They should've at least covered up that ghetto looking building near the church, and why is that big Uhaul truck sitting in the parking lot?

I still can't believe she's gone.
Don Lemon is Killing me talking about the baptist church. I can't STAND Jesse Jackson, he needs to sit down, he is NOT TO BE TRUSTED!

Everybody trying to cash in on Whitney! Bobby Cristina needs to watch out since she is the heir to Whitney's fortune. Sony is already doing their devilment. Future artists need to know that these companies OWN you once you sign on the dotted line. DO NOT sign 360 contracts! They turn straight guys gay and use the women up until they've made every dime with you.

I don't know if I'll be up for watching it. I've been reading articles this morning out of curiosity to what is going on. I have a little anxiety over the whole thing. Today really makes this situation real more than days in the past week. I shed a few tears this morning. This is really sad but I'm glad she will get the homegoing this queen deserves!

Wow, what a powerful intro by Cissy & Whitney Singing.

So is Aretha Franklin not coming to Whitney funeral? Were they estranged over last few years, reason why Aretha didn't ask Nippy to cast in her big scree Bio movie.

I know one thing: this is so heartbreaking and unbelievable to me. I still can't understand the reason or reasons why this woman is dead. I don't think I'll ever be able to understand. I know I didn't know Miss Diva personally, but her sudden death, to me, hurts just like having a real sister of mine dying. Seems like she has been a part of my own life since forever. But I'm not gonna cry, not gonna feel sad. Matter of fact, I'm glad 'cause now she aint gotta deal with two-faced people smiling in her face but then saying hurtful things about her as soon as her back is turned. People will ride with you when your car is rolling; they will raise an eyebrow when your car starts running outta gas; they'll completely run off and leave you when your car breaks down altogether. But God is good. Yes, He is. He's always with you from beginning to end, and when your car breaks down, that's when He picks you up into His loving arms and carries you the rest of the way. I think subconsciously and spiritually, some people know when the end is near for them because they confess the name of the Lord Jesus Christ right before. Perhaps that's why her final song was "Yes, Jesus Loves Me". It was the song that was in her heart.

RIP sista, songbird.

Bobby Brown, the ex-husband of Whitney Houston, left the New Hope Baptist Church just minutes before the funeral was to begin.
According to a person familiar with the situation, Brown brought an entourage of nine people with him to the Newark church and wanted them to sit with them in the family section.
"They were asked to leave," the person said, referring to the entourage. Brown was not asked to leave, but "he left with the other people," according to the person, who was not at liberty to discuss the situation publicly.
Brown appeared visibly upset as he left the church and got into a black Cadillac SUV.

He wasn't going to get his way an mess up the arranged plans. There were no exceptions and that's the way it should have been. This is all about Whitney and celebrating her life and legacy...nothing else matters!

I also believe that it was Bobby's other kids who weren't welcomed to the funeral so he left. Yet Tyler, Alica and Jesse all sitting up in the pulpit.

Doesn't excuse him not sitting there with his daughter...she may be there with her grandma.

Only folks I see there that are welcomed are Bebe and CeCe cause their brother is the pastor of the church who married Whitney and Bobby 20yrs ago.

You are misinformed.

Cissy used to sing back up for Aretha. It is well documented that Whitney was with her Mommy at the infamous recording of "Ain't No Way", Cissy was that high soprano rocking in the background. That tune was recorded in late 1967 or early 1968 and released in '68. Houston was born in 63, so she would have been 4 or 5 years of age (4 years old was what has been normally reported).

Only Bobby would be allowed to sit up front, that decision is up to Cissy. If Bobby had not been spitting in his wife's face and running up charges for his side pieces on his wife's credit card, if he had gone to Cali and retrieved his wife as she said she hoped that he would do, he would still be the husband.

THEN he could have handled who sat where.

As it stands, he is the EX husband and was invited out of respect for Bobbi. This is NOT about Bobbi and all of those children he dragged around who he did not feel the need to pay child support for.

This is about sending this woman off in peace.

She coulda stayed her ass at home with tucan sam. Who is the lady that sang with the choir in the beginning?? Anybody know? She sounds so much like Whitney..beautiful voice. I have no words for Jesse Jackson, Tyler Fairy OR TD Jakes being up there. All of them shoulda been excused. And what was up with Kim Burrel deviating away from the program and singing her OWN Song for Whitney, which was awful by btw. Cissy and Aretha are close. Very close. I don't think there was any drama between Aretha and Whitney.

If you ever followed Aretha interviews over the years, Aretha does not exhibit a lot of emotion. She never has. Her interview style is rather dry, I don't think that she is really comfortable with it, she definitely was not coached on how to conduct a "proper" interview. She is simply being herself.

Having said all of that, I saw the interview where she said she would sing because Cissy asked her to. She said it would be hard, but she would do her best.

