Rihanna Snags New Film Role

Rihanna's debut film may have sunk, they say Battleship is so bad the studio is holding up its US release, that's not stopping Rihanna from pursuing her big screen dreams.

Actor James Franco let it slip that Rihanna has a part in Seth Rogan's new film...

From Page Six
[James] Franco is hopeful that he will get to work with Rihanna in the future, as she recently made her acting debut in the film "Battleship."
"I think she's gonna be in the new movie that I'm doing, Seth Rogen's directorial debut," Franco said, referring to the film "The Apocalypse" in which he plays a guy throwing a house party as the world ends.
"I think she has a little part in that."

Seth must be giving her a part because:

A) He's sleeping with her
B) She got her ass beat by Chris Brown.

If this is true, I'm sure she fucked Seth and/or James to get the part.

^^^oh, and from what I saw of the trailer a while back, "Battleship" is nothing but "Transformers" on the water.

i had no hope for battleship anyway. as soon as i saw the added alien angle to battleship, i knew it was a wrap.

i have a feeling rihanna will do well as an actress. she did good on snl.

My brother saw the movie and he said that Rihanna was so good, that he didn't even know it was her. He didn't recognize her until I said that she starred in the movie.

So if the movie is bad, I don't think it's her fault.

To be honest Battleship looks super corny and I will pass on it but I think it's good she's trying acting. Good to try new things. Who knows, she might be good.

Sidenote* Love her with black hair. Makes her look ever better

@2:10 i agree. and the alien invasion thing is old now. Rihanna was good in the movie because she was probably being herself, not the wannabe thug, billy goat that she is always pretending to be. however that does not mean i want to see her in another movie.

Snitch get it right. It was reported that the movie made over 100 million dollars overseas even before it's US release.

Homegirl's nose is all over the damn place.

She really needs to trim that shit down and miss me with a super ass wide nose being a "black" feature. Shit, ain't nobody in my BLACK family got that shit.

Thank goodness.

I think that "Battleship" being released overseas first means that the studio is trying to make as much as they can beforehand because they don't have faith that it will pull blockbuster numbers in the U.S. I could be wrong, but that's how it sounds to me. *shrugs*

As for Rih, hopefully she's a better actress than Madonna and Beyonce. Maybe that can be her 2nd career if/when her singles and albums stop selling.

@7:22 pm --

"umm the movie("Battleship") grossed $131 million overseas... how did it fail again?"

"John Carter" in its 3rd week had a 'World Wide Grossed' of $234.4-Million.. B-U-T, it probably cost upwards of $350-Million in "final, get-to-theater" costs. Of that "final" cost, at least $100-Million in P/A cost!

Disney Studios just had to write down $200-Million, AND fired their CEO because of the financial disaster that was/is "John Carter".

"Battleship" is also, as was/is "John Carter" a film that could move a movie studio's fortunes for many quarters to come. The film industry calls them "tent-pole movies" (they financially "hold-up" a movie studio's fortunes).

According to deadline(dotcom)- "The studio claims the cost (for "Battleship") was $209M while outside sources say $250M." ..AND an additional $50-Million was JUST added to its promotional budget. So, "Battleship" has a production budget of $250-Million, and $50-Million for additional promotion, and probably the same promotion budget as "John Cater". So, when all is said and done, the "final get-to-theater cost" for "Battleship" will be $450-Million.

..But, for "Battleship" to NOT be a "failure" it has to earn 1.4 X $450-Million(known costs). That "1.4" is a film-industry metric used for calculating a film's profitability after overhead is factored in. 1.4 X $450-M = $630-Million!!

Going into this weekend, "Battleship" has earned $150-Million. But as you can see that's far-aways from that $480-Million it NOW must earn NOT to be a "failure".

Long-story short: Rihanna will be the face of a $450-Million disaster-at-sea!

X,Y,"and Z" -- OUT..!!
