The spokeswoman said that it was standard procedure to record a backing track and that Beyoncé decided at the last minute to use it rather than risk singing live.
However, in a detailed blog post, ProductionAdvice.co.uk have defended Beyonce to an extent and stated that she is clearly singing live at the inauguration, even if a backing track is also audible. The sound experts on the site state that there are three signs Beyonce is singing live, including that "when she starts singing, her voice is hard to hear – the microphone gain is too low. The sound-man quickly corrects this – but if we were listening to a recording this wouldn’t happen".
The Production Advice post also claims that signs of something known as "proximity effect" are clear to be heard and that when Beyonce smiles at one point in the performance her voice changes with the shape of her mouth.

We aren’t easily surprised, but this one definitely shocked us.
These two celebrity couples have been known to hang out together. The wives are especially close friends.
The first wife is a beautiful, award-winning Actress who has also done some singing on TV and in films. The second wife is an beautiful, award-winning Singer who has also done some acting on TV and in films. Both women’s husbands are also famous and very successful in the entertainment industry.
Well, two of these people are even closer than we thought. It turns out that the Actress has hooked up several times with the Singer’s husband in the past few years.
This surprised us for several reasons. First, because the two women are practically best friends, and their friendship would end if the Singer ever found out. Second, because all of these people travel and are photographed so much that it would take some crazy planning to have an affair without anybody noticing. And third, because the Actress had a history of dating very attractive guys when she was a single lady… and the Singer’s husband doesn’t exactly fall into that category.
Where is Blue? Just asking.

I understand lip syncing while doing upbeat numbers in concert. But this was a slow number which everyone knows by heart, so how hard could it have been?
I watched a YouTube video of her on the Today show singing If I Were. A Boy. She was jumping around the stage like crazy and it was apparently cold outside, and she sounded perfect. I assume it was a track. But my point is, the inauguration is a really big deal and she should have made the effort. Bey CAN sing, so why fake?

Seems like BeyNilli has been lip singing for most of her career when she really sounds like fingers being scraped across a chalk board. Of course you will sound good if you use a back track that has been modified in the studio. She probably does the same thing at her concerts. Glad I never wasted my money. No wonder she thinks she can act with no training because she’s been fooling her stains for years. An ICON sounds like an ICON without studio mastering no matter the weather. It was a bad look being the first artist to lip sing at an inauguration. She is an awesome performer, but vocally not so much. Truth always comes to the light.
