White House Removes Anti-Beyonce Petition

On the White House website there is a page called We The People where American citizens can start petitions to be considered by the Obama Administration.

Recently a petition was started to have Beyonce removed from the 2013 Inauguration line-up.

Which one of you guys did it...?

Actually the petition was started by a health advocate who feels Beyonce's multimillion dollar deal with Pepsi is in direct contrast with the First Lady's fight against childhood obesity and sends the wrong message.

No worries for Beyonce though, because while a petition calling for a boycott of the 2013 Grammy Awards because abstract rapper Lil B did not receive any nominations is still accepting signatures [click here if you want to sign it], the one asking for Beyonce to be dropped from the Inauguration line up has been quietly removed.

A White House spokesperson tells The Politico the petition was taken down because,
The Inauguration is “not something the White House actually has jurisdiction over.” (The Inauguration is run by the Presidential Inaugural Committee.)
“Since the Presidential Inaugural Committee is a whole separate entity that handles the Inauguration … the White House doesn’t control who is singing at the inaugural ceremony.”
