Jay Z to Play Carnegie Hall

Earlier this year Jay Z raised more than $1 million for the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation by staging a carnival on Pier 54 in New York [click here if you missed that].

For his next fundraiser Jay Z is planning two benefit concerts at the famed Carnegie Hall in New York, but if you want to purchase tickets you better start saving now...

While most of the tickets will be sold privately, a few will be made available to the general public ranging between $500 and $2,500.

The Shaw Carter Scholarship Foundations' goal is to reduce the drop out rate of New York City teenagers and assist with college tuition.

Until this year, Jay-Z has financed the foundation out of his own pocket, providing yearly scholarships of between $1,500 and $2,500 to dozens of students who have gotten into college. The foundation also pays for high school students from poor areas to visit college campuses. “All that time we were doing this pretty much on our own,” he said. “There was no fund-raising. It was all me.”

The benefit concerts will be held on February 6 and 7. Tickets go on sale January 30.
