Think Like a Man Holds on to First Place

Think Like a Man, based on the book 'Act Like a Lady Think Like a Man' by Steve Harvey, managed to hold on to the number one spot at the box office for the second week in a row...

Four new movies opened this weekend but Think Like a Man still pulled in over $18 million, bringing its 10 day total to more than $60 million.

According to the LA Times
...the film [with its] predominantly African American cast has already outgrossed a number of successful movies aimed at black audiences, including all but two of Tyler Perry's films.

I was really adamant about not going to see this movie because I can't stand Steve Harvey. My homegirl dragged me and I LOVED it. Its a great movie.

I loved the movie and will see it twice! It was so entertaining. Great cast and it made you walk away feeling real proud. I am happy for Steve Harvey. This is a must see movie. Kevin Hart showed out! full of laughter and some romance for the ladies. Hats off to the Producer/Director that brought this book to life and in good taste.
Love the Movie!!

thats because theres no real competition. this was a very smart strategy, to release when theres no one big coming out so they can have a pseudo number 1 movie.

there's no real competition perhaps because it's THAT good...you think y'all hate kevin hart now...wait til his tv show comes out

^^ no. if harry potter or transformers part a jillion, REAL competition, was released, this film would have been straight to dvd.

i agree with the other poster. good for them that they chose a date when a big film isnt releasing. music artists do the same thing.

hunger games @ $372 million isn't a blockbuster or competition? the Avengers should squash this quick

nothing came out...of course

@ 10:39 Reading comprehension is key. I suggest you enroll in remedial community college classes.

And I will quote myself;

" good for them that they chose a date when a big film isnt RELEASING".

I really enjoyed this movie. BIG fan of Megan Good! Went to iTunes to buy the song "tonight" which they played through out the whole movie.

These type of rom-coms don't and won't make as much money as a big budget action film anyway. Its all about timing and this is a big deal for a movie with a majority of african americans carrying the film no matter how you slice it. Congrats!!

Kudos to steve and to GAbbY with her fine barbie doll self.

This is great exposure for Gabby along with Dwayne in the playoffs (fuck lebron).

Gabby and Dwayne are the ultimate Black Power Couple

" Its all about timing" exactly. they released when there were no movies to compete with it, which is why its number one.

thats like releasing your album the same week as SWV and being happy you reached number one.

@ 11;21 lol exactly! like releasing an album the same week as ashanti, ciara, tiffany evans, soulja boy, and day26 and being happy u reached number one. PUHLEASE!

Take that you Kevin Hart hating dark butts.

Why the the negativity? [when it was released and blah blah] Damn, can we be happy for someone else's success?! People talking about strategic planning like they teach college courses on the matter with a MBA *hard eye roll* Congrats, to all involved with the movie.

@9:59

Same here. My husband bribed me with a snow crab leg dinner (which he knows I absolutely can NOT resist). However, the movie was good. It was very predictable (that part I hated) but, all in all it was delightfully enjoyable.

To all the Haters... A WIN is a WIN! Yes a strategic placing of a movie CAN make a difference, ALL the studios do it. The movie was great! And no matter how much you try to be-little it, it was still #1 for two weeks and will go down in the Books as such.
What's unfortunate is that Haters are not recognizing that by this movie "winning" the way it did, Film Studios will take notice and possibly "Green Light" more quality African American films similar to the 1990's and 1st early-mid 2000's.decade.
@9:59, I'm happy the movie changed your mind. It didn't have to but it did, and you are not alone on that. So it's a beautiful thing that Black people and everyone in-between went to see it whether to support it or just enjoy it.

this movie was trash. thank goodness i didnt spend a dollar on a ticket and watched it online for free instead.

@4:29am
Sadly I have to agree. I don't see what all the hype was about. The only funny parts were what they showed on the commercial. The rest was one big bore.

Definitely imagine that which you stated.

Your favourite reason seemed to be at the internet the simplest thing to keep in mind of.
I say to you, I definitely get annoyed even as other folks consider worries that they plainly do
not recognise about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the entire thing
with no need side effect , folks can take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
