I was trying to win tickets to the bells, but I couldn't. I heard she did good. I know Erykah Badu did a good job last night that's what I heard from a friend, I went to my friend kids graduation so I couldn't go.
ok..so wait? you mean to tell me she didn't have to put on see through tights, a leotard, a blonde wig, daisy dukes, and F me pumps to showcase her talent?...shocking.
lauren hill is beautiful and a masterpiece artist.
@11:48-I don't believe that she is mentally ill-I think she was fighting some negative spirits around her-and it looks like she's winning!! Like she said "the chain of S-tan was'nt made that strong"!
God Bless you Lauryn-keep the faith and stay strong!
i dont do live shows in the park. the sound is usually horrible and the artists, case in point, seem to all be yelling into the mic. that's probably why the crowd is not into it. well, that's y i wasn't into it. she's out of breath and about to catch on fire, in cali, in that hot ass jump suit.
at least people can make eye contact with her now and not get arrested for harrassment.
Co-sign 12:38. It's an OUTDOOR FESTIVAL...can't control acoustics w/mother nature. A bunch of spakle and paint (that she doesn't need) would just melt. Natural hair, covered body (which protects the skin--Black don't crack, but it does droop) and a great performance with no gimmicks. The problem is?
I think she's been raising her children this past decade. I can't imagine the pressures of the industry and dealing with a rocky relationship situation. I think we've all been there in some capacity. What we think we want and what we actually need can be two totally different things. Keep your head up L-Boogie.
For THOSE that are blaming the Industry & Rohan for ALL of her ISSUES-n-PROBLEMS along with HER Antics-n-Behavior Please Riddle-Me-This...
Is Rohan NO LONGER a Part of her LIFE? Has the INDUSTRY Changed for the better Since? Is Lauryn EVER Responsible for HER Actions? Is THIS performance Really WORTHY of a Comeback?
I would hope that a STABLE-n-Happy personal life with her kids and family ALONG WITH her strengthening Mental-Health is far more important than trying to stay relevant in this CURRENT Music Industry -- JMO
@1:56 PM You make very valid points and YES Lauryn does bear responsibility for the choices she made BUT the industry and an abusive relationship ALSO caused her a lot of problems. She refused to be a puppet and so the rumors started (she's gay, she's racist, she's crazy). We've seen it happen time & time again in the music industry.
I *hear* you, ELove. Personal responsibility is definitely number one, however Life happens. Re: her performance, I say yes its worthy--don't call it a comeback, she's been around for years. ;-) Like Whitney (bless her heart) you can't take away the body of work that has been created even if she never sang another note or rapped another lyric. I'm sure her family and her personal peace of mind is #1, hence her hiatus. I'll root for true talent true to get it together any day before before I accept the manufactured BS being pushed on us with the excuse of "so and so is young, they'll get better." WTF? Michael Jackson was young...Whitney Houston was young! Heck, Mary J Blige, and Luther Vandross were young! Their material may have matured, but they were all truly gifted individuals.
Sorry for the soapbox rant. I was just so happy to see a Lauryn Hill post I got besides myself. :-D
i'm so glad to see lauryn looking and singing normal. i hope that guy do her a favor and stay far, far away. I hope she stay on track. i'm almost getting emotional over here.
Wow thank you Snitch, I really enjoyed that. she sounds great, her voice is strong and steady. still one of the best voices in the industry!! she looks and sounds good and I'm glad she seemed to have broken whatever took hold of her. yes sista Lauren L Boogie I will be holding you up in my prayers, you have been through the fire and I hope you have learned to transmute the energies to now work for you, instead of against you. damn I'm feeling all kinds of ire right now seeing this.
I loved her cd The miseducation of miss lauryn hill. Damn that was a good cd. Sad that she kept away for do long. Maybe she will be here to stay. Over all a true artist and not someone who is manufactured always has some sort of things that need to heal. Look at miss Nina Simone.
