I don't believe the shade of black does matter. I took the reference of "Redbone" to be a way of "verifying" who said woman is to those who are familiar with that area.

Davison between Dexter and Linwood is one of the busiest commercial corridors in the city of Detroit. There's a full size grocery store, a hardware store, a Foot Locker, a half dozen national fast food chains, three beauty supply stores, a flower shop, and a whole lot more.
Is it beautiful? No. Is it perfectly safe? Evidently not. But an awful lot of people go about their daily lives there. Davison alone sees 40,000 cars a day, and most of those drivers don't get carjacked when they stop for gas.
That doens't mean it's perfectly safe, or that it's a wise idea to get your gas there -- particularly at that Citgo, which is considerably shadier than the well kept Mobil across the street -- but let's not act like folks living or passing through Detroit are out of their minds for purchasing basic services at one of the busiest intersections in the city.

Either way he doesn't deserve to be a crime victim and neither does anyone else. If you weren't concerned about his activities or whereabouts before he was carjacked you probably shouldn't be now. For the record I don't give a damn about Winans' church or religious affiliation. Whatever he believes in or preaches does not make him perfect or infallible.
The bigger issue is, or at least should be, the fact that yet another crime was committed in crime infested America, a country that will spend multi-millions of dollars to protect foreign nationals attending G-8 and NATO summits and can't seem to put an extra nickel towards health care, infrastructure and protection, education, etc., for its own citizens.
