Lil Wayne Stomps on the American Flag

There's a bit of a controversy brewing after Lil Wayne was filmed stomping on an American Flag...

Behind the scenes footage from the set of Weezy's new single "God Bless Amerika" surfaced online showing Lil Wayne repeatedly stepping on an American flag.

Will Weezy make it out of this one unscathed?

Well, this is a hard one...To care or not to care that is the question???? I am not surprised...this is typical for him...and besides he's doing it for the shock factor and to keep people talking about him...and to me...there is none and nothing new to talk about!!! Why should I feel outrage when he steps on the flag and America shits on the black&brown man on the daily? Lets see if we can get mad about THAT!!![raises fist in the air]

1. Don't put it near light, especially sunlight, it can kill them.

2. Don't let it get wet with water nor give it any water to drink nor bathe it.

3. No matter how much it cries or begs, NEVER feed it after midnight.

That home in the back is called a Craftsman style home (watch a ton of HGTV). In a White neighborhood that home would be worth $400,000. In a black neighborhood it'd be worth $35,000. The difference is that we just don't care and take pride in our surroundings

Lol@bee gee ...a gremlin circa 1985... Hahaha

On the video the flag falls out of the shot to reveal the children behind it and you wont see him walking on it you dummies. Its basic cinematography.

Fox News will end his career in a month. He will also apologized but it will not do any good. Black man stopping on the flag....fox news wet dream, Obama will be blame for this.

There was a time when musicians would be known for their music and not their antics. Any news they made would be rare because they had a solid PR team working their career. I miss those days.

Whether I care or not, its just straight up disrespectful especially with a Black president in office-- & you know they're gonna have to ask President Obama what he thinks of this although he doesn't have sh!# to do with it.. Smh he's such a selfish dummy

Anonymous said...

did yall even watch the video? he's not even stomping on the flag. the flag was lowered to show the kids in the background and it fell on the ground where he was "performing."

Bee Gee said...

Just curious. What does the American flag mean to you, ma people? I'm interested.

Anonymous said...

Thank you 3:17pm. I looked at the pic and then started reading the comments and forming an opinion. I didn't even look at the video until I read your post. He wasn't stomping on it and may not even know it was under his feet. Hilarious...good point taken. We are so easy.

@2:23 Come to Bowie, MD in PG County, dear. The average black home is $300,000. So sorry your parent's couldn't make it out of the ghetto, but that's not the case for everyone.

@3:22pm It means more than any other flag in the world. People have fought & died to keep the USA remotely free. People have died for our right to burn/stomp the flag.

That said, the USA ain't what it once was nor could've been.

To me it represents 237 years of deception, degradation, denigration, oppression, lies, imperial destruction, and an outright social/political/religious cancer upon the world.

This title is really misleading! Looking at the video he did not stomp on the flag as the title wanted to cause controversy vbefore viewing the video!

Anonymous said...

@Bee Gee.... I won't get into what it means to me but I know it's not supposed to be desecrated.

Anonymous said...

LOL@3:53pm That was kinda my thinking. I stopped plesging to that flag a long long time before I left public school.

Thanks @ 4:21pm

@ BeeGee personally I prefer the Rainbow gay flag!

Obama made it a reason to stomp on the american flag. We do not live in a republic or a demorcratic country we live in a dictatorship country. Just as long people have their smart phone, ipod, and sports.

Anonymous said...

@3:50, Your missing the point. Our older neighborhoods would be nice but they don't stay that way. Urban decay. Why is that? Before you blame the White man, how hard is it to get a lawn mower or paint?

Anonymous said...

All these folks hatin' on America I don't see anyone trying to go live in a poor nation

Anonymous said...

this is one in a long line of flags this nation has had. the first one was stitched together, the same way this country was stitched together.

my favorite part of the flag is the 13 stripes, because they represent the 13 colonies that decided they'd had enough of british rule and declared and fought for their independence.

there is a message in the history of the 13 stripes for any group of people who feels they'd like to declare their independence from an oppressor.

i find wayne's act highly offensive, not because he's stepping on the flag, but because he does so with no legitimate objective, purposeful criticism, or message of hope and empowerment to the people who gather around to watch his buffoonery.

Anonymous said...

@Bee Gee It doesn't matter what that flag means to people. All you need to know is that those white folks don't play when it comes to that flag. lol! Especially those rednecks. They'll skin your ass alive.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter if stepped, walked, slid or stomped the flag we all pleged our allegiance to.the flag is never to touch the ground

@ BeeGee
It means allot to me. this country isn't perfect, far from it as a matter of fact, but I wouldn't live anywhere else but here.
what I find funny is some of these people who love to talk msack about the flag or the country on these blogs, can't see the beauty of what they are doing. let them try and talk that ish in other countries, see if you won'tt have some MF'ers knocking on your door.
If I go to a restaurant and don't like the menu, I leave!!!
some of y'all need to do the same here in the good ol' USA!!!!

Anonymous said...

^^^I co-sign! Ungrateful motherfuckers wouldn't even be alive if it wasn't for the American way of life!
Anyone who wants to stomp on a nation's flag should go over to the Middle East and see what happens to their sorry asses!
If you hate America, why the fuck don't you leave??!!

Delited said...

