she says she suffered ''grievous physical, emotional and mental injury'' from an STD diagnosed in the fall of '07. She insists Dwyane and his ''paramour or paramours'' are liable and 'Dwyane must disclose the identity of all of his sexual partners during the parties' marriage,'' says her petition.

Notorious Opens With $21 Million, One Shooting And Four Stabbings

The Notorious B.I.G biopic opened this weekend in limited release with a respectable $21 million dollars, but not without controversy. The film's star, rapper Jamal 'Gravy' Woolard, was in the house Friday night for a Greensboro, NC showing, but it got shut down before the movie started because somebody got shot twice in the lobby. In other Notorious opening night chatter, four guys got stabbed in a Brooklyn nightclub Saturday night at a party that was promoted as an 'official' Notorious movie after-party. 25 Year Old Claims Tito Is Her Father

A Brooklyn woman is taking the King of Pop's clan to court, claiming brother Tito Jackson is her dad. Tanay Rodney Jackson, 25, filed a petition in Brooklyn Family Court last summer to declare the former Jackson 5 guitarist her father.

"He told me he was my father when I was 17," she said, adding that Tito Jackson would "pop over now and then" when she was in grade school.
"He didn't want it public," she said. "He was ashamed."

New Lawsuit For Dwyane Wade

Remember when NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade closed his namesake restaurant chain before it even opened and filed a lawsuit against his partners for mis-management? Well D Wade's ex-partners have filed another suit against him, in addition to the suit they've already filed claiming Wade never promoted the restaurant. The partners are now claiming D Wade refused to show up at any of the openings because the partners would not re-negotiate their original contact. After signing the deal, D Wade decided he wanted 30% of the business instead of the 10% he agreed to and he also wanted them to hire his father at $50,000.00 a year and one of his childhood friends at $75,000.00 a year per restaurant [they'd planned to open 30 of them]. When the partners balked, Dwyane stopped cooperating. A source familiar with the case said: “They actually tried to have the partners sign a new contract that was unacceptable. Dwyane tried to have us pay his dad to do nothing.” And if they didn’t renegotiate? According to the lawsuit, Wade's lawyers told the partner's lawyer's: “You can either have a happy Dwyane, or an unhappy Dwyane!”

When contacted by a Miami newspaper, Wade's people said, “We would’ve helped with anything they wanted. I was going to be Dwyane’s eyes and ears in the restaurants. They were real jobs. Plus, they initiated everything and now they turn it around. They’re trying to make Dwyane look like the bad guy who’s shaking them down. That’s not the truth.”

Jim Jones Facing Misdemeanor Over Ne-Yo Fight

Jim Jones turned himself in on Monday to talk to the cops regarding that fight at the Louis Vuitton store between Jim's camp and Ne-Yo's entourage [oh, and they say it wasn't Jay Z's play cousin Ty-Ty. It was Ty's brother Vaugh]. Whatever happened, Jim left the meeting facing misdemeanor assault charges. Jim, who was released without bail after making his statement, is scheduled to appear in court on February 4.

T.I. On The Hook For Baby's Mama's Lawyer's Fees

According to the Atlanta Journal and Constitution:

Lawyers for the mother of T.I.’s sons say the rapper owes an $8,000 attorney bill in a custody case.

T.I. is scheduled to appear in Fulton County Superior Court on the matter Tuesday.
The two-time Grammy winner was ordered in September to pay more than $3,000 a month to LaShon Dixon — to whom he had been paying about $2,000 per month — as well as the boys’ private school tuition, uninsured medical bills and expenses related to the children’s extracurricular activities.

The court ordered T.I. to pay the attorney fees by Nov. 19, said Dixon’s attorney, Randy Kessler.

T.I. and Dixon are still negotiating child support and custody of the boys, ages 7 and 8. He also has two sons with his fiancee, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, of the defunct R&B group Xscape.

Kat Williams Got Yung Berg'd In Detroit

Saturday night Kat Williams was in a local Detroit night club doing an impromptu stand-up routine. Sooooo he starts going in on this one dude who was wearing a cowboy hat and matching boots. Spies in the house say the crowd was cracking up until Mr. Cowboy walked up to Kat and bitch slapped him across the face. They say Kat, who was without any sort of entourage, just sat in a corner smoking a cigarette and when someone approached him asking if he was alright, he answered, "Hell naw I ain't alright! Didn't you just see that nigga slap me!?"

