Am I mad? No, more like I’m disappointed.
When I was attacked everyone thought it was funny. No one thought her actions were disgraceful. As a matter of fact the very same ladies (for lack of a better word) that are “hurt” by the backlash, joked about me being attacked. They laughed and even called me names for taking a stand against her.
I thought pressing charges was wack? Oooooh, I get it…it’s wack when it’s not you!
They all (except Royce) stood behind her, co-signing her actions. But now you want everyone to believe you want balance? As much as their hypocrisy bothers me, I expect it because now their actions threaten their money. So, I knew the crocodile tears weren’t far behind.
What really hurts me are all of the talk show hosts and journalists that are suddenly disturbed by what they are seeing. Taking stands, boycotting, signing petitions etc…Isn’t this what I contacted all of you about last year? I asked for your support, none of which I received. But now it’s a problem? So, it was ok for me to be physically assaulted? Where was all of this “Call To Action” last year? Am I less of a human being?

I don't know if this is a light skinned vs dark skinned issue, but, I will say that the treatment of lighter skinned tones is very apparent in our society - and yes it does breed resentment. Lighter skinned blacks have been pitted against darker skinned blacks for hundreds of years. Slavery may be long gone but our current society continues to show favortism, via media print ads, television, film etc., there is a global campaign showcasing light, w/ European features is beautiful. That is not true. The light skinned vs dark skinned began during slavery. The races weren't really being mixed until during the slave trade when the yts started raping and procreating w/ blacks. The lighter skinned blacks were considered less "beastly" and more "feminine/cultured", therefore, they were kept out of the fields and into the "big house". That's factual. So all that nonsense about light vs dark not starting until the Jim Crow era is bullshyt. The animosity b/t lights and darks had begun hundreds of years before that era. Racism/prejuidice isn't created in the home - it's implied in societal values- what's considered beautiful, kind, cultured, intelligent, violent, aggressive etc., It's when our people leave the home, or turn on the television, that they see that certain behaviors and characteristics are associated w/ people that look like them - or look like someone in their family. Actually no this light vs dark is an issue all over the world when all people whether it be people of color and even white people. I'm lighter skinned and have a sister who is dark but I can tell you that people of other races Hispanics and Indo/Pakistanis have blatantly treated us differently growing up and even into adulthood. I've even seen it happen at work where an Indian customer said he came to me for help over another black co-worker because of my complexion. It's not just black people with these hang ups. I'm not saying that they wouldn't be racist to black people in general but I've seen them treat different complexions differently.

I am a female American descendant of an African slaves, among other races. I know lots of well-groomed and educated people of similar background. Most but not all of my friends went to college; many of them have advanced degrees. They are as thoughtful and rational as many other like-minded people of diverse races.
Also among us are MDs, dentists, and the like; I myself have a Ph.D. in a STEM field. Many of us work with young people, on whom we believe we are having a positive impact. Some of us are activists.
Change doesn't come overnight, however, a lot has happened in the last century or two. (Somebody, please speak on that...)

Meeka has a very VALID POINT. I stood behind her from day one when the incident with Tami happened. I thought it was very distasteful. She should sue the HELL OUT OF TAMI because that sista is out of control and she needs to be stopped and so does Evelyn. Its so sad Shaunie would allow this sort of behavior on the show. What kind of message is being displayed here of black women.
Meeka did nothing more than Suzie does on every episode which is stir up confusion but, no one seems to be slapping her ass in the face. She is the one that keeps up more confusion than anyone. Why aren’t people all fired up over this?
