"That night was a turning point for me. Until that night, I had defended Tyler to anyone close enough to me to know the true story. I’m talking about the truth; not the spin he puts out on Oprah or the half-truth you can read on his website. I’m talking about the real story of how he went from being a failed playwright performing in churches for fifty people, to being Tyler Perry. I’m talking about the time in the beginning when I had lost my job and would take money from my wife and send it to Tyler to help pay his bills. I know what happened because I was there and, what’s more important, Tyler knows I was there.
His words, "Melvin here was my first promoter," rolled around in my mind as I got closer and closer to home.
The more I thought about it, the more it started to piss me off. Was I just a promoter when you came to me for a loan because you didn’t have the money to pay your cast? Was I just a promoter when you called me to borrow money to buy food or when I personally paid for the hotel you were living in while you were supposedly homeless? Maybe I was and if that’s the case, then so be it. But guess what? Regardless of what he wants to call me, I was there. And because I was there, I also have a story to tell.

Still not sure why he is mad. If you did indeed help him out, were you doing it out of the goodness of your heart, or because you were looking for something in return. I'm confused. Did he feel like he hasn't gotten enough shine? Did Tyler not thank him? Did he not get paid back? I mean, what is he looking for? Tyler Perry has said he was broke, homeless, and putting on plays with barely an audience. I remember Tyler saying that he had someone who believed in him and gave him money to fund his plays, but I don't know if it was this dude or not. It is very true you never understand a person heart or situation until you have felt the same pain and betrayel yourself. Now Tyler has never done anything publicity to make me want to reject him but all things done in the dark eventually will come to the light. I think that you can come into Holyywood with very good intentions and with a good heart but something about that environment turns you into a very selfish, self indulgent person that only see one way of life and is your way. If what the man said was true and he gave that much of himself the Tyler could have found many ways to end this union where both of them could have been happy. I really can't say beyond the clip because I wasn't there to really give a full glispe of the story. Unless this man has really wrong Tyler in some way the way that he treated him is not of GOD teachings.
@8:01 you don't always have to feel the same pain or situation to empathise with someone. ... And true, you never know a persons heart because people do experience things differently. Others are grateful to not have such experiences but can have empathy for another persons pain or situation.
One thing for sure in life, you can give your all and people want more. No matter what you do, it never seems to be enough to please everybody or some people. Most successful people have someone at some point that is unhappy and have something to say. That's just a part of life.
