Will Smith in Talks for Independence Day II

Will Smith is in talks to film a sequel to his 1996 blockbuster, Independence Day, after initially pricing himself out of the deal...

Back in 2011 when Will Smith was still Mr. Box Office two Independence Day sequels got shut down because Will demanded $50 million to shoot ID II and III back to back [click here if you missed that].

Well that was then and this is now. In a recent interview Independence Day director Roland Emmerich let slip he and Will have been in talks.

Emmerich revealed,
"It's changing every month. To put a sequel together of that magnitude is an enormous undertaking. I sometimes say, 'No, Will Smith will not be in it,' because he didn't want to do it at first. Now we have a meeting planned, we want to talk about it again. Anything can happen."
The first Independence Day cost $75 million to make and was the highest-grossing film of 1996 pulling in a whopping 104.3 million first week. ID went on to make $817,400,891 world wide.
