For example, if I told you that it was impossible to synthesize a radioactive isotope, would you believe me, or would you believe a college physics professor who told you that it was possible? Occultism isn't a very respected field, and as such, everything they say is a little suspect. So what part don't I understand? The part about occultists who REALLY aren't respected enough to matter.