She looks great, also a cross between a YOUNG Oprah and Evelyn Champagne King with a hint of Leela James. It's great to see her back blessing the mic'.
3:40 PM, please do not put MJB in the same category as Luther, Whitney, and MJ. They got their talent naturally and honestly. All she did was holler off-key and whine, until she got a little better and somewhat tolerable. She used a "fake it 'till you make it" approach, instead of raw talent, and her "work" is more manufactured than anything else. Lauryn flows between rap and singing so well because it comes naturally, but her hair and outfit need to be reworked. Lauryn looks like Leela James.
@7:59 we can agree to disagree. ;-)I loved MJB's debut What's The 411 and My Life--I *felt* Mary. Technically (I'm going out on a limb here) you could say the same about Whitney. No doubt, hands down voice a gift from God with model looks, but she was "packaged" by Clive Davis as Pop BAP, and we all saw where that went. Back to Lauryn, I think her hair remains natural--just looks like a straightening comb or flat iron was run through it, but the "straight" has started to revert due to humidity. Still looks better than that clown makeup ensemble she was rocking the last time we saw her.
Whitney was definitely packaged by corporate media companies for mainstream audiences on the outside, but her voice came naturally from her heart and soul...until drugs and demons took over. Her music was primarily geared toward Pop and Top 40 markets, but her talent and background well prepared her for soul/R&B and gospel/inspirational music. Whitney comes from a very vocally talented family and was coached by professionals and sang gospel music in church. Her voice was well groomed if nothing else about her was. I wish she had written most of the lyrics to the songs she recorded, so she could get credit and compensation for them. Publishing is what keeps making money. That's one thing I can say about Lauryn, MJB, and others. Although they may use the music of others, more often than I care to hear, at least they do write lyrics and own the rights to quite a bit of what they record.
I hope Lauryn will continue to perform live on a regular basis, but that may be a bit much to ask from a single mother of several children that has been out of the limelight for quite some time. A few concerts a year might be all she wants to do and may bring her enough income to where she doesn't feel like she has to do more to take care of her household. A new CD and concert tour from her would be nice. If the CD is good and she doesn't do some crazy shit on tour, she could shut down a whole lot of acts.
ALPHAMEGA WAS RIGHT WHEN HE SAID HE TOLD T.I. NOT TO JOIN WITH THE EVIL, BUT SINCE T.I. IS SCARED OF DYING, HE WENT AHEAD AND MADE A DEAL WITH THAT OLD SERPENT.
THE 7 MONTHS THAT T.I SPENT IN PRISON WAS FOR HIM TO RE-CREATE HIMSELF AND FOLLOW THE " 48 LAWS OF POWER"
OF COURSE HE WILL DENY ALL OF THIS, BUT SOONER OR LATER, HE TOO WILL BE EXPOSED. I WON'T BE SURPRISED IF SOMEBODY LINKED TO HIM BECOMES HIS BLOOD SACRIFICE.
Everybody seems to have guzzled the "Lauren Hill Kool Aid". What body of work? She had an album with the Fugees, a monster solo album and a dumb acoustic album--now she's a so-called legend. How is she a legend? The bar is set so low.
@11:01 AM Lauryn was sued for 5 MILLION dollars by writers & producers who worked on her "Miseducation" album, since she conveniently left them out of the album credits. She gets a major side-eye for that. Then again, she told them "Jesus would want them to do the work for free". She needed serious help.
@2:01 PM People consider Lauryn legendary because she was one of the few black female artists rapping & singing (at the time) and she wasn't telling women to pat their weaves or asking rude boys if they could get it up.
UGH!!! THAT RUN SHE DOES AT 0.20 HAS ME GAGGING!! i don't give a FQQCK about her hair, clothes or about what you idiots are saying. This is talent at it's finest.
@2:01 Name ANY female MC that did it better than Lauryn. Nobody can touch her lyrically and she can blow just as well as any R&B singer out there. In fact, I would put her up against any MC male or female and she will most definitely hold her own. She is a bad b!tch. Period.
