Dave Chappelle Heckled Off Stage in Hartford

Earlier this year Dave Chappelle announced he was ending his self imposed hiatus and returning to the stage for a stand up comedy tour [click here if you missed that].

Last night things went horribly horribly wrong...

According to reports Dave's set at the Comcast Theater in Hartford, CT went from bad to worse after Dave abruptly stopped his routine and sat on a stool smoking a cigarette because the crowd would not be quiet.

Witnesses claim David sat starring at the crowd for 25 minutes before walking off stage telling them he was done with comedy and was leaving to go cash his check.

Video from the set below.

I was there. Dave acted like a prima donna, demanding silence of 7000 people before he would continue. When that didn't happen, he sat down, pulled out his smokes and made random observations and engaged in a conversation with a woman about her time in prison. Acting like a little bitch is not a good look Dave, just saying....

i saw his show in july, he was pretty funny...same ol' dave. he chained smoked the whole time, but asked too many questions from the audience, like he ran out of material before his set was supposed to end. oh well, i enjoyed it nonetheless.

these are former comedy central executives hirees sent to sabotage his performance. We all know Dave is Brilliant, Funny and NOT Crazy

@1:44, You are seriously reaching.

Dave's time has come and gone. There are not many comedians who can maintain the same level of popularity through different eras.

This is why Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, Chris Tucker, and a bunch of others branched into movies and TV. The public is fickle and tastes change.

Dave needs to evolve if he wants to rebuild his stand up career. He can't be telling the same jokes he was dishing out in the 90s.

Here's what Dave had to say.... “Tonight, my contract say 25-minutes and I only have three-minutes left. And when my three-minutes is up, my ass is gone. I’m going straight to the bank and I’m going to do a bank deposit.”

i love me some dave Chapelle but seriously at this point hes just shitting on his fans with no remorse if u dont want to perform THEN DONT no 1 is forcing u! These famous black men get the fame and $$ they ask for then turn and shit on their fans and say that they are being made into slaves by hollywood!! Fuck outta here with that work a reg 9-5 making reg $ and maybe you'll be more humble and greatful for ur blessings

@4:46
He too swole to be funny... Muscular men dont make good comedians, it's only the short, skinny, fat, gay, bald who have success

He would've got booed from Amateur Night at the Apollo for this so there's really nothing racial about . He wasn't in top firm and it showed.

Some comedians are better at Sketch Comedy than they are at Stand-Up. Don't believe me ,ask Michael Richards.

I went to see Dave back in June, he was in Atlanta. It was the worst comedy show Ive ever been to. I actually fell asleep during his set. I was so disappointed but not surprised. Dave Chappelle is NOT funny at all.

Obviously this return of his is money motivated and not because was ready to come back to stand up comedy. If he no longer has love for what he did, then he should've invested in something else that he loves to do, that will make him money.

Ya know what's sad? I have better material and I'm not no damn comedian. Most of yall on here are better comedians than Dave. Maybe he should visit this site to get some good material. LOL!!!

I guess his heydays are over

Yeah times have changed; peeps have lower attention spans than ever before. it doesn't help that guys like Kevin hart use their voice and shock value for ratings... I would say Chappelle should stay in the background writing like Paul Mooney- or tour in Canada...

@ 1:26 PM

But why can't people be silent? I don't want to make an assumption on the situation but I've been to comedy shows where people try to have full all out conversations with people next to them.

I'm asking myself the same question! I'm assuming they paid to hear him perform. So it seems a bit beyond ignorant not to be quiet, when he asked them to.

Dave did the right thing.
