Cissy Houston Breaks Her Silence

Nearly a month after the death of her famous daughter Whitney Houston, Cissy Houston is finally ready to talk and it's not to Oprah...

Cissy Houston sat down with New Jersey-based news station My9 in an interview that will air at 10:00 on Monday night.

In a clip from the interview, conducted at New Hope Baptist Church, Cissy reveals,
"I'm very proud of my daughter. She accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here... She was a very wonderful person."

''I know I did the best I could. I don't blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything.''

In the end, Cissy could only do so much. Whitney was a grown woman who did what she wanted to do.

I can't imagine the worry and anxiety of the parent of a drug abuser(s). Just consider the stress of the parent of a celebrity abuser. Everything on blast 24/7.

Every time the phone rings, you don't know if it's THAT call you never hope to get about your child.

Then you get that call...

God bless Cissy Houston.

I know everyong feels sorry for her, but let's keep it real: she could've done a LOT better job raising her. She dropped the ball big time.

I think Ms Cissy did the best she could do with her daughter and sons. She was the main bread winner in that family and was on the road a lot. Her father was there too; it wasn't like she had no parental supervision. And I know you cn do all you can with your child, instill values, church, demand good grades and they still end up being thugs and drug users. I have seen it in white and black families. Whitney was trained and groomed for two years before she was introduced to the public. Much in the way of Motown artist. In times, it sticks (Diana Ross) and sometimes it doesn't (Florence Ballard). The person is who they are. She was rich and could have whatever she wanted and be isolated to do as she wished. Whitney chose to do cocaine. Drugs have been inttroduced to me before and I declined and started feeding that person with a long handle spoon. Ultimately it is that persons choice as to how they want to live, if they want help and how seriously they take that help. The fault literally lies in fairview cemetary in that beautiful gown with that lost talent and beauty. Unfortunately and I regret it myself...

I know people (family included) raised in loving homes and given every advantage in world who chose drugs and hard core street life.

WH strikes me as someone like that. But her choices were her own and she hurt a lot of people because of them.