And speaking of Kat Williams, he was in Detroit for a New Year's Eve comedy battle against Steve Harvey. Here's a clip.

DMX's Arizona Home In Foreclosure

While DMX is cooling his heels in an Arizona jail awaiting sentencing on animal cruelty and drug charges, the Arizona Valley home he paid over $600,000 for back in 2003, has fallen into ruin and is in foreclosure. Soulja Boy Tell 'Em's sophomore cd, iSouljaBoyTellem, only sold like 80,000 copies in 3 weeks and he got robbed at gunpoint. Word first went out on Soulja Boy's Twitter page that 6 six goons came to his house and pulled guns on him. The Twitter messages later disappeared, but what they said were, "Thanking God for my life. Six niggaz kicked in my door and tried to kill me. Glad we alive, they had AKs and pistols and tried to kidnap my boy Jbar." His reps later confirmed the story, but refused to give anymore details. Then two dudes made a video claiming responsibility.

Lil Kim is not happy with singer Faith or the late rapper Biggie Smalls' mother Voletta Wallace concerning her portrayal in the new B.I.G. bio-pic 'Notorious' due in theaters January 16. She tells Hip Hop weekly magazine, “I’ve had enough and I’m about to expose them both… I’ve been quiet for a long time. I’m very disappointed in Faith… There’s nothing Faith or Ms. Wallace could do to stop me from reppin’ B.I.G. all day. I’m gonna always do that… It’s time for Ms. Wallace to be exposed.”

They Say

and when I say 'they' I mean Dr. Drew at Drew Reports. Anyway, Drew says T.I.'s New Year's Eve concert at the Gansevoort in Miami Beach was a bit of a bust for several guests who'd paid $10,000.00 for pool side seats for T.I.'s show. The problem was, though the promoter sold the seats, he hadn't gotten permission for T.I. to perform outside, so the concert had to be moved inside to the ballroom, leaving poolside revelers high and dry. It also caused some friction with DJ Cassidy who was pissed that his set had to get cut short to accommodate T.I.. They [meaning Drew] say Cassidy refused to get off stage almost ruining the count down and then refused to spin for the rest of the night.

You know how some gossip blogs post blind items but never tell you who they're about? Well, Crazy Days and Nights don't get down like that. They post blind items all year long then do reveals twice a year. Here's a couple of reveals I thought you might find interesting.

This former A list R&B female singer was a really big thing back in the day. Well after she stopped performing so much she gained a few pounds. Well, more than a few actually. So, when she finally came back and did a new CD, she was a little concerned about the photo on the cover of it. The record label offered to airbrush the photo and make her look as skinny as she wanted to be. Well, she said no, and that she would just go ahead and get some photos taken on her own. A few weeks later the label got some photos of her in the mail. They were great photos. The problem was they had all been taken fifteen years and fifty pounds earlier. She insisted that the photos were taken all in the past week or so and those were the ones she wanted on the cover of the CD. With no choice in the matter, the label did as she said. Then she also decided that she couldn't do any concerts because if she did, people would see she looked nothing like the cover photo, so she did no promotion for the CD at all.

Charges Dropped Against Bianca

All charges have been dropped against former America's Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden and Hairspray's Nikki Blonski stemming from the airport brawl they staged in the Turks and Caicos islands last August. As of now, the only charges still pending are for Nikki's dad, who is accused of cracking Bianca's mother's skull.

All He Wanted Was A Blow Job

When Charles Barkley got pulled over for DUI last night, he told the cops the reason he ran that stop sign was because he was in a hurry to get a blow job from his passenger.

According to the officer who wrote the report, "He told me that he ran the stop sign because he was in a hurry to pick up the girl I saw get in the passenger seat. He asked me to admit that she was 'hot.' He asked me, 'You want the truth?' When I told him I did he said, 'I was gonna drive around the corner and get a blow job. He then explained that she had given him a 'blow job' one week earlier and said it was the best one he had ever had in his life."
