What people don't realize is how hard it is to get money from recording artists because it's hard to prove to the court that they have an established proof of income. When a person signs a recording contract, it's just like getting cash money and there are no taxes are taken out. If they don't report any income on their own to the IRS then the IRS doesn't know they have any taxable income sometimes for years at a time and when they finally find out, they owe their life in back taxes.
They have no steady income which means they can't establish credit on their own and therefore have no assets most of the time.
It costs a MINIMUM of $100,000 on up to get 1 SINGLE to get a MINIMAL amount of spins radio for promotion and you have to pay that and so much more back before you ever see a penny. This is how artists (used to) be able to sell a million records and end up with a negative balance in their bank account while the record label is steady making money off of you.
With that said, this VH1 check is probably the only proof of income the courts have been able to track down by Scrappy ever! He was probably paying her child support on his own when he had money and then stopped and because there was no proof of income meaning no wages reported, there was no way to garnish his wages (if he had any at all before this show).

You are responsible for 100% of you and 50% of your child and I'm sure you use more in your home than your child does and that is why the courts apply a percentage of a person's pay for child support. You have to pay bills with or without a child. The other person is only responsible for half of the CHILD's care.

I have a job. I pay all of my rent and bills in my house. I pay for everything for her when she is with me and he pays for everything for her when she is with him. The only things we share are her child care and extra activities outside of school. He buys clothes and stuff as she needs at his house and I do the same. They all get mixed up anyway during transit. I don't think men should help with rent payments and things like that. Get a job, live in a home that you can afford for you and your child and don't get mad at the courts if they don't make the man put you up in the same kind of house he is living in.