I really think that Aretha could not handle being at that funeral for Whitney.

I cannot throw shade at her because I could not and did not attend the funeral of my own father. Whatever anyone else's opinion, I could not and I loved him so.

Just got word that Bobby Brown DID NOT attend Whitney Houston's funeral service. Why, you ask??

Well according to reports, Bobby was ANGRY that the family did not allow him to SPEAK during the service. We're told that family members did not TRUST that Bobby would make an appropriate speech.

He was supposed to sit NEXT to his daughter Bobbi Kristina. She had an EMPTY SEAT next to her for the entire funeral.

Bobby is a disgrace!! We all pray that Bobbi Kris makes it through this difficult time.

Keep in mind that Aretha Franklin lost her mother when she was ten years old. We dont' know what kind of memories and feelings that are being dredged up, even in her old age.

Bobbi Kris is just a young child too, relative losing her mother.

We don't know what is going on inside of person, I do believe that Aretha is suffering a loss that none of can understand given the history that she shares with Cissy, Whitney and her family.

WHy did that fool show up and show out, then?

He was pictured outside of the church carrying on.

Sharpton tweeted that he was trying to calm that fool down from sucking attention and energy away from the celebration of Whitney's life.

Bobby Brown was ALWAYS jealous of Whitney, she said it more than once. He just had to show her up, even as she's laid out in a casket.

Whitney said that he let his daughter down, making promises he would not keep.

Well, he let his daughter down again, leaving her with an empty seat.

You can best believe that he will be in Bobbi K's pocket if there is any money left in Whitney's estate.

It's always about Bobby, but Whitney's family was not having that today. GOOD FOR THEM!

1. It's astounding to me that someone noticed the attire of Cissy. I simply saw a woman visibly grieving for her daughter. What was the eulogy topic? "Priorities?" Not criticising, just saying.
2. I don't believe MTO for a minute. I can see him more upset over Whitney's step children not being allowed in.
3. R Kelly must've been choked up, because he sounded like shit. If you wrote the damn song, I expect better.
4. Alicia Keys was ratchet. Sometimes I wonder how she ever got a record deal. Always seem off key to me.
5. Whitney, we love you and will never forget you. You're home, sweet baby. Enjoy Paradise.

Bobby issued a statement. Saw it on CNN. I respect was he said. Too bad he couldn't just bit the bullet and be there for Bobbi K anyway

Some of you need to seriously consider the words of her bodyguards in regards to the treatment of celebrities.

Bobby had every right to speak! Whitney lost her voice over a decade ago, music isn't dead. Their are and will be great singers again, all isn't lost. A great singer succumbed to drugs I just can't fathom. I know people who were born with physical disabilities and never turned to drugs as an escape!

Thank you Cissy and the Houston family for allowing and sharing your final moment with your beloved daughter Whitney with us. Truly a beautiful service, you honored her well, thank you... I love you Whitney and I will certainly miss your beautiful angelic soul and voice. Now Rest In Peace Diva, you've done you job here brilliantly. You left us all with nothing but LOVE in our hearts for you and life in general...THANK YOU DIVA.* tosses a single red rose*

The saddest part for me was when they played I will always love you as they rolled her casket out of the church. Man I just cried.

@4:01

Aretha may have found out about the death by TV because people in the room started telling people she was dead before the family was alerted. Whitney's PR person put out a story that Whitney hadn't passed before it was made official. That was either because the PR person didn't know yet or they wanted the media to shut up for long enough so they could call the family. When you watch the news in the death of a non-famous person they often say "the identity of the person has not been released" this is so the police and the family can alert those in the family who need to know before they see it on TV.

Anonymous said...

The service was exactly like you would expect it to be if Whitney wasn't this huge star.

Thought the Winans and Ricky Minor were the most sincere. They really gave you insight into the type of person Whitney was.

Anonymous said...

Chills......

Kim Burrell's singing was the best. After listening to her sing "Change has come", I couldn't stand the screech of Alicia's voice. Don't get me wrong, but Kim was powerful and the best voice during the service.

RIP Nippy, We will always love you!!!

Could that entourage have been Bobby's other children who know damn well Whitney supported them but they were not invited still they wanted to pay their last respects too. Personally if I were left with such a choice I don't know that I wouldn't have left with my unwelcomed family too.

Bobby might be a lot of things but he got a heart too dammit.

This here choir though...did anybody get any sleep last night and since when is ok to wear shades in the choir.

1:49 PM

The Houston family was gracious enough to give invites to Bobby's entourage. The funeral was invitation only and if they each have an invitation they would not have been allowed in the building.

BB has no rights other than he is the father of Whitney's daugther and given that, he could have a seat next to his daughter.

He did not have the right to rearrange family seating to suit his ego. He needed only one seat for himself in the family section and the rest of his posse could get in where they fit it.

