What You Come Here For

That TMI, none of your business really, type gossip.

Toni Braxton is in foreclosure.

Toni Braxton and her estranged [is he still estranged?] husband Keri Lewis bought their Henderson, NV home in 2007 for $2.6 million. The 5,337-sqaure foot house has two floors, four fireplaces, a spa, and a three-car garage. Other features include built-in bookcases, a wine refrigerator, a swimming pool, and a balcony overlooking the hill and mountain views.

The foreclosure listing is for $1.5 million.

The outside look better than the inside. if I had the money I would buy it, just for the views alone. that being said, these mf's stay living above their means. and why don't they pay for these house's outright when they making that money. her living above her means ass, need to go sit down somewhere.

To be honest, I didnt know this yoddling voiced, past-her-prime, corny vegas act midget could afford a home like that. Wait a sec...well maybe she couldnt or else she wouldnt be getting rid of it AND it's a well known fact that mortgage companies where approving loans for folks that simply couldnt afford the house they wanted. Hmm...anyways...hope she gets a buyer soon.

The house is beautiful, and the price is very reasonable. I can't understand, if Toni paid $2.6 million in 2006 then why is it being foreclosed?

And folks don't be fooled, Toni has money, she just tries to live beyond her means. I mean she was making like $10 million a year on her Vegas act

Beautiful home!

I don't understand this level of FRONTING, especially for people with young children.

But I guess for some of us it's MORE important to stage a comfortable home life - to impress other people - than it is to actually maintain one for your own children.

Pure selfishness!

*thumbs down*

Shucks, Half the Mavericks in the 90's were Hittin' it, She broke up the Team! So I know it was some good snatch!!!

We see this sort of thing every day. There are plenty of dudes at my job that live the same way. They work all of this overtime ( basically live off overtime), and spend money as if they were multi-millionaires. So Stupid.

And that most pathetic thing is that they can't see the error of their ways.

This one idiot at the job had the nerve to stereotype the situation talkin bout " you know how we black folks do " SMH

I mean who really are they trying sooooo hard to impress??????

It can't be the joneses because the joneses know that you are broke, and that's why the joneses keep you on that hampster wheel. LoL!

Anonymous said...

She probably could afford it at one point in time, but not anymore. I agree with Nubian though. I can never understand why these celebs (the ones with loooooooooong money) never outright buy any type of property, paying on like they are the average american. I wish I came into some millions; there's some houses in Acworth and Vinings that I would love to buy.

Anonymous said...

yeah she might be making 10 milli a year but how much of that does SHE SEE? What does she NET? What other bills does she have? Folks who make money can be just as bad as broke folks when it comes to their spending habits.

Anonymous said...

Hopefully she will land on her feet. Vegas performers make really good money. Maybe she stopped paying to avoid having to giver her husband half in the event of divorce.

NO WITH BIG ESTATES LIKE THIS WHEN YOU HAVE THE MONEY PAY IT OFF RIGHT AWAY. YOU MAY BE ROLLING IN THE MOMENT AT THE MOMENT BUT WITH THIS TYPE OF CAREER THE WELL CAN RUN DRY VERY QUICKLY ON YOUR AZZ.

@ AnRnBThug, Maybe it was just READILY AVAILABLE. If she hitting big dicked ball players like that...her walls got to be rubbery with a LOT of slack. Maybe that throat pussy or asshole served her better. who knows?

Question... in 2007, she was doing her Vegas act... why didn't she just put down 2.6mil cash for the damn house and call it a day? Seriously... you're making a killing with a nightly Vegas act and you can't pay cash for your home? Gimme a break and STOP LIVING ABOUT YOUR MEANS PEOPLE!

p.s.

The only thing worse than living above your means is WORKING FOR someone living above their means.

Been there and done that, and it ain't funny or cute. >:/

hey, I thought she backed out of that Vegas gig and then tried to sue for more money.. plus, the gov (taxes) probably got almost have of that 10 million, then she got to pay people on her pay roll. Then, there's daily living expenses I wouldn't surprise if she only pocketed 3.5 million of that 10 million.

TONY BRAXTON KNEW DAMN WELL HER GIG IN VEGAS WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THAT HOUSE!

The water bill must to have been $2000 per month in order to keep everything that green in the desert as Henderson is a suburb of Las Vegas!

Anonymous said...

I just don't think she wants to live in Henderson anymore, and came to Los Angeles where shit is higher to front. Now if you going to go broke, you will in Los Angeles, does her husband have a job??

To those who say she could've just cashed out -- it's obvious she never had the money to cash out in the first place. Toni, boo, what are you doing with your money? It's clear this chick has a horrible pattern of bad spending and needs either a better financial manager or just live like regular folks.

She should have learned after she filed bankruptcy the FIRST time that she needed better control of her money. Since then, she's been sued multiple times by multiple folks. She has no songwriting credits to live off of and let's face it, her prime was a long time ago.

