From ABC News Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.
Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.

I don't think it was drug related (directly), but because Whitney was really too young to die of natural causes, I could guess that the drug abuse caused irreversible damage to vital organs. Namely her heart. It is common for crack abusers to develop serious heart problems among other things.

I grew up with this woman, MJ, Selena, Etta, Gerald, all the great. I was born in the 80s and these were the people who I could always count on for real music and heartfelt lyrics.
Whitney, one of the Holy Trinity of Voices in the history of music, will never be forgotten and even though my tears are for her no longer being with us, I know she in a better place and hopefully at peace. She may have struggled but I believe she loved the Lord with all her heart and soul.
And on a human and more petty note, as much as it pains me that it had to be this way, the Grammys are now officially back to focusing on the greats tmorrow. Despite of what anyone may think of the choices she made in life, what is undeniable is her amazing ,God-given talent. She will forever be a music legend.The music world has lost some pretty incredible people here lately, but in my book, this loss takes the cake. My thoughts and prayers are with her mother, daughter, and all who knew and loved her. I am forever a fan of her musical artistry of Whitney Houston

The very untimely and very unexpected death of this master vocalist and master show woman is truly some devastating and sad, sad, sad news. Since the late Michael Jackson's and the late Etta James' passings, I don't think I've heard any sadder news than this about Miss Whitney. I am utterly shocked and bewildered at this, as I'm sure everyone else in the world is. You really just don't know what to say. I know I don't. Lord have mercy, sweet Jesus, sweet Savior. What in the world is going on? This is too tragic, this is too much.
My deepest and sincerest sympathies go out to all of her family members and true friends who steadfastly stood by her side and saw her through all the darkest hours in her life. I cannot imagine the emotional devastation all of them must be feeling right now.

I am actually happy for Whitney, maybe now she can finally REST. She lived a HARD life and she felt everything. I hope she is somewhere in true peace right now, looking down on all of us with gratitude. But I know how hard this must be for her family and friends. Sometimes it is those who have the shakiest lives that have the most support. We will ALWAYS love you, Whitney.

I have no sympathy for her, but I do feel for those she left behind. Sure, some people will make a lot of money off of the proceeds from whatever she was affiliated with that sells from here on, BUT, a lot of people behind the scenes depended upon her for their liveliehood throughout her career and to them she had to have been a huge let down. What musician, stage hand, road crew, makeup artist, recording studio, songwriter, or person of any other associated professional occupation wants to earn a living off someone so irresponsible?