@4:47pm, yeah but think about it, when Nippys mom was called first, do you think she was in any condition or state of mind to be hunting down Aretha?

I think its something else Aretha is harboring.

Anonymous said...

glad brandy wasent asked to speak.aretha may have been to hurt to sing

Anonymous said...

@4:58

I'm not negating that fact one bit only saying that the word that Whitney died was out well before the family knew. There was no other way for Aretha to find out other than watching the TV like everyone else including Whits family.

Okay I missed the beginning and just saw a clip of Alicia Keys' song. Wtf was that??? Saddest part for me was when they played "I Will Always Love You". Beautiful service for a beautiful woman. R.I.P. Whitney...

Bobby Brown showed his true colors today. The fact that he left showed me his ego meant more to him than paying respects to his ex-wife and being there for his daughter. He should have taken his seat next to his daughter and the rest could have sat elsewhere. He left due to seating arrangements!!??!! He's trash. For just one day he could have left his ignorance at the door of the sanctuary and respectfully sat with his daughter and been a father. His acting out and trying to cause a scene was a slap in the face to her family and her memory. NOTHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS ENOUGH FOR HIM TO LEAVE NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! Pure pettiness. Pure ignorance. She said herself he was jealous of her and even at her funeral he couldn't let it be just about her and paying respect. He should be ashamed as well as the "entourage" he came with.

Anonymous said...

Bobby should have sat beside his daughter and kept his mouth shut. He knew they were going to John Edwards his ass.

Anonymous said...

If it was about Bobby's kids and them not being invited did he ask if the children could come to the viewing the day before? Did he ask for a concession in their case. Also was it the kids or was it New Edition with him because there were rumors that Bobby wanted to perform with them at the church. I heard the Bobby was acting a plug fool on stage last night ending a Whitney Houston tribute with with "I'm Bad Ass Bobby Brown". If he's acting off his rocker then he shouldn't be allowed on the podium.

Anonymous said...

Aretha doesn't seem like the person that wants to be drawn into mess. I also think she was a bit put off by the "Aretha God Mother" name dropping. You don't see god parents mentioned when others died. At her age these type of things are too taxing and draining. The body is gone and the funeral is for the living; every one morns in their own way so maybe Ree felt staying home was best.

Anonymous said...

Bobby Brown would have got to that podium and acted a fool and the family knew it. His behavior today just showcased more to the world what he is...COMPLETE TRASH

Anonymous said...

Donnie McClurkin did a great job although he was starting to sound like Kermit The Frong for a moment towards the end.

Anonymous said...

BOBBY IS SAYING THAT HE AND THE KIDS WERE INVITED. THAT WHEN THEY GOT IN THEY WERE ASKED TO MOVE THREE TIMES. ALSO THAT HE TRIED TO SIT NEAR BOBBIE CHRISTINA AND WASN'T ALLOWED. NOW I DOUBT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED TO LEAVE THE BUILDING MAYBE THEY WERE SITTING IN THE WRONG AREA. BE HUMBLE AND KILL YOUR EGO AND SIT WHERE YOU'RE ASKED. BE THERE FOR YOUR CHILD NO MATTER WHERE YOU'RE SITTING.

I got the impression from Aretha that she disapproved of some of the people around Whitney and in part blame them for her demise, without saying, and simply didn't want to be around them. I figure she would just catch up with Cissy later and both women were mature enough to understand that. Aretha may be a good friend, but I'm sure she's not the only friend and she certainly isn't a blood relative. Cissy had plenty of people around her to console her, but ultimately she has to grieve in her own way and I'm sure Whitney had a lot of unfinished business that her mother might have to follow up on, in addition to the well being of Bobbi K. Cissy's got an awful lot going on.

I heard on a news report this morning that Aretha had suffered an emotional episode at the last minute and was too distraught/sick to attend.

I don't know why Jesse Jackson was up in the pulpit. He might have been invited by the family to attend, but if someone asked him to sit in the pulpit, he could've graciously declined and had a seat in the congregation. I'm not even sure he's a true minister/pastor. All I know is that he's a Freemason. Don't know how other people feel about Freemasons, but I have very strong feelings against them. I was really impressed to see the Mayor of Newark, and the Governor of New Jersey, both there. As always, Stevie brought me to tears with his song. I loved Pastor Winan's short song "We'll Never Grow Old"; it's one of my favorite gospel hymns.

Don't know why Serita Jakes was up on stage, either, with that perpetual scowl on her face. They should've let Whitney's own personal pastor speak, instead of TD Jakes. Hate to say it, but I rolled my eyes at Tyler Perry and Alicia "Sings Off" Keys. As long as Beyonce wasn't there, or didn't sneak in, I'm good. I have no comment for C liveD avis.

Kevin Costner didn't even write his speech and I'm willing to bet he left right after he left the stage.

