Jay-Z’s relationship with his personal chef has ended on a sour note. The hip-hop star’s famed Manhattan 40/40 Club yesterday served up a $1.5 million federal lawsuit against Mike Shand, who was tapped to run the nightspot’s kitchen after cooking on tour for both Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé. But court papers charge that Shand “failed to perform on significant aspects” of a deal to beef up the menu for the luxury sports bar’s $10 million reopening earlier this year. As a result, Jay-Z and partner Juan Perez were unable to deliver promised offerings, “costing the club lost profits, loss of good will [and] alienation of clientele,” the suit says. The Manhattan court filing adds, “The club has not been able to adequately replace the items and services defendant was paid to provide.”

Another question: Why did it take $10 million dollars to fix up this joint? That seem like a lot of money for a renovation.

How can a rapper (private citizen) served a Federal (government) against another private citizen.
Civil lawsuits are usually filed in federal court because of jurisdictional issues. Also no one files a $1.5 million lawsuit in state/county courts.

The hospital was not shut down. A couple of rooms on their floor were shut down. Other celebs do the same shit. Angelina shut down 2 entire floors in France when she had twins.

If shady Mathew Knowles had still been in charge of Beyonce's career, her phoney baby bump would not have been allowed to bend,fold,collaspe. At the very least if it had, footage of the event would not have been allowed to be viewed no matter that it was filmed in Austrailia at a tv studio not owned by him or her. He would have stipulated in the contract for her appearance that she must not EVER be shown in a light that makes her look bad or foolish or deceitful!

Where is Blu? Let’s stay focus on the real issue, which is that NO one has ever seen this child/doll move! It's not that hard to get a new chef. Unless the lawsuit is to recoup a contracted salary this is a silly suit.
When you hire someone to work in your business, you're taking a risk. If an employee doesn't perform the way you hoped, you train them or you fire them, not sue them. You hired them. You made a poor choice.
If Jay was smart he would've had him present a menu proposal to review before/as soon as he was hired.
I would've looked over it and sampled everything on there to make sure that shyt was on point.
Jay needs to stop just throwing money at shyt and expecting it to succeed by itself.
The 40/40 club was closed down by the health department last year; after extensive renovations. What does that tell ya?!! Jay Z is an A** with money, that's all. If you wanted this club to succeed, Jay, you needed to apply some personal responsibility. He's a greedy 1%, nough said.
