TLC Biopic Pushes Album Sales

T-Boz and Chilli dropped their 20th anniversary album '20' featuring TLC's greatest hits plus their new single Meant to Be one week before their biopic Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story aired on VH1 and lets just say this: The film DEFINITELY helped boost sales...

In its first week 20 debuted at #72 on the Billboard charts with a modest 5,000 copies sold.

However one week following the airing of Crazy Sexy Cool 20 shot up to number 12 on chart selling 26,000 albums total.

#12 with 20k sold? Wow! I remember the days when selling that amount would land you almost near the very bottom of the charts! The internet has definitely changed the music scene, for both better(accessibility, choose the songs you want) and worse(the artists' sales, quality of music being put out).

Anyway...didn't see the biopic, but congrats to the chart boost.

Good for them. Maybe this in some way will help to make up for the millions Perri stole from them

But greatest hits albums never sell that well because usually when top selling acts release greatest hits albums, their core fan base already has all the songs on the LP so there would be no reason to buy it.

I'm going to buy it. We love you TLC and wish you all the success and may God restore what was due you! You girls are very positive chicks!

The movie was much better than expected in my opinion and particularly the performance of lil mama/Niatia Kirkland.

I wonder if Pebbles will come out with a greatest hits album? The only one that would buy it will be the uncle that defended Pebbles!

I am with the other poster, I also listened to FanMail, for the last few days, that entire album is dope, let me be honest I was never a TLC fan but it was something about that movie that just turned me on to them....them ladies are dope. Hell back in the day I was a fan of the original members of Destiny Child....but TLC has won me over congrats to the ladies...