Y'ALL KNOW MESSE JESSE WASN'T PASSING UP AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE SEEN AT A HIGH PROFILE EVENT!

Anonymous said...

@5:27 No he didn't if you paid attention towards the end he walked out with his wife when everyone was being ushered after the service. I think Mr. Costner is a respectable man, shade is unnecessary.

The ending was so damn sad. It reminded me of MJ's memorial service in '09 (they had "Man in the Mirror" playing in the background while his casket was escorted). We lost two legends entirely too soon :(

RIP Whitney Houston

I can speak from experience when people die the family often wants people of "high reguard" to come and speak no matter how limited their knowledge is of the person that passed. My family did this and pretty much shut me down when I questioned who they were trying to get to come and who was allowed to speak. Families do strange things in general in these instances; they're really not thinking straight. I'm sure they'll even regret how they treated Bobbie after the dust settles.

Anonymous said...

Lord knows I'm not a Bey fan, but y'all are killing me with the comments. She didn't attend the funeral, BUT she did get an invitation. I doubt that she would've had to "sneak into" the funeral...

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't be surprised if Reetha opted not to attend after someone told her that saying Whit wasn't her goddaughter was in bad taste at the time considering she was going to be at the funeral the following day(s). Which is probably why Dionne felt the need to say "Reetha is Whitney's Godmother" like she was trying to prove it. If you listen to Dionne's tone it's as if she's trying to correct someone who said it wasn't true.

CeCe is so beautiful. I've been watching a few videos on YouTube with her and Whitney over the last few days, and was wondering what happened to her. It was so good to see her at the funeral. Stevie Wonder sang my fav song. "Loves In Need Of Love Today". Brought me to tears. Clive "The Demon" Davis p'd me off with his stories. I was so tempted to change the channel, but i knew if i did that i might have missed something. The choir singing at the beginning had me in tears. And i agree with all those on here that said the lady singing with the choir at the beginning sounded like Whitney. Especially when she hit those high notes like Whitney does. I got chills. I enjoyed her singing so much i was hoping she would have sang again. They would have been better off having that lady sing two songs, instead of Alicia. Alicia hadn't of bothered. When Kevin Costner said "damn" my eyes immediately looked at all those behind to him to see their facial expressions. As for Tyler Fairy i still don't get why he was there or why he got to give a speech. Speaking of people being there that shouldn't have been, R Kelly? Really? I know he wrote "Look To You" for Whitney 10-11yrs prior to her singing it, but still. I thought MTO was lying when they said he'd be performing.

Overall what a beautiful way to send off The Queen, The Voice Ms Whitney Houston. Her death still hasn't sunk in yet. My heart and prayers go out to Cissy and Bobbi Kristina.

RIP Whitney xx

Excellent, excellent, excellent service! CNN did a perfect job covering the service as well.
Kevin Costner said "damn" in church and his speech was way too long. People need to leave Bobby Brown alone. He is not the reason Whitney did drugs. Whitney would have wanted him at her funeral. Whitney sung at Bobby's fathers funeral two months ago. Bobby brought his children and his brother Tommy who was close to Nippy as well.

@4:31 When Ray (The Bodyguard) spoke about that. I thought about the blogs. And the mean things that some bloggers say about celebs. Some bloggers can be brutal. Stans and haters are one in the the same with the evil things they say.

Do not judge Miss Franklin, I too did not attend the service of someone I was EXTREMELY close to. For me I did not want to remember him that way and I also felt that he would not approve of the way things were handled. Trust me the ones closest are often the once who DO NOT want to participate for said reasons.

Anonymous said...

^ especially if the death was unexpected, for me it was like I did not want to accept the fact so I chose not to attend I don't know Miss Franklin personally but I can understand why she may not have wanted to attend. As long as Ms. Houston knew that Miss Frankling loved her when she was here that's all that really matters.

Whitney's body guard Ray gave the best speech. His words were REAL!

Bey didn't show up b/c she couldn't be the center of attraction. sorry I had to say it. Your funeral was beautiful Whitney and I'm sure you are smiling in heaven. You were so loved sweetheart. Rest among angels.

Tyler (supposedly) is solely the one responsible for flying her body back home. Go figure. I thought Clive would be the one to see to that. Maybe that was too much to expect from a parasitic bloodsucker. Anyway, Tyler's presence didn't bother me. I figured he would be among those likely to attend the event, but other than that the Holy Spirit should have run half of those money grubbing, devil worshiping industry motherfuckers up out of the church, including some of those fake, gospel singing fucks that claim they "Luv Da Lawd" *rolls eyes*.

Anonymous said...

6:07 PM, I didn't want to see his face today, so I'm glad I didn't. Something about him has always rubbed me the wrong way. I can't see where he was any better for Whitney than Bobby, but so be it. Those were her choices, but hardly her only options.
