Courts records show Julia Hudson was granted a divorce from William Balfour in December 2011 on the grounds of extreme mental cruelty. William did not contest the ruling.
William and Julia eloped in December 2006 shortly after William was released from prison for attempted murder when he was 17. Jennifer Hudson won the Oscar two months later.
Opening arguments for William's murder trial began next Monday.

Julia has always been big, and please keep in mind during the time Jen lost her weight, Julia was and IS dealing with the fact her husband killed her mom, her brother and her son. That's a lot. I've lost weight recently but what I realize it, it wasn't just about food, either. Anger, resentment, hatred and so many other emotional issues are weight as well. You have to want to lose weight! So maybe once this all 'goes away'- shell start taking better care of herself ( therapy and right eating)

You are right, over 14 years ago when I had my second daughter my before pregnancy was 128. when I got pregnant I went up to 210 lbs and stayed that way for couple of years, at the time I hated my job, was miserable in a marriage to a alcoholic and drug addict, I decided to sever the marriage and reclaim my body back, it was not that hard because I grew up as a vegetarian and was one for many years till the depression. I didn't do anything drastic just cut out the junk foods, red meat, bread and eat smaller portions of food and did yoga and pilates. in about a year my weight went down to 135, now at almost 45 and 5 kids later, I will never allow myself to get fat behind depression, anger and resentment, which leads many women to over eat. getting healthy does not have to be hard, quite frankly when I was that big I hated the way my body felt, who the fuck wants to walk up a flight of stairs and feel like they are going to kneel over and have no damn energy. that shit sucks!! her issues are more than just food and until she deals with the underlining issues affecting her. she will continue to be a prisoner in her own body.

I am 50 2 grown son 6 grandchildren in which people think I am their mother And my sons sister. I think more black women should watch ther weight and realize lower weight longer life span. As another poster said, if this were your family, would you want the conversation to be about the appearance and obesity of your sister, or yourself? You might ask yourself what is going on in your life to make you rant about this woman's weight. Or what's "not" going on in your life. Or maybe you need to get a life, one that is more fulfilling. Help someone, perhaps? It really makes humans feel good to do something positive, not just offer meaningless opinions. At the time, it might feel cathartic for you to say nasty things and have others agree with you. But it's like a sugar rush. It won't sustain you in the end. The soul cannot survive off junk.