@ Bee Gee:

It means nothing to me. A farce comes to mind, actually. Whites still might view it as patriotic, "land of the brave, home of the free." To immigrants (some anyway), I suppose it means freedom to fuck, marry, praise and work who, what and where ever they want. But to me, black me, it represents nothing. Your thoughts?

BTW, what it do, boo?

Lol @ 4:25pm

Say word @ 4:49pm

@ 5:01pm - I hear you but being able to voice our opinion, even about the flag and its symbolism, is one of the very rights the flag is supposed to represent. Honestly, I think people like to treat the conditions of their patriotism like they do their religion: They pick over it like a salad.

@5:02pm - I think most Americans have a love for this country, but feel like that flag represents as much bad as it does good. Why can't people complain about the country they live in without it being suggested that they move to another country? I'ont get that at all.

@Delited - I'm good fam, thanks for asking. I'd be lying if I said I don't have feelings of patriotism in certain instances, when I see the flag. Usually that's associated with the olympics, my time in the military, or looking back in history at the people that died because they viewed the flag as a symbolism of harmony amongst people, racial equality, or just being part of a land where the simple things in life seemed achievable without fear of interference from the powers that be. I don't see it that way so much anymore. To me the flag now represents an Ace of Spades, if you will. It's a card that these fuckin politicians play on the people whenever they want to mask their true agenda. Whether it's starting war, seizing territories, stealing money from the citizens, securing oil interests abroad, manipulating foreign governmental structures, whatever the agenda may be, they fly that flag in our faces like it's supposed to be all good because they claim to do it all in the name of preserving national security, world peace, the American dream, etc.. Part of me sees the flag as a symbol of a government that has committed treason of the worst kind against the very people who elected it and trusted in it. While I still feel a good measure of patriotism in striking a great conversation with a stranger of any color while out at Lowes or Home Depot, that flag just doesn't do much for me anymore. While we may not live in 3rd world conditions, to assume that no American has the right to complain just isn't something that I can co-sign on. Anyone that is supposedly protected by that flag and all it represents, has the inherent right to call bullshit when he or she smells it. And I smell a ton of it lately regardless of how many Obama "air fresheners" they hung up. A whole lot stinks in this country right now and I hurt for myself and for my neighbors..

I am fucking impressed! This topic on Weezy actually turned in to a conversation among members on the board! A bit meaningful. I have been on this board since day one and this I have never seen happen!

Good Job Everyone! (tears in my eyes)

Delited said...

@ Bee Gee:

Well said, Mr. I agree, totally. In sum, the flag will soon mean nothing to you as well.

Do you regret your time in the military? I'm sure you entered on premises proven to be untrue/meaningless in the long haul, eh?

Anonymous said...

I served in the military and I dont regret anything. I served on the premises to go to college, I am doing so. Why dont some of you look at it from a different perspective. Why does patriotism have to mean the blind following of the American federal government and its politicians? Why cant patriotism and the flag represent what America is SUPPOSED TO STAND FOR! Believe me, I call bullshit when i see it even if it is on us. However, the American flag isnt just representing the oppressive nature it has earned. It is also representing the people in this country who do the right thing and actually believe in personal freedom. I hate racism, I hate to see this whole thing spiral into something a primative at that. Black, white, or brown the flag means something different to everyone. Just remember some of your family memebers I am sure have bled for that flag on foreign lands right or wrong. They deserve better.

@4:58 LOL! That pretty much sums it ALL up.

It is also representing the people in this country who do the right thing and actually believe in personal freedom. 6:49
__

i agree! it is a mistake to condemn the symbol just because some people misuse it. condemn the people, not the flag and what it stands for.

Bee Gee said...

Nice post @ 6:49pm - What I meant by my post is that I no longer look to the flag as a symbol of what's good about our country, I look for and find that in the people I love and the good people I encounter. They represent that because you can hear it in their voice and feel it in their friendship.

@5:45pm - Honestly, I contemplated moving to the U.K. when my wife passed. If I would live anywhere else, it would be the U.K. That being said, I've never been to Canada or the Australian continent. Life is good for me here, as I hope it is for everyone else, but that doesn't mean we live in changing times under an increasingly corrupt government. I don't know if I would have it better in the U.K., but I know in the time I spent there, I loved the people because they were just very simple. For the most part, most people in the U.K. just wanna make it to the pub at night to lounge with friends - just an easy low-drama lifestyle.

@ Delited - No, actually I loved my time in the military. I worked primarily in the intelligence field and it's a small world. So you never had to really say goodbye to the good people in your life because you'd be sure to meet them again. The mission was fun and most of my experiences were awesome, plus it was a great springboard for me into the IT career field - A brotha is very fortunate, I really am. So I'm thankful and grateful for what I got out of the uniform. My very best friend is a Marine cat that I met overseas - Haitian brotha.. he now lives down the street from me and we work in the same exact office. The military gave me a best friend to the grave..

Bee Gee said...

^doesn't mean we don't live in changing times..

Whoever said he stomped on this flag is really REACHING for a story. The person holding the flag accidentally dropped it and lil Wayne kept on singing, dancing and moving, ignoring the fact that the flag fell. This portion of footage doesn't indicate he was stomping on a flag.
