Toni Braxton Loses Rights to Several Songs

Earlier this month Toni Braxton settled her 2010 bankruptcy case and was given the option to purchase back music rights she lost during restructuring [click here if you missed that].

Unfortunately, she was out bid...

Toni Braxton lost the rights to 27 of her songs including 'You're Making Me High," "How Many Ways," and "Always."

The block of songs went on the auction block for $20k but according to TMZ a guy named Ross M. Klein swooped in doubled Toni's bid and walk off with a treasure trove of hits.

"Unbreak My Heart" was not part of the package.

Seems like she lost her best songs!

That's money her great great grandkids could have had. Generational money lost to a white man. Toni should have anticipated this possibility and had her money up. Instead money she and her progeny could have had into perpetuity is gone. Huge loss!

That International Chik says:

Just the fact the folks are hovering around like vultures coveting her assets is a "Cot-damn" shame. FOH man!

Poor Toni..she can't seem to catch break.

that's shitty, she sang the songs , worked hard on them , poured her heart out and she can't even make money off them??? this is the stupidest law, I think all music should always have a certain percentage that belongs to the original artist. This is a damn shame ...

Tamar and the rest of the "family" should have stepped up. IJS

No they shouldn't. Toni is an adult and that's her responsibility. This happens all the time in family situations where people feel like the one with more money should bail out everybody else. No YOU should be responsible and save instead of splurging on foolish things.

^^^^ Wow! You must have watched that episode of Oprah when she talked about Toni's expensive dishes. Let's not forget that Toni carried that family for years.

That was a huge L for her team.... Unlike smoke&mirror Beyonce, her catalog will actually be worth something in 20years.

I can't believe no one helped her on this one. I wouldn't be surprised if the man was a buyer for someone else she knows.

Hey, that's how Michael Jackson got majority of the Beatles' catalog, he outbids McCartney and company .Michael and Paul never gotten along since then.

9:33, Tamar and them owe her. They would not have been famous without her. There would not a Braxton's family values, Tamar & Vince, Love and War, The Real or any of the entertainment things that they do or have done. Hell, I highly doubt that Tamar would have even been married to Vince had it not been for Toni's fame, but they only support Toni when it is convinent for them. Remember when she was being inducted in the GA Hall of Fame and those bitches could not put their attitude aside to put together a performance for her. Folks always want to bite the hand that feeds them. SMDH.

Tamar always talking about how rich Vince is plus he use to manage toni, he couldn't of helped her out, then she pay him back afterwards or something? It's not that Vince owes her or anything but they are family and family help each other out when they can.

A damn shame!

I got hip to TB's crossover appeal in the workplace. A middle-aged, white guy (alpha-male type) played "Unbreak My Heart" at least 3x EVERY F*CKING DAY!

Toni was groomed for cross over. Look at her 1st album cover. That heffa ain't never been that light skin. I know plenty if white people who like Toni.

I think Toni has too much pride. She seems like the type that wouldn't accept help even if it was offered. No way should she lose rights to HER damn work smh

______
Ummm you DO know that Toni fired Vince right? I wouldn't have helped her after that either.

If that is my sister, I am her keeper. Yes, she was foolish with her money, but she put her sisters on. They were her backup singers and they were on her payroll. Regardless, of the internal family issue, blood is blood. Tamar could have helped with additional funds and request a percentage owners based on what she gave or asked for her money back. I highly doubt that Braxton sisters would be on TV if it was not for Toni. Family is family

He mad because he got fired. Ross Klein is Vincent Herbert...hopefully. I know she fired him, but that was business. She's still his family though. Maybe Vince did it anonymously to teach her a lesson and will reveal it to her later and allow her to purchase the rights to the songs from him over time. Okay yall..... that shit sounds like a fairy tale. LOL. So sad. That's sad for her though....

@ 6:51 a.m.: Who said it was a white man that purchased the songs?? That's what's wrong with black folks now...always blaming ish on "the white man" instead of taking responsibility for our own actions. Smh

Idiot! Song writes are the best way to hold on to wealth. As Paul McCartney he taught Michael Jackson that is a great way for artists to keep wealth.

Im a huge fan of the Braxtons. My thoughts are yes it never should've went down like that. It's not a matter of Tamar coming 2 her sisters rescue. That was a matter of business that wasn't worth lossing behind 20k when your wealth is triple that. We all know that Toni's health was a big part of her not coming on with more albums. Not to mention her sons health. So yes I most definitely think that was a matter for the family 2 pull together and keep what she worked so hard for...Those songs put the "T" n Toni....I feel so bad 4 her.
