Like most celebs, and as others above have noted, Beyonce's ALWAYS been regular, she just had the benefit of a bunch of smoke and mirrors and inflated sales figures and paid accolades to fool the public into believing she was greater and more commercially successful than she really is.
This whole "regular" thing makes me think that she or her camp realized that her self-proclaimed "king" title doesn't have the numbers to back it up, so now she wants to be "Mrs. Carter" instead of "King B" as damage control.
