@12:06 PM That's not a fair question to ask a parent, but in this case (celebrity), it's a good one.
Cissy always struck me as a controlling parent and the type who didn't know when to let go and when to but out.

I would ask Cissy, why didn't you teach your daughter to have better taste in men, or atleast be around a certain level of men. What was wrong with whitney that she was friends with Lenny Kravitz (sexy), she had Michael Jackson flying her on a helicopter and had a horse drawm buggie take her to his main house , then she had Kevin Costner an A list actor/director/producer held up production for a year, he has acted sprung for the last 2 decades over her, had an international billionaire psycho Osama bin laden wanting to murder and buy her house, marry her(he was a pyscho didn't want to go there, but still) had prince edward of England enamored with her. How can she have all these rich and powerful men wanting to have her, but she falls for Bobby Brown, and hanging with Ray-J whatever that was. I just don't get it, cuz your average hoodrat off the block, would have quickly upgraded and stayed there. I love whitney for the bodyguard and her music, but it just seems like when it came down to being a Boss, she wasn't it. Look at Janet, my girl is about to be married to a Billionaire, doing big things. People talk about joe and katherine but atleast they taught their kids strive for more where you can. I can't even give Whitney her props, because she was the only icon hanging with men she had no business, and then wanted people to respect that. puhleeze. i can't. Was she lazy, because men with power, would require women to stay fabo, or was she just not meant for the fab life.

@3:44 PM 3:10 here. Great post and I agree with you on the man department. All my White male associates thought she was beautiful. They were mad as ***** when she died and the first thing out of their mouth was 'Why did she marry Bobby Brown.?" No sistah in her right mind with Whitney's looks and clout would have settled for BB. Something was very very very wrong with that picture. Yeah, Oprah if you want your viewers to get insight, you need to get up close and very personal with Cissy. Ala Wendy Williams type questions.

3:44, Money means nothing and shame on you for trying to measure merit with it.

Whitney Houston was a beautiful and talented woman. Did she know this though? That's the question. We can sit here and speculate ALL day as to why she did or didn't hook up with this or that man, but those choices, reasons and answers remain with her. Peace Whitney.

i'm not measuring a person's merit based on money. i'm saying that whitney herself said to oprah that something happens to a man when he's in the woman's shadows, and so she had to dim her light to make him feel better. i don't agree that she should have been with bobby or ray j, because of her posistion in the industry. She lowered herself to be with these men, and what did she get out of the deal, she spent the last 18 years of her life being a joke in the industry and the public. and that's what's sad. You don't go from being the baddest female in entertainment industry to a laughing stock, and think people will respect that. she continued to have problems with the choice of men, when she could have dealt with powerful men who worshipped the ground she walked on, she could have been herself, wouldn't have to dim her light because he would have had his own, and would have been happy and healthy. let's be real, marriage based on love is a new western idea, because in biblical times, and in other countries marriages were arranged based on financial benefits.

shut up bitch. Prolly can't get a man your damnself worrying about what some dead woman did in her life. At least she lived her life to the fullest.

whatever, i'm not going to continue this argument with you or anyone. i stand by my opinion. whitney was a queen who could ofhad any man with money and power who could have loved her like no other, and would have been the one that gave her everything. whitney spent the last years of her life being mocked and ridiculed because she chose to live a life in the shadows, for men who weren't in her league financially or fame. how can anyone lived their lives to the fullest, when you have to dim your light for someone else, and you don't realize that you are better than that. being bobby brown was a mess, and there is no way a woman that had achieved that much should have been in that situation.i'm wrong but her own mama told her she wasn't raised like that and tried to get her away from that situation, her own father tried to hook her up with mc hammer. della reese told a black conservative radio host that many felt she married bobby brown so black folks could relate to her. i love whitney but i stand by the fac that she deserve to be with a Boss, i won't respect her choices. people are defending whitney now, but where was the passion and heart when she was alive, when she was drugged out of her mind on being bobby brown , or when hollywood and the media was laughing at her for being on drugs, or when black folks were hating on her calling her whitey houston. people want to act like oh whitney is so great, but where was the love when she was alive. i would say she deserved to be around certain men if shei was alive. and yes i do have a friend, and guess what he makes more than me with his own. trust, i'm not that chick to say, i can do for a man. puhleeze.

you can say what she deserved better, yet you forget it was her choice. All the men she had in her life she chased. They didn't seek her out. Whitney liked what she liked and what she liked was bad boys. Nobody made her do what she didn't want to do. Whitney was a boss making moves while getting high. You mad her life aint how you planned it. Everything whitney said aint the gospel. Who gives a damn if Cissy say how she was raised. Cissy aint even raise her kids. All of them on drugs. John aint no good man either. He was a jobless bum all Whitney's life. He only got a job working for Whitney when she famous. Before then Whitney had to sing in nightclubs and model to put food in the house. How you try an place them people on a pedestal when they all a bunch of junkies. Only difference is they knew how to clean shit up in public. John trying to get MC Hammer to marry Whtiney all while he was fucking her maid who was only a year older than Whitney while still married to Cissy. How can two people walk to together unless they agree? Whitney agreed with her partners so live your own life.

@11:38 PM Wow, I didn't know Whitney chased all the men she dated and eventually married one of them. I wonder why she went after unattractive guys?
