CBS Passes on Beverly Hills Cop

Last month there were rumors Eddie Murphy was sabotaging the CBS production of Beverly Hills Cop by demanding the series focus on his Axel Foley character instead of his son's character played by Brandon T. Jackson [click here his you missed that].

Welp, CBS just backed out...

According to reports CBS passed on the project and now Sony Paramount are scrambling to shop the pilot to other networks, but for now the series is DOA.

Sad if true. Completion between black actors are so strong, they pull just about anything to make sure another doesn't shine. Steve Harvey pulled a similar stunt to Bernie Mac when he was auditioning for the Ocean's movies.

Well this should be a blow to Eddie Murphy's ego. I heard somewhere he said that he was bigger than MJ! Michael Jackson?! Really Eddie? And you can't even get a basic TV series picked up?

Queen Eddie is somewhere having a bitch fit about this!

There are better channels than CBS, please. Fox would be better in the middle of the cartoons on Sunday.

yeah so much so, Puss in the friggin Boots got a spin off in a franchise, when donkey a$$ was such a popular character, he didnt get one. People would rather listen to Antonio's non-speaking english voice over than Ed's yellin character.

Justin and Cameron were more memorable in their characters among other favorites and they continue to expand their careers...where's Eddie One Note with his diva a$$?

You said all that to say what? I was speaking in the monetary sense...the amount of money he made from the Shrek movies. No essay you write will undo the fact that he banked much dollars from that movie. Sorry you cant take a good point being made.

Look at how gay Eddie looks in that photo. Like wow! It was always there folks, a lot of us were just too young to see it or even know what it was. Nobody cares, it's just funny how flamboyant Eddie really was with it back then.

@3:06

Right! Wouldn't be Shrek w/out Donkey!!! Regardless of trannies, ego, etc.... he's still talented as hell!!

@3:23
The gayest that Eddie has ever looked was in "Distiguished Gentlemen"
You can tell the eyeliner was obvious .

357, maybe so, but this is a damn close second, lol

I dont really care for Brandon Jackson or should I say he hasn't earned my respect as an actor who can carry a show.

Eddie Murphy still has some power. I'm sure part of cancelling the show had to do with Eddie supporting his friend who used the word 'fag' the year Eddie was gonna host the Oscars. No career move in Hollywood goes un-punished. Eddie knows this. Hell, I'm not in Hollywood and even I know this. He has to pay the piper for that move.

He's not blackballed, but there will have to be a meeting amongst Godfathers (studio heads) to give Eddie some of his power back.

------------------------------------------------AND... I was not talking in a monetary sense. I was strictly talking Eddie's Franchise; movies that he starred in as subject at hand as Beverly Hills Cop or hits as 48 Hours. What happened to the franchise of Coming to America and Trading Places, which are block busters that made him that were supposed to be sequels? Any voice actor can gain notoriety in animation film as you'd mentioned as Shrek and make money, but again you've missed my point.
Now to get the chance to bring an Eddie franchise back, he is too busy being a diva to the point no production company will touch; the ideas of his franchise have to be shopped.

It's just a matter of opinions my dear, please don't make it anything else but that by snide remarks. Whether I'd decided to write an essay or not, you addressed me.

You never know what's at work behind the scenes in hollywood. Them white folks weren't happy with Eddie when he walked out on the Oscars after he didn't win Best Supporting Actor..

@9:59 I think you meant 'and' lol
