Lauryn Hill recently announced a limited tour of national concert dates at small venues. The first show was at The Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn and started with a bang. L Boogie showed up hours late and had a few choice words for any fans who felt some kind of way about it.

I saw lauryn hill perform lst year, and I was in no rush to get to the concert.Why? because she is known for showing up super LATE! I got there an hour late, and she came out like 20 minutes later. I enjoyed myself. The best thing to do at at one of her concerts is get a friend to text you while you eating out when lauryn is about to perform. that's what i did. I enjoyed her performance and went home with a smile on my face. She is always super late!

It's important to be professional and realize that her audience has lives of their own and their time is as important as hers. Just because you are a celebrity does not mean that the hard working folks out there who pay their hard-earned dollars are less pressed for time than she is. They have children and jobs---no maids, no nannies, no personal drivers, and no excuses to be made when they have to get up for work the next morning deprived of sleep because L-Boogie held them up for 2 hours. It was a half-azzed apology because she apologized for being late, but stated (paraphrased) that she gave no apologies for the process that she had to go through to make the show happen. Still rude and unprofessional. Apologize and leave it at that. Be humble. Don't make excuses. A great artist realizes that the fans are the reason that she sleeps comfortably.

I've been blessed enough to witness some certified GREATS perform live in my young life: Michael Jackson, Prince, Tina Turner, The Rolling Stones, EW&F, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker---and NONE OF THEM were late. She is TRIPPING and I would've been up in that box office getting my money back. Her fans have lives and priorities too, that was arrogant and uncalled for!

As a former opera singer, I can tell you that singers have a VERY HARD time singing if the temperature is higher than 75 degrees, that might have been the issue, but it's still unprofessional to keep people waiting.

Real Talk: Its a bad economy. People work hard to pay for tickets to events, and a late start time is unfair to fans. Not only are they paying the ticket price, but MTA fares/gas and parking. Along with that, maybe they're paying babysitters, etc. (including overtime rates).
In addition, certain train lines are cut to once an hour depending on where you're going, so after midnight, you're stuck. These are the same fans that stuck by Lauryn when she was dressing like Bozo the Clown and showing up looking ashy to Martha Stewart book signings at Williams-Sonoma.
We're not that far removed from that, and one would think for the sake of future bookings she would show up on time.......

These concert promoters to to add in the contract that for every 30 minutes an entertainer is late the entertainer loses 25% of ticket sales, i'll bet they will show up on time then.
