BECOMING an “American Idol” judge may be a boon for MARAH CAREY’’s career, but it’s a bust for her marriage!
Her hubby, Nick Cannon, who hosts “Idol” rival “America’s Got Talent,” is furious that the 43-year-old Grammy winner ignored his wishes and decided to star on a direct competitor of his show, say sources.
And while he’s publicly said “she’s gonna be amazing on ‘Idol,’” an insider said that “privately, Nick’s gritting his teeth and dead-set against her taking the job.”
When Mariah was deep in delicate negotiations with “Idol” brass, theinsider says Nick tried to “throw water on the negotiations” by telling a reporter: “I don’t know if they can afford Mariah Carey...If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that!” Explained the insider: “Nick was tossing around outrageous sal¬ary figures in hopes of pricing Mariah out of the market.
“Right until the eleventh hour, he was begging her to pass on the offer.
"He was dangling incentives – diamond jewelry, a luxurious spa vacation, even promising to pay her a one-time ‘gift’ of $15 million for saying no.
“Nick wants her to be a stay-at-home mom to their twins, at least until they turn 5. He was even hoping to have another baby, but Mariah has effectively scorched that dream.”

American Idol was the best thing that happened to fading Jlo career wise. She went from 1 to 20 in 2 weeks receiving many endorsements, a boost in record sales, videos and new music here and there, clothing line, reality show, magazine covers..... It puzzled me as to why they would even allow her to ask for a raise how she benefited from the show but that's another story....
I said that to say imagine what it would do for Mariah ? If she comes with the right music and the right sound using that platform she can snatch every female artist out right now wig !Mariah made the right decision !
If this story is true I can understand Nick's frustration. Evreyone knows she has the majority of the money but that doesn't mean she runs shit. They are both "rich" so money isn't the factor. It's embarrassing for you wife to go against you and work against you. I do believe that Nick should have been silent regarding it though (so he wouldn't look stupid) until he and her made a decision TOGETHER. Marriage is about comprimise and it's obviously not their strong point.

Nick has the perfect job to see what happens to kids who's rich parents who does everything else in the world but raise them and how it affects them in the long run.
I really love me so Mariah Carey, but I can't help but to admire Nick for at least wanting to give it a try at having a close family unit. There are still some things more important than money.

I love Mimi she is one of my favorites but the problem for Mariah is she did her career in reverse. I would find it amazing if she goes much past GOLD with the record. I will support her but her main fan-base has gotten much older and are now more likely into the music she put out in the early 90's vs. the teen booper stuff currently being pushed. I think American Idol is a good payday for her perhaps the last time she has the chance to see dough like that. Mariah unfortunately has never been a big draw for concerts like Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Celine, or Sade but she has been very successful at selling records but I feel her voice is not as capable as it use to be plus lets face it she is 43! I don't think Nick was against that because the reality is I don't think they are looking for multi-platinum sales and again Mariah has never done well touring. She and Nick better take that money and run and realize it is time to hold on to that money.