Not to mention she has two kids, one of which has autism -- and I know them doctors ain't cheap.

OMG! Fuck Toni Braxton, yall did ANN just get on this blog and not quote a bible verse, make any references to blood offerings, condemn or judge????
It's a really beautiful day in the neighborhood yall! ANN I'm so proud of you Boo!!!

Anonymous said...

You folks can't seriously think she can't pay for this house.

Just because someone rich lets the bank foreclose doesn't mean they couldn't pay. It's not as if the rich need credit anyway.

We're talking about $15k a month on a $3M mortgage and I'm sure they put a substantial down payment on this place.

Hell, I know people in my hometown who can afford $2.5M houses and they don't make anywhere NEAR what Toni is getting in royalties from those old ass songs. LOL

Anonymous said...

A lot of people, celebs included, dont buy the house outright because they want to hold on to their cash plus get the tax exemption for the interest.

If you have more than one house, as most celebs do, the second and third properties are considered either an investment or a business expense. Toni had to have a place to live while performing in Vegas as part of her job. This was not their primary residence.

First off, Keri ain't had a job since Mint broke up in the late 90s (or early 2000s?. His dusty azz should have been out hustling for $$$ for his family. He wasn't and didn't and now there are back to Square One. She's too old, got two kids, and soon, and ex-husband. Wisen up, TB. You are too old to go crawling back to Babyface now. When is her Life After..TV One Special coming on? Boo.

why should we tear each other down. It's unfortunate the lady is losing her house. I would have bought a 500,000 dollar house and paid it in cash.

Anonymous said...

Say what y'all want about what celebs do with their money, but Toni is NOT one of those people. She has shown time and time again she cannot handle money. Hope that house wasn't in her name cause her credit score is probably in the low 400s at this point. When shit really hits the fan I hope her ass doesn't have to apply for any major credit.

Anonymous said...

I saw this on LUXIST.com they have beautiful mansions on there that you can look at or buy if you got it like that...just sayin

LMAO cuz i'm numba 1

Anonymous said...

I really dont have the #'s to be spitting this, but i'm sorry people, but no one in their right mindes should really buy a house right out. Why, because taxes alone will kick your ass, so say you do decide to see a house for 500,000,never buy right out, pay half off, and then take 30 yrs just like every other home owner and pay that bitch off, then by the time they get to where they are now, that how would work for them, its called escrow.

The above is incorrect: KERI may have left the group, but they've NOT broken up: Mint Condition is in the studio about to release THEIR 3RD ALBUM MINUS THE INVOLVEMENT OF KERI, just performed with Prince in Europe and are doing well for themselves. And before anyone asks "do you know them?", the answer is yes, I do, and have for the last 10 years.

@2:21

Buying a home fully paid for means you don't have a mortgage. Mortgage is like rent -- it's due every month, right? Well, half the reason why folks out here lost their homes is because adjustable rates went up without the buyer's consent or approval. The other half lost their jobs and just couldn't afford to pay, and once you miss a payment or two it's a wrap. It's smarter to cash out on a home so you won't have a monthly payment to worry about. Taxes aren't monthly...it's easier to stack money for the tax bill when you don't have a mortgage eating half your income every month.

Anonymous said...

Seems like a good price for all of that. Too bad she couldn't budget her money better.

Anonymous said...

Toni is letting the house go because it's worth less now then what she paid for it. The price of housing is not going back up that bubble has burst. Smart move.

Anonymous said...

It may be easier to stack money for the property tax than a mortgage, but what about the income tax someone in this tax bracket has to pay? The interest on the mortgage is a write-off and helps reduce their taxable income. When you make millions, any help they can get in reducing that tax bill is appreciated and the interest on the mortgage payment does just that.

This was not her main residence, so business as usual. She will be fine.

Nat said...

wow yall hate everybody... some of you must really be evil mean people with no friends....

i think a short sale will get rid of that house and liquidate all major debts by the time of divorce will help her out a lot. im sure kerry no job having ass will ask for alimony. . im sure her atty told her to drop the house and kerry certainly cant afford that home with no job.

Anonymous said...

@3:27

Ummm if Toni had done all that, then she wouldn't be in the situation she's in now. The tax man hit her up this year looking for his cut:

http://www.rhymeswithsnitch.com/2010/04/pay-your-taxes-people.html

She should have cashed out on a home, plain and simple. And why she was living in a $2.6 million house temporarily, when a $500K would've done just fine is beyond me.

Anyway, I love Toni, wish her the best.

1:17 1:22 2:21 3:27 3:29 are on point.

People didn't lose their houses on ARM's because the rates flexed "without their permission". The rates are posted within their mortgage packet. The first years are fixed and flex UP OR DOWN, thereafter. A lot of people either chose not to refinance after the fixed years in their ARM or didn't build their credit back up to get into a better mortgage. And some who did sit at the closing table didn't want to pay more with the fixed and opted for the ARM. The others were unfortunate to lose their income.