LORD JESUS!!! LAUREN HILL IS HOT LIKE FIRE!!!! AND THIS IS JUST A SAMPLE.... THEM A TRY TO PUT OUT HER FIRE BY WATERING HER DOWN WITH PAIN AND GRIEF....BUT SHE HAS COME BACK EVEN STRONGER THAN BEFOR!!!! THE WILL OF GOD WILL OVER COME ANY PLOT OF SATAN AND MAN!!!!!! AND I SEE THE FIRE LIGHT LION ROARING IN LAUREN HILL.... YES THE LIONESS IS BACK!!!!!RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Are you serious? So her work with the Fugees (the most successful CO-ED group) and her solo album that literally moved a generation of black women's conscious and thinking, isn't legendary?
SMH. I bet you think Nicki Minaj and Khia is the shit huh?
@ ann. the 48 laws of power is a book for the secular world. it is entirely truthful in that way. having read the book, i will tell you that it has given me great insight into the minds of the wicked, amoral and down right evil people and organizations who permeate that world. that said, if anyone is interested in ascending in corporate life, gangs, or business in general should probably read the 48 laws. also, it is clear that b. obama has read the book.
I love Lauren and she still looks good for all that she has been through but I hope she is not coming back as a product that has sold out to the industry as Ann stated... Ann I know all about that I reseach it on the daily and God exposes me to so much as well.
Wow, you people are nuts you are demonizing Obama. Fucking juddas leave to black people to try to destroy their own. Fucking nuts. Ann suck a dick bitch.
Go L-Boogie. Show them how it's done. Big ups to real talent! She is definitely a trooper, i know from experience that Island Dick ain't nothin to fuk wit.
Lauryn had to reap what she sowed. She didn't fool around with one married man she was involved with at least two. There are things in this world that you don't mess with because it brings HEAPS of trouble. I love me some L boogie but all her problems were the doing of her own hand. I am still waiting for her next album. Hope all the *hit she has been through gives her something to write about.
@the "Jesus would want them to do it for free" quote. big SIDE EYE at that L Boogie
@ Ann, T.I. has already made his blood sacrifice by the name of Philant Johnson. He was TI's assistant and childhood friend and the one that was killed in Ohio (I believe that's where they were)The thing most people don't know or get regarding the sacrifices these celebrities make is the fact that they are unaware of who the person is or what the circumstances will be surrounding their "deaths" so its not like the celebrity chooses when, where or even who will be sacrificed. They are only aware that they must suffer some great loss, it is mostly used as a scare tactic to force them to join or to see if they are willing to make certain sacrifices for fame.
Oh God, she cut her beautiful ass dreads for this HAM. Not to get on my soapbox about the natural hair/perm thing again, but why do girls prefer a FUCKED UP perm to nat hair. If a girl does the perm thing, and keeps that muh'fucka looking good, ok, I don't like it, but it's her shyt, she looks good, so do her thang.
But why fuckery like this, where the perm doesn't even look all that good? What. The. Fuck! Man. I see girls all the time who might as well rock a low fro compared to the Ham & Cheese i'm seeing in their heads.
@7:58 No need to worry too much, that doesn't look like perm to me. Hard blow dry or press. I feel you on the natural hair thing though. I don't mind chicks pressing their hair erry now and then but this hatred of the kink is sad.
@6:16 B!tch you need to stop it..Lauryn ain't never been ugly a day in her life. I guess you're into the self-hating, skin-bleaching, nose and cheekbone fixing, weave-wearing, "erase any sign of being black" thing, huh? Don't be mad cuz this Queen is STILL doing it and she don't have to get naked to earn respect..
@7:58 LOL Definitely not a perm..you can tell by the way her hair frizzes up in the heat. I'd like to see the natural again too. Nobody rocks it like L Boogie does.
1.Black does not crack. 2.I don't like the jumpsuit, but she is extremely skinny so she probably wore it to cover up. 3.I love L-Boogiebut yeah messin with Rohan and Wyclef kinda did a head trip on her aswell as the mess in the music business. 4.Her hair does look pressed out. 5.I find it facinating that she looks like a very pretty Ethiopian but her bloodline comes from West Africa. Maybe a very pretty Senegalese?

