What is the difference between renting and spending money on posh hotels? In both cases you do not own anything and are only allowed to stay in the allotted time paid for. So basically they are doing the same thing, renting and not owning. If they were to purchase property or the house than this story would make more sense. But basically they are still are zero-sum.
