Gabourey Sidibe is suffering a bout of bad press because of her divatude.
Columnist Jonathan Capehart wrote about his run in with Gabourey at the White House Correspondents dinner in the Post Partisan,
I was thrilled to spot her at a table laughing uproariously with the man sitting to her right. "I know you're having a good time and I'm sorry to interrupt," I began. My next sentence didn't come out because Sidibe shouted over the din, "Yeah, come back in five minutes!" Thinking she was joking, I laughed and pretended to walk away. When I noticed that the look in her eyes meant she was serious, I walked back to her and said, "I just wanted to congratulate you on your nomination. I thought your performance was spectacular. I even wrote a column about it." After wishing her good luck, I rejoined my friends.In the video below, Gabourey gets fed up with paparazzi who insist on taking her picture when she obviously doesn't want to be bothered. One even asks if she prefers being called Gabourey or Precious? You can hear Gabby denying fan requests for autographs while saying 'enough, enough'.
Back at the table, I sheepishly related the incident to my colleague Jo-Ann Armao. "Oh! She's horrible," Armao said in her wonderfully blunt way. She told me that she saw Sidibe at the pre-cocktails and told her that she'd seen "Precious" three times (an amazing emotional feat that only adds to my awe of Armao) and that she thought Sidibe's performance was "incandescent." What was Sidibe's response? "I guess I should say, 'Thank you.'"
At the MSNBC after party, the partner of a "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" producer said to me, "Look! There's Gabby Sidibe. I'm going to ask her to take a picture with me." I warned him, "She's mean." To which he said, "I don't care. I just want a picture." I didn't see what went down, but the dejected fan came back and said incredulously, "She said no."

I wanted to see the movie Precious ever since RWS posted the trailer for it a year ago.I decided to read the book "Push" a few weeks before I saw "Precious" a couple of days ago. The movie really mangled the book. I was so dissapointed with that overated minstrel show of a movie. The book portrayed Precious as an abused illiterate girl but she strived to change her life, end the abuse and be a good mother to her children. Her classmates at the Each One Teach One were her friends and gave Precious the kindness that she was starved from. Many of her classmates confided in each other that they had endured rape and incest as well. The movie strips these characters of their importance in Precious' life and paints them as one dimensional "ghetto" morons. Remember the Lenny Kravitz scene when they were hitting on him in Precious hospital room and he says "What's wrong with them!?" that never happened in the book. I have seen interviews with Gabby before and over time she increasingly stood out as someone that was a bit rude and a little full of herself instead of the bubbly newcomer she once was. Get it together Gabby. Hollywood doesn't tolerate crap from an actor unless you are pulling in the big dough.

I believe it I remember watching some show where Neicy Nash asked her a question and her reponse was really snotty. She just has this strange snotty valley girl type of attitude that most people don't expect from someone who looks like her. I saw the snootiness from the beginning but since I hadn't seen that many interviews of her and it's hard to judge someone from short snippets I didn't think too much of it. So now that I'm hearing about her divatude I'm not surprised. I think her size is going to make people point out her attitude even more so than your average celeb. There are many with attitudes that get a pass.
Although I can understand how annoying the paps are (my dad has worked for celebs and I've been in the midst of a pap frenzy so I know it's scary) she has to remember that she's only done one movie. The fans are the people who support your career. If you piss off enough of them or the wrong people it can hurt your career.

Frenchie is doing VERY well. She is living a comfortable life as a professional NYC performer. If you know anything about NYC performers then you'd know she is in great company. She has been on Broadway and she's done national tours. She is a humble and beautiful soul.

I agree that it was rude for Gabby to give back the flowers. Like 12:44 pm said it does look like she gave the flowers to someone that was with the media, which reveals a serious character flaw: lack of compassion. I am sure it hurt the feelings of the fan who observed what she did. That simple act speaks volumes about who she really is!
Even if she was a thin white or light skinned beauty, this behavior shows how ugly she really is on the inside. Arrogance is a turn off coming from anyone, no matter who they may be. I've seen this posted on a few sites and it surprises me how quickly people start arguing over how she looks. I agree with the above poster who says that it's like gabby is untouchable. Just because she is fat and unattractive (and she is. Ya'll know if your sons brought her home and said she was the one 99.999% would pass out.) does not mean she has the right to be rude. She is a public figure and that means she has a certain level of social responsibility and an expectancy to act with some grace in difficult situations.
