Tika Sumpter is something else, a beauty of a different kind not better than Megan but along those lines. Anywho, I will not watch the trailer but I just wanted to comment on Tika

F*** this movie I can already tell it doesn't have NONE of the classic qualities as the first one. Sorry this cast just doesn't have it!

Im such a HUGE fan of the original movie. I dont think it should have been touched. Im also a Whitney fan and Im so confused about her murder I mean how ever they say she died. Im going to see the movie just to see Whit.

Jordan Sparks is a good fit for "Sparkle".

I am not feeling the broad who is playing "Sister". She just doesnt have that "hood edge" to her like Lonette McKee did. She sounds to squeaky and valley girlish. I aint feeling her.

Derek Luke as "Stacks"...NOT FEELING. I never liked him as an actor anyways and that Antwone Fisher movie was TOTALLY overrated.

SMH @ Mike Epps goofy looking ass playing "Satin"......what in the entire fuck? Satin was a dark, tall, handsome gorilla pimp who LOOKED like a street hustle straight out of a Donald Goines novel. Mike Epps looks like how he always does: A fucking joke.

Whitney as the mom...I am indifferent. They gave her a much bigger part than the original actress in the original movie. Dont know how I am feeling about Ms. Show me the receipts cast in this role.

All and all I might see it, just for filth...but I aint all too excited about it.

didn't like the original so I won't be seeing this one.Though I love Whitney.I think this film only showcased how color struck and anti-black black people, especially black men, have always been and always will be.

I will be going to see the new James Bond film though.

Wasn't Gloria Hendry beautiful http://jamesbond007.net/galerie/gloria1.html

And now Naomie Harris http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/jamesbond/9173632/Skyfall-Naomie-Harris-on-Bond-girl-Eve.html

can't wait.

If Whitney was alive would any of us be even talking about this movie at all. We would probably talking bad about Whitney. I'm just saying!!!

I agree, this movie doesn't do the first one any justice, understandably its sugar coated where the first classic was more raw, esp w/sista getting beat on etc. IDK i'll see it when it comes out on dvd for whitney but i'm st8 otherwise.

I'll wait until it's at the point of being reviewed and see what the viewers say. I don't see anything in this trailer that repels me.

I'll wait for cable. I totally agree with the posters that said that it's missing the raw and hood of the first one. It looks too glossy and too much like Dreamgirls.

I also agree with the poster who addressed the new cast. I can understand Whit as the mother (with her new role as failed singer) and Jordan Sparks as Sparkle. However, I can't get with the rest of the cast; especially the new Sister and Mike Epps. Shouldn't Satin be played by someone like 50?

Why is tongue tied, Derek Luke always being in the pretty boy roles? Cause' he just ain't got "It".

Meant to say being cast in pretty boy roles.

I agree with others who say the original "Sparkle" cannot be touched. It had everything: perfect sound track, great acting talent. I'm afraid that seeing Whitney in the new version will just overwhelm the entire film and be very heartbreaking.

I am not goin 2 see this at all.

i dont feel like this is Sparkle, its more like a Dreamgirls knockoff. I think they should have worked on the script to make this movie as an individual and i would have run to the theater just to see Whitney perform.

Beyonce should have been cast in this movie. I mean it will make a few dollars because Whitney is in it but if Bey was in it box office records would have been shattered.

**side eye** to ^^... smh..

Anyway.. I agree w/just about all that everyone said.. Not feeling Sista.. one thing about the original Sista was that she was gorgeous! Not that this one isn't but in the original.. her sisters were pretty.. but Sista was a stand out.. and I think Jordan is prettier.. so it kinda deminishes what was so outstanding about Sista... and Luke Derrick is too damn old to play this part. Sticks is a young go-getter w/big dreams.. and Luke looks about 35 in this movie.. *Yawn* to Mike Epps.. who would look at him and think smooth talker? and I'm not going to touch CeeLoo.. it's just too easy. I like Whitney as the mom, this script must be a big time overhaul from the original b/c the mom had a very small role. I would check it out though.
