Last time I checked, both he and Beyonce donate regularly to Red Cross as well as local charities such as Spring Hill Campaign for Adolescent and University Student Empowerment (CAUSE) and PlayPumps International....although some have speculated that his donation funds have been small in comparision to his yearly earnings.
Last time I checked Beyonce had a lot of charity donations and events under her belt, the list too long to name but notibly the Survivors Foundation and Music World Cares Christmas Carnival that enabled over 300 low-income households to enjoy a fun-filled day of food, entertainment, a visit from Santa Claus and free toys from the toy giveaway. The singer also held a series of food drives before her concerts in 2006 to collect the food that was so desperately needed by victims. And other charities like World Children's Day. Not to forget her work with Michelle Obama for childhood obesity and most recently her launch of World Humantarian Day Charity Campagn.
Of course they could always do more...of course we can ALL do more. After all...what have you done lately? You don't need money to make a difference.
I miss Belafonte and Ali. Their intelligence and courage transcended what they were famous for, made the world pay attention to civil rights in America and ultimately made them icons.

I'm must say a lot of people made some interesting points. I'm personally impressed that the name-calling and the back-n-forth was kept to a minimum.
I can see both sides of this situation. At the end of the day it's Bouncy's and Jay-Z's money and life and it's their decision to do whatever they please. They don't owe us anything and vice versa. We have to be our own heroes and do for ourselves and not wait on a celebrity or politician or athlete to give back. We have to put in our time, money and effort to build our community.
However, it would seem like some of the richest (and most boastful) celebrities would be generous enough to give back. Not necessarily monetary-wise, but with time and effort to show that they are human too and would like to see the progression of humans for the better, even though no one close to them will live like the rest of society.

I will add, that before we were held in HIGH ESTEEM because of Motown (which I learned, many peoples first contact with Black America was throgh Motown)
And they admired us, looked up to us for our beautiful music, our poise and YES, Beyonce has been a part of the line of artists that have DESTROYED that and that pisses me off but hopefully the winds of change will keep blowing and we will regain ourselves.

Where are the black leaders to speak up on black issues? Why are they not speaking up on gangs, pimping, prostitution, black on black crime, deadbeat fathers, unemployment in black America? They only speak up when it comes to racism from whites. All the outrage over Treyvon, but not an ounce of outrage when our kids kill each other DAILY, because of a different color t-shirt. That's their job, not some rapper's or singer's job.
