Johannesburg Press Rips RiRi a New One

Rihanna made history at her concert in Johannesburg SA last Sunday, becoming the youngest person ever to sell out the 67k seat FNB Stadium, but the local news dubbed her show a rip off...

From The Star SA
SUNDAY night’s Rihanna concert has left some fans complaining of lip-synching and a below-par performance.
She was trending on Twitter yesterday morning after her performance at the FNB Stadium on Sunday night, with a mix of adoring messages and not-so-glowing reviews.
The latter included allegations that Rihanna was miming some of her songs, did not do a single costume change, had not performed some of her biggest hits and lacked vitality. “It’s obvious, you know when someone is lip-synching – I was in the Golden Circle, I could see it,” said Sharon Seretlo, a photographer at The Star.
“I’m a diehard Rihanna fan but I was disappointed,” she said. “It was like she didn’t give the energy we wanted from her.”
Another fan said: “I think she was actually lip-synching because, at some points, the words of the song were happening but she wasn’t singing along. I don’t know if she was doing it for the whole show.”
Another fan, Nicole Contini, said there were other problems. “She had the song choruses playing in the background and sung over them – you knew she was singing because she wasn’t always on key,” she said. “I wasn’t too surprised as I know she’s a recording artist and her performances aren’t very strong.
“Having said that, I don’t feel the ticket prices were fair considering the level of performance,” Contini said.

Yet you dummies still wasted your money attending the show. This is nothing new. We all know that she can't sing and she she can't dance, yet you idiots continue to support the vile bitch. Don't complain now, she already absconded with your hard earned funds, so STHU.

my boo stay making hisRIH and these sites say her fans always complain but they always show up to her shows in droves - can't make everybody happy but from the tapes I have seen from the show she did a great job - don't seem like she was lip syncing and don't think she could really change her clothes that stadium was huge just the stage was the size of a football field

Its clearly obvious she needs a break. I think her catalogue is strong enough for her to take a step back, actually maybe five! I hope after this tour she takes a year off or how much time is needed for herself. To be honest I need a break from her! Whatever happened to singers being heard, but not really seen much. The age of celbrityism has gone too far. I don't need to see her coming out of her hotel with an update of what she has on. Unless its a fashion blog I find it pointless.

That Reign is still going strong! Selling out stadiums, 2nd only to Madonna for most #1 dance hits, goes platinum with each album, fashion icon, loved the world over....for all this talk about her being "untalented", "fading", "Miley's taking her spot!", etc., etc., NONE of it has stopped her roll! Rihanna is here to stay. If she was going to fade away, she would've done it after "S.O.S.", or "Umbrella". Going on 10 years in the game and only gets more powerful and popular with each passing year! Get used to seeing her for a LONG time! She's not going ANYWHERE!

She is doing to good, breaking records and making history
for being the youngest to accomplish this, the hate is expected.
And the trouble makers who are working over time to keep the negativity following her will get worn down. Because like all good things do come to a end, shortly that tour will be over, and who are they going after then.

This isn't a sprint for her its a Marathon.

Shes one young artist, who has really been able to stay in the race.

She is in so many people heads.

The Star has followed her and Ripped her from the very beginning, they love making things she do as bad as ever. Let us see how she comes out when it's all said and done.
If its not a media outlet, ripping her, its her haters so its a lose, situation with her. She just need to keep doing what she is doing because after all many has been after her every since she out lasted her fifteen minutes.
The more the Media goes after her the more strength and courage she will get to stay with her foot to their necks.

Time is on her side and she has what it takes
to never stop, but to keep going.

This is the perfect example of what a person can do with limited, money, talent.
She has a rags to riches story that is a best seller.
I can understand and she does too ,why people are mad and upset.

She has had great chart success, shes making great music. Shes smart, young, beautiful and has already made in the the game.
Rapping this tour she can take some time off and chill, get her movie career on track and by all means give her many secret admirers and the star something to write about.

Still go many things she want to get done.

Okay it is clear to me there is one rabid a$$ Rihanna fan in here on double duty.

We get it. Chill out. I like Rihanna too. I also agree with the comments about her needing a damn break. She's interesting enough to keep her fans entertained even while she takes a break from music. Folks lost their minds over that RiRi Loves MAC collection, so it's obvious she is someone who is in high demand. Personally, I would love to see a reggae album from Rihanna because she would kill it, bring it back to life and kill it again. I know it would never happen though because reggae is not mainstream ($$$) enough. But, I digress.

Keep paying attention to how the American girls do it Rihanna, and you will keep right on making things happen for you.

The stupid navy nut who keeps posting shit over and over again about how Ritard is the greatest thing since sliced bread really needs a life. You're not fooling anyone. We know you're the same idiot posting over and over again.

It's cute to like an Artist but dayummm with this Rhianna d*ck riding???? This hoe is the biggest rip off in the industry. Shows up late, curses out fans, hits them with microphones ect.. Does she even do any type of philanthropic work?? I wouldn't give this ingrate $1. All she can get from me is a comment about how much I think she's an undeserving, overrated, assembely line popstar who will learn the hard way!!!

This is funny and this is why I don't ever believe the hype surrounding this hyenna... Rihanna has permanent brain damage from dropping acid she can't remember the lyrics to her songs let alone sing on key and read a teleprompter this chicks egg is fried YO!

Riri need to lay off the drugs and hard parting and take her job as an entertainer seriously, in that pour it up video she was as high as a damn kite. if you want longevity in this business, you can't be strung out on dope, you wind up dead or looking like Iggy Pop and Keith Richards who look like living dead corpse. I notice whenever a blog you offer constructive criticism her little delusional minions, want to engage in an e-battle on behalf of their little demi god fucking up. but real talk she needs to get her shit together. this coming from a fan.

Anonymous said...

Yet you are still a fan and you will pay AGAIN to see Riri rip you off. This was not a diss just some fan-child with her lips pouted.

As it has been stated before, the haters will not bring Rihanna down like her fans will and can bring her down with statements about her lackluster concerts (haters don't pay her). Congrats to her for setting records on the sellout but she needs to put some energy into her money maker, her concerts. I guess we will be hearing about her being sicks or under the weather to explain the lipsynching and lack of energy. I always hear complaints that she don't do her hits during her concert, she does has great album cuts but this is the age of iTunes where they only want to hear the songs on the radio.

The thing these performers don't get is that yes they are rich and therefore powerful but at the end of the day if the audience says jump, you better jump bitch ! they still want you to act a fool and put on a show, Bouncy got this down she gives them all the energy she got and all the ridiculous moves she can to please them. Rhitard needs to get the message , you work for the PUBLIC ho, now jump! And no you can't just stand and sing and SLAY like Sade and Whitney, you need to bump and grind girl...

Anonymous said...

So what? If she did another show there tomorrow, it would be sold out AGAIN. Minus the writer of the article.
