Record Companies should invest in some sort of preparation workshops. Train them similar to Motown. They are not prepared for the "suddeness" of what fame entails. Sad.
This nigga DMX is one of a kind. He changed the industry. I wish people here would stop blaming others for peoples mistakes and downfall that was caused by them. This nigga didnt even know who Barak Obama was. But this nigga is still part of the great era in hi hop.
My God! Now knowing DMX's background, I feel differently about him honestly. I absolutely can understand the depths of pain a person can be driven to when they have internalized a sense of worthlessness. I thank God everyday that he's ordered my steps and protected me from the negativity around me, but I grew up abused and around alcoholism and drug abuse and saw how easy it was for people around me to fall into.
His wife is an absolute saint and I can only imagine he's already be dead if she wasnt in his life in some way.
I agree 12:03, I look at him so differently. He needed people to see this side of him or they would have continued to think he's crazy. It took a strong woman to handle him and he was so blessed to have her.

@ANN....are u dumb or just really fuckin dumb? Caught up in the industry? The man has had a crack problem since he was like 14. What happens when you give a poor crackhead millions of dollars and fame? More crack, more problems. Im surprised he lasted as long as he did in the industry with his problems. The man has many demons starting with what happened with his mom. Im sure he wants to do right, but that drug calls him. Its not an easy road. I hope he gets better. It doesnt get that much more real than it does with X.
I will pray for my brotha X, he was one of my all time favorite rappers, his first 3 albums stayed in heavy rotation in my jeep, it was a form of therapy that spoke to that other reckless/dark side of me. I used it to work through the aggression and left that mess right there. if X sincerely desires to heal, he's going to have to willing to let go of those demons and darkness and replace it with something else. majority of folks had a horrible childhood filled with abuse, neglect and violence. you go through your teens, 20's and come to your senses. some people use their childhood trauma to keep living a life of debauchery. X is too old for this continuing nonsense. the current energy sift bringing swift evolutionary and revolutionary changes to our planet, is calling for folks to wake up and get in alignment with universal/elemental/ancestral and celestial energies. those who continue on this path of personal destruction and unconsciousness will not have a place in the coming new age. X is an extremely spiritual person, but like anything else, if that part of him is not nurtured. he will ultimately self destruct. perfection is not the goal, as human beings only experience perfection in death. we are however perfect with all our imperfections, but X must bring himself into balance and alignment to survive what is coming. its a shame because he has children, and especially black son's who need to be taught the traps being laid down for them.
It would be nice for the record industry to provide training. But if you train somebody to take care of themselves, you can cheat'em. They been cheating folks for yearrrrrrrrs. The NFL has preparation training because they have a strong union.

In order for DMX to get treatment for his addiction he must confront the demon (his mother). His mother is the reason why he has a drug dependency.
Unfortunately, due to his addiction he will need to be on some form of psychiatric drug to control the paranoid behavior.