So glad to see Rohan release his hold over her!! God is Truly Amazing!! Good to see you Queen!!!
As I said before. She is the best female rapper, EVER..
She'll be back when she has recovered from whatever mental illness she's been suffering with for the past decade.
ok..so wait? you mean to tell me she didn't have to put on see through tights, a leotard, a blonde wig, daisy dukes, and F me pumps to showcase her talent?...shocking.
lauren hill is beautiful and a masterpiece artist.
The mental illness came from the meadia and record labels.
she is beautiful!

@11:47 she is one of the best rappers period!
That crowd is so dead! Good to see L.Boogie performing (recently). I hope she's motivated to produce another album.

Like Dave Chappelle said, stop calling the celebrities crazy, it's dismissive. They aren't sick. Their ENVIRONMENT is sick.

Okay. I Lauren on that stuff? Why is is always sweatin'? I know that it may be hot and she has on that jumpsuit, but DAMN.

oh god she straightened her hair.
Real talent. Always loved Lauren Hill.
It takes a long time to recover from the addiction of Island Dick (or the "ID's". Especially Marley ID's. So glad her rehab is working.
Holy damn! NubianGoddez said something POSITIVE.

i cnt believe that all mto could comment on was her hair...
OFF OFF OFF TOPIC:
HEY YALL, I JUST WATCHED A DOCUMENTARY ON PIMP C EXPOSING THE EVIL IN THE INDUSTRY....
....THIS LIL BOOSIE DUDE MAY HAVE BEEN SET-UP BIG BIG BIG TIME. IN ONE OF HIS LAST RAP SONGS HE SAY THIS:
" BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST AND NOT IN BARACK OBAMA"
Hmmm, AFTER HE PUT THAT OUT THERE, HE GOT LOCKED UP. THIS MAY EXPLAIN WHY HE WAS SOOOOO AGGRAVATED/CRUSHED ABOUT HAVING TO GO BACK TO PRISON.
ONE OF THE LAWS FROM A BOOK CALLED " THE 48 LAWS OF POWER " (WHICH THE ILLUMINATI FOLLOWS) SAY THE FOLLOWING...
"....CRUSH THEIR BODY AND THEIR SPIRIT" [Google "48 Laws of Power"]
NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN THIS DUDE IS FACING THE DEATH PENALTY.
I BELIEVE HE IS REFUSING TO GIVE IN TO THE ILLUMINATI DEMANDS JUST LIKE PIMP-C, AND NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO DESTROY THE DUDE.
I WILL SAY PRAYERS FOR HIM.
AND ON ANOTHER NOTE, T.I. HAS NOW BECOME A FRAUD
HE SOLD HIS SOUL, AND THE VIDEO FOR HIS NEW SINGLE " I'M BACK " CLEARLY SHOWS THIS.
T.I. IS A FRAUD.
@ANN can u put the link up plz
GIVE BOZO BACK HIS HAIR AND CLOTHES.

UGH!!! THAT RUN SHE DOES AT 0.20 HAS ME GAGGING!! i don't give a FQQCK about her hair, clothes or about what you idiots are saying. This is talent at it's finest.
@ Ann...you have a sickness! Find help...you need treatment dear! Do it before it's too late!
Good to see Lauryn back and getting back on top of her game! Just what we need in this era of Nikki M. and those like her! LOL
Ann, Get Medicated!
Ann I believe u.....
our medication is the TRUTH
Damn, can't a sista get a press without mofos havin a fit up in here?! Lol..
Seriously, Lauryn looks and sounds good :)
@2:01
Name ANY female MC that did it better than Lauryn. Nobody can touch her lyrically and she can blow just as well as any R&B singer out there. In fact, I would put her up against any MC male or female and she will most definitely hold her own. She is a bad b!tch. Period.
ANN THAT IS A GOOD POINT
LORD JESUS!!! LAUREN HILL IS HOT LIKE FIRE!!!! AND THIS IS JUST A SAMPLE.... THEM A TRY TO PUT OUT HER FIRE BY WATERING HER DOWN WITH PAIN AND GRIEF....BUT SHE HAS COME BACK EVEN STRONGER THAN BEFOR!!!! THE WILL OF GOD WILL OVER COME ANY PLOT OF SATAN AND MAN!!!!!! @2:01PM

@ 2:31 PM ... youre delusional to say the least
her hair is till natural ain't nothing permed about that, it's just blown out (and maybe flat ironed a little) and it looks good and healthy

@7:58 No need to worry too much, that doesn't look like perm to me. Hard blow dry or press. I feel you on the natural hair thing though. I don't mind chicks pressing their hair erry now and then but this hatred of the kink is sad.
@6:16
B!tch you need to stop it..Lauryn ain't never been ugly a day in her life.
I guess you're into the self-hating, skin-bleaching, nose and cheekbone fixing, weave-wearing, "erase any sign of being black" thing, huh?
Don't be mad cuz this Queen is STILL doing it and she don't have to get naked to earn respect..
@7:58 LOL
Definitely not a perm..you can tell by the way her hair frizzes up in the heat.
L Boogie looks and sounds pretty good in the video. It has been a long time....
