I actually like this couple because they do everything together and seem to have a lot of fun. It's hard for me to comment on him not spending time with his kids because he could be court-ordered to only get them for the summer and certain holidays. It may not be that he doesn't want to spend time with them, he may not be able to until it is his time to get them.
