As far as Charlamayne getting paid to be an ass...well, he chooses how high/low-brow his show will be. If he had chosen, he could have had a show in the vein of Steve Harvey or Rickey Smiley. He chose to go this route because he feels controversy sells; well, as he has learned, controversy also gets your ass kicked too.
