EXCLUSIVE: I have learned that Mariah Carey is finalizing a deal to join Fox’s American Idol as a new judge. I hear Carey would command a salary of more than $17 million for next season, which would set a new record for talent on a reality series, eclipsing the paycheck of Idol‘s Jennifer Lopez.

Nick needs to stay in his own lane. Mariah is aging and still needs to be relevant as much as possible. She was in this game while he was in High School. I am just curious how this is going to affect his role in America's Got Talent and her on Idol? Not that Nick's show is any comparison. GO Mi-mi and make that money honey!

She WRITES, PRODUCES and SINGS her songs and has from the very start-which is why she will always be paid like Anita Baker and Sade (which Mariah tried to get Whitney to do because that's how they screw artists over).

This is 2012 and Mariah dumped the ish out of her controlling husband in 1995 and he used all of his industry influence to try to blackball her. His long arm was all through the Grammy's so despite platinum album after album she did not get the amount of Grammy's she should have. She has more number ones then any female solo artist period, ever. She does write her own songs, on scrap papers and napkins when ever inspiration hits. No good will come to those who speak ill of the Queen. Show her some respect.

Good for Mariah but people kill me trying to slam Jennifer Lopez. She is not a strong vocalist but she is able to technically hit notes which means she can sing she just does not have a strong voice but she is an artist in every since because she is an excellent performer when she puts the entire package together she is a triple threat can sing, dance, and act. To me Mariah Carey,Whitney Houston, Celine Dion,& Christina Aguilera are the greatest vocalist of the past 20 yrs but that does not mean we have to bash singers who are not as talented.

PREACH!!! Her 1st 3 albums sound as good TODAY as they did 15-20 years ago. How many of today's artists can you HONESTLY say that, 20 years from now, their songs will sound *timeless* as opposed to dated? I listen to my 80s and 90s music because the electro-crap robbing the airwaves doesn't speak to my soul.

AI has long become stale.
American Idol has finally got it right. A female judge who has talent. She can sing, produce and writes her own music. Her first three CD's are classics and timeless.
This show isn't about the contestants anymore, it's all about the judges...I like Mariah, should be an interesting watch, but AI is approaching it's expiration date, it's become VERY predictable!!!
