Dream Hampton caused a firestorm on Twitter the other night after offhandedly revealing that Nas used ghostwriters on his Untitled [Nigger] album...
It all started with a conversation about rappers and their social responsibility. At one point someone asked Dream, who co-wrote Jay Z's 'Decoded', why hadn't Jay released a socially conscious album.
As you can imagine Dream's Twitter mentions were left in a shambles with even Jay Electronica and Stic Man chiming in to deny her claims.
Stic addressed the situation on his Facebook page,
“As far as the rumors about myself and jay electronika ghost writing for Nas, let me say this. Nas is one of the if not the most prolific original lyricist to EVER do it. My contributions to his album was a collaboration and an honor and under his direction of what he wanted to convey and say. Haters cant discredit that man's genuis. Nas is the Don.”This time Dream refused to be run off Twitter and stood her ground.

Never cared much for Dream Hampton anyway. She's a mediocre writer at best who was able to advance by mostly being cute and hanging out with the rappers. I remember her from waaayyy back in the Vibe magazine days. Her looks got her in the door(also mediocre); and her connections to the rappers have kept her there, not any profound writing at all.

But, did Nas take credit for someone else's work as his own? That's a serious accusation.
And why did she go through that part about all the people she knows and all the deals she was involved in? Providing evidence for her credibility?

Sorry to but your bubble, every rapper uses a ghostwriter. They're female and male writers in the industry. It doesn't make a rapper any less or any more of an artist. The ghostwriter signs an contract to stay silent, or cover the facts.

Giving suggestions or ideas does not mean you wrote the song. For example, I do believe Fiddy came up with Game's hooks off of The Documentary, but Curtis DEFINITELY didn't write any of his songs. With that being said, it's possible that Stic presented an idea to Nas & Nas took it from there.

I think Dream went there (brought NAS' name up) out of pure despartation. She wanted to defend Z's nonsense but couldn't logically do it & she was backed into a corner SO.....she tries to shift the focus on his past Nemesis.
