As I've been at other blogs and read other takes on the issue there have been discussions about her being able to do a DNA test. She can't really do that because she would need a male member from her fathers line to get a conclusive test done. Even if they break her DNA down it still won't tell much of anything because most African-Americans are of mixed race from the past. So it's possible for a black person to take one of those tests and be found to be 10 to 50% white even though both of their parents were black. Condi Rice and Tom Joyner were both found to be 50% white even though both of their parents were black.
A part of being black is based on your reality and Keyshias only reality has been the black community. Why would she take issue with a black group wanting to uplift black women when she's lent her name to BET projects that have made black women look bad?

@4:03 PM I always cringe when I hear black folks say "good hair." I think it's a very lame expression to use when describing hair. It sounds very dumb. The opposite of good is bad; therefore, a person that doesn't have "good hair" (straight, curly, soft) has "bad hair" (kinky, nappy)? Wrong. Nappy hair isn't bad hair. It's just a texture. Bad hair is ungroomed hair, dirty hair or dandruffy hair. I'm a black woman with kinky hair. Never wore weave, never had a perm or a relaxer. During my teens and young woman years I've always had thick, course, long black hair. The brothas loved it and I loved it (and I still get compliments). All three of my sisters had thick long hair, too. I wouldn't give up anything on my body for straight curly hair. My answer to that statement is a resounding NO. I'm confident and happy with the hair and ethnicity God gave me.

As I've been at other blogs and read other takes on the issue there have been discussions about her being able to do a DNA test. She can't really do that because she would need a male member from her fathers line to get a conclusive test done. Even if they break her DNA down it still won't tell much of anything because most African-Americans are of mixed race from the past. So it's possible for a black person to take one of those tests and be found to be 10 to 50% white even though both of their parents were black. Condi Rice and Tom Joyner were both found to be 50% white even though both of their parents were black.
A part of being black is based on your reality and Keyshias only reality has been the black community. Why would she take issue with a black group wanting to uplift black women when she's lent her name to BET projects that have made black women look bad?

Well let's dissect this question for a minute...
She may very well be angry at the fact that bi-racial are constantly pigeon holed into believing that they are black when they ARE NOT BLACK. Black Americans always use that slavery BS argument that has already been exposed and to put to rest. Not every black person is descendant from a slave. FACT. Not every mixed person is 'fair skin' FACT. There are full blown Africans who are fair skin FACT.
Although I am not 'mixed' I do understand the plight of the bi-racial individual. How is that you may ask? well it is no different then the plight of the dual nationality of a person. Well what is the dual nationality of a person? If I am an African born in France then I am French speaking national of African descent so I am BOTH African and French and can choose to identify with one or the other OR BOTH. But I cannot deny one and claim the other.
Bi-racial people should not deny one side and keep claim the other. They should embrace both sides but if they feel more comfortable with one side and choose to become that then so be it.
The beauty of it all is that you have the 'best of both worlds'. As the saying goes 2 is always better then 1. The opposite of good is bad; therefore, a person that doesn't have "good hair" (straight, curly, soft) has "bad hair" (kinky, nappy)? Wrong. Nappy hair isn't bad hair. It's just a texture. Bad hair is ungroomed hair, dirty hair or dandruffy hair.
I'm a black woman with kinky hair. Never wore weave, never had a perm or a relaxer. During my teens and young woman years I've always had thick, course, long black hair. The brothas loved it and I loved it (and I still get compliments). All three of my sisters had thick long hair, too.
I wouldn't give up anything on my body for straight curly hair. My answer to that statement is a resounding NO. I'm confident and happy with the hair and ethnicity God gave me.
