Chris Lighty worked with Mariah Carey, LL Cool J, Nas, Fantasia, Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule, Diggy Simmons and many others.
Various news outlets are reporting Lighty died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was 44 years old.

That is the thing with depression: it is a clinical illness that can be deadly if gone untreated. Period. It doesn't matter to whom it affects. When people seem "well" it's a front; a coping mechanism maybe. You never know what people might be dealing with and for reasons unknown. Everyone deals with stress differently! Not saying suicide is the correct way to deal with depression but not everyone can handle stress in a healthy way.
Yes, they are all downlow in the industry... its a requirement to show you are down. If you dont participate you dont get roles, and if your doing the same thing then you're not telling on anyone else. The industry is sick and some men only get contracts when they have pleased the Head (no pun). why do you think less talented people are in industry, there is a world full of better singers, actors, dancers, rappers....
I don't know why some people find it hard to believe that a black man could suffer from depression. It simply goes unchecked in our communities. We run to the church, prayer circles, food, shopping, drugs, alcohol - any place but the therapist.

There are rumors that he owed 5 Mill to the IRS. In my job I have to sit with people who are at financial failure and my job is sometimes to get them to pay my company money that they owe. I get people crying in my office and acting like their life is over. I tell them that at this point it's only money. There are not too many things that are worth you killing yourself over and money isn't one of them. I tell them pay the bill when you can but your first responsibility is food and a roof over your head.

Violator Management CEO Chris Lighty recently shared with the New York Post that he is one of the victims of former businessman Bernie Madoff's investor fraud scandal.
Although Lighty would not share how much he lost in the scam, it is said that as a result of the fraud, clients of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC have lost in total around $50 billion dollars.
"Nothing to talk about. It's not life-threatening," Lighty told the Post. "Not worth the ink you would waste." Up until now, rumors stated it was 50 Cent, one of Lighty's clients, who had lost millions in the fraud.
For years, Lighty has managed artists such as 50 Cent, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Diddy, and more. Most recently, Lighty created Brand Asset Group, a branding company that aims to increase revenue through proper and aggressive branding of artists.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in the southern district of New York, Madoff allegedly admits to defrauding clients for up to $50 billion in an intricate investment scheme committed over a number of years.
Other well known clients of Madoff's who claim to have been affected by the scam include Kevin Bacon, Steven Spielberg, and Zsa Zsa Gabor. Wells Fargo and Co. claims they wrote off $294 million, because Madoff's alleged scheme defrauded their customers and left them unable to pay loans.

Being a music label executive has nothing to do with being talented or smart but has everything to do with who you know and what you are willing to do to obtain that executive position you so desperately desire.
The music industry is revolved around CONTROL, CONTRACT AND DEATH which all leads to major profits for the governors of that industry which is a group of individuals that know nothing or care nothing about anybody's welfare but THEMSELVES.

As a hip hop journalist, I have conducted interviews in the most unsavory places around the most amoral people. They are always offering me opportunities to make more money, cover an event, write for them..all the while trying to pass me drugs or dyck. And they have convinced themselves that there is nothing after life but death and nothing more.