On another note, a lot of people choose to have their taxes incorporated into their monthly mortgage payment. Another group without a mortgage may pay taxes monthly (as they would a mortgage/rent) so as not to have to pay a lump sum when taxes are due.

ANON1 said...

P.S. if people did buy houses at the value in the early and mid 2000's they aren't nearly worth the same amount. A lot of mortgages are upside down and people choose to walk away and let the property go into foreclose rather than pay on a home where they will never get the value. FORECLOSURE DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE BROKE! Hell, I know plenty who allow properties to hit the sheriff sale and buy it back at the lower value.

Anonymous said...

I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like (if I were a rich celeb and) if there's one home that I will permanently live in, I would want it paid in full. Everyone has a different tax bracket, so they'll have to deal with (an increase or decrease in property taxes) regardless. And as far as secondary homes go, I would prefer an lux apartment or a condo, because I wouldn't want to be stuck with a large home worth that much money, paying on it, along with utilities and other expenses that are required to keep it up.

Anonymous said...

SMH, their poor children.

Anonymous said...

When are celebs gonna learn! When you have a temporary gig, you don't buy, you RENT!!! There are a lot of expensive rental mansions out there that never sell! A lot of celebs in hollyweird rent instead of owning! She needs a better financial manager.

One of the most overrated, extreme nose-job havin' ass birds to ever waste the industry's time. Ok, Toni's music did bump for a minute. Time to take off the spandex body suit and ride off into obscurity, momma.

Beautiful house!

Wow all the negative comments. SMDH.

So i guess the "so called" entertainers of today can look forward to being thrown under the bus in a few years, too.

And Toni can actually SING! WTF is going to happen to the rihanna's, beyonces, and other weak entertainers? I guess they will be skinned alive. SMDH!

Anonymous said...

You can tell nobody on this board has any money... the more expensive the house.. the more the taxes... the more the tax breaks on the income. Nobody pays cash for a house, unless theyre too stupid to have financial counsel. Tony's situation changed it can happen to any of us...

Anonymous said...

why would you pay cash for a house. your ass might die after a year or two of owning a paid in full house, so now not only are you dead but your dead and dumb cause you paid all that money for something that you couldn't even use for thirty years. moral of the story-you never know what's going to happen in the future, you might wanna move someday, you might have to move so you can find a job in a bad economy, anything can happen, it is better to have an affordable mortgage or rent.

To the poster that said Mint condition is still a group is indeed correct. My friend is close with one of the members. In fact, they performed in the super lounge at the essence festival and tore it up! my question is: was Keri asked to leave or left on his own? And whatever the case was, why didn't he join another band instead of being a stay home dad and allegedly sleeping with her younger sister?

Anonymous said...

@10:43PM

WTF? What does being dead have to do with owning a home? You can rent/pay a mortgage and be offed in a year so you're dead and you have a house your dead azz still has to pay off. What's the difference? SMH. I swear the thoughtless shit some of you people say just to prove a point.

Anonymous said...

Remember Toni has been in and out of the hospital for years now. Im sure the bills was racking in plenty of her income as well as talking care of the landscape,Electric,water,garbage,ect..did I say ELECTRIC? we all know how high a fuckin electric bill can be. But her being sick isnt helpping.

Get Well Toni.. I still think Youre a Good Person.

Anonymous said...

talking = taking

Anonymous said...

I can't believe the thoughtless remarks here. Do any of you read real newspapers? None of us has any idea what Toni's finances are. Perhaps she can afford the house, perhaps not. But keep in mind that Las Vegas (and Henderson) housing is "under water." That is, whatever Toni paid for her house when she bought it, it is no longer worth that market value, and may never be so for decades. It may be in her best interest to walk away from the mortgage rather than continue paying. Google the NYT article, "Biggest Defaulters on Mortgagers Are the Rich," for a fresh perspective.

*evaporating at last allegation about Keri and sister-in-law*

@ Anon: Keri left on his own: I met the band right before he left in 2000 and according to one of the members, Toni would call him WHILE HE WAS PERFORMING ON STAGE AND DEMAND THAT HE LEAVE AND TAKE HER CALLS, ETC.!!! They weren't exactly thrilled to see him leave, but no one stopped him. The relations were strained for years (esp. between Keri and Rick, the guitarist/bassist), but they've all professed to be cool with him now and don't rule out working with him again in the future.

Anonymous said...

^^ thanks for that answer on keri..reagrding the sister in law, that is considered old news in some circles in atlanta. I live north of atl, but have many friends there.

That is a shame. She has a family and kids. When you have a family you have to think about your kids first before you spend all your money away. I thought Oprah talked to her after her 1st bankruptcy. There is nothing wrong with having a house like that if you negotiation, pay for it in full, and can actually afford it.
