Jada Pinkett Smith wrote a letter to the mayor of her hometown Baltimore, on behalf of PeTA advocating for elephants, urging the Mayor to make sure the Ringling Bros. Circus complies with the Baltimore ban on bull hooks.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was less than impressed...
Jada's letter read in part,
“Unlike me and other actors, elephants do not choose to perform. These endangered elephants will soon be in your jurisdiction. My friends at PETA and I join animal advocates across the state in asking for your leadership in holding Ringling accountable and requiring the circus to comply with Baltimore’s absolute prohibition of the use of devices such as bullhooks.”Yeah well, Mayor Stephanie has reached out to Jada in the past with no response and told a local TV station,
“We’ve reached out about homelessness, about school issues. I would have loved to gotten some feedback, support or concern about those issues that are very pressing to the city,”and went on to say she's liked the circus every since she was a little girl and couldn't wait to take her daughter. Ouch.

You are correct. The female mayor(or counsel person) in Baltimore was based off of the mayor Sheila somebody. She lost her job as mayor for stealing Old Navy gift cards (yup Old Navy not Neiman's,Barney's or Sak's but ole wash and wear one time Navy) that were supposed to be used for the kids of Baltimore.
It was not Old Navy gift cards, they were from Best Buy and the Wire was based on the mayor at the time who is now the governor of Maryland.
And yes, they were for the children of Baltimore but Former Mayor Sheila Dixon went out and bought electronics for her son and etc... this is happening in inner cities everywhere and yes, the current mayor would have lost, if the city of Baltimore had cared to get out and vote. I see nothing positive that she has done for the city so far. I think she's actually trying to privatize youth centers in the city. It's sad because we have people of color, leading our major inner cities and they are doing nothing but helping themselves and forgetting their own people. I never comment on here but too much incorrect information was being shared.
She needs to take a Dale Carnegie class on making friends and influencing people--this is a good example on how not to get what you want.

The gift cards Dixon was accused of stealing amounted to about $2500 and half of them were only found in her home and had not even been used. Yes she used a few of them to buy some electronic trinkets for her kids but her whole story was blown way out of proportion. On the other hand, you are right that Stephanie is only in office based on her nepotism and certainly hasn't done this city any good. Schaefer actually was a good man.
