Chris Tucker Working on New Friday Movie

In a recent interview Chris Tucker says he's working with Ice Cube to come up with a new Friday script...

Asked if he was willing to do another Friday Chris Tucker tells Sway on Shade 45,
“I’m actually trying to help [the studio] come up with some ideas and be apart of the producing process with Cube to see if we can come up with something, so that might happen.”
“If I do a movie like Friday again it has to evolve. I evolved from Smokey when I was that age when I did that movie, from when I did Fifth Elementor even the first Rush Hour. So, every character I look at now I’m like can I play it because where I am right now, because I pull a lot from real life. I put a lot of myself in the characters.”

I've had a great idea on my mind for the Smokey character for the past 5 yrs or so. I agree he shouldn't be the same old Smokey. But I am just lil ol me with no industry connects, dayum.

CHRIS TUCKER IS HELL OF FUNNY AND INTELLIGENT
LETS HOPE HE PORTRAYS THAT CHARACTER IN THE NEW
FRIDAY

I thought he said he was above the Friday series and he was too talented to be working in "chitlin circuit" movies?

I guess all those so-called principles go out the window when the checks stop coming in.

By no means does this movie necessitate sequels. All I'm seeing is NO NEW IDEAS as has come to be the norm. Grow-up folks, though this movie was funny for it's time, I cannot see it translating into current times, "evolving character" or not.

He's not funny anymore... Lost his mojo when he found Jesus

Kevin Hart has his career now.

Meh. The Friday franchise should have stopped after the second installment, but that's Hollywood for you. Always beating a dead horse. There is nothing left in that franchise. It's silly. Now, I do believe Chris Tucker can make a comeback because he is talented. I loved him in Dead Presidents - that entire movie, cast and storyline was excellent and so underrated. So many folks slept on that gem of a movie. I loved it. Where are all of the good black actors? Can we please bring back Larenz Tate and Allen Payne?

@8:16
He was a coon but he was never a druggy or alkie. He actually comes from a deeply religious family believe it or not? He went through a dchappelle episode where he began to see how Hollywood was systematically emasculating the black American male image on celluloid and he probably looked back on Jackie brown, the fifth element and was disgusted with himself. I always liked him in dead presidents where he had a chance to inject comedy into dramatic scenes.

He's basically saying

"Y'all niggas got me twisted if you think you gone still see Smoke dawg runnin up and down the block tryna get high and dodge bullets.."

omg 9:22 now you have me reminiscing... juice, dead presidents, set it off.. ahh the good ol days..now THAT was true hollywood ingenuity that actually utilized real, up and coming, raw, black talent. I would rather even see those weak janet jackson movies again over this new contrived "trying not to showcase stereotypical black folks (but they still somehow are)" storylines characters and plots.

@8:16 I will be glad when we are done with Kevin Shart. He isn't even funny and plays the same damn character in everything he does. All that loud talking and obnoxious behavior is just plain annoying. I want my Dave Chappelle, Katt Willams & now I'm getting my Chris Tucker back. I will be glad when the next funny black man comes along and put Kevin Shart back were he belongs.....off my t.v. screen.

.... after seeing the $100 million dollar success of Ice Cube's "Ride Along" he (Chris) has some ideas. Fuc outta here Smokey.

Nah, Tucker has to work his way back into folks spending money on him, basically, building an audience again. We all looked forward to him hosting the BET awards. Dude was so dry and corny. One point, he went missing for like an hour. I think he knew he was going down as the worst host in the history of award shows.

Chris shitted on Friday so his career has come full circle. He's going to have to go the indie movie route or take scale pay. He aint getting millions at all for whatever project he works on next. He doesn't have a recent body of work. I couldn't land an IT job off experience from 10 years ago with no IT job since then to support it.

Yeah we all know his name, so he already has a foot in the door, but he could never command the money he was once making, not even half of that. You can't up and disappear; u have to stay relevant, do guest spots, cameos, etc. Tucker all but disappeared...and worked.

After the flop of a career that niggas had since the first Friday shit he should be on Friday Pt. 10 by now.

SMH I can't even believe it's still grown ass muthafuckas out here that still want to see Smokey's character in Friday. Give it up niggas and grow the fuck up.

Yes I was thoroughly disappointed in his hosting of that award show..i like Chris tucker and I just felt so bad for him..he does have to evolve from Smokey..it's a wrap on that one..he was good in dead presidents..dramatic comedy should be his new forte..lots of love and luck to him anyway

I'm sure alot of you may see it as hating, BUT Kevin Hart ain't funny & Smokey really never was, HE JUST HAD THE VOICE, like Chris Rock, BUT Rock is hella funny. However, I do agree with him about the character evolving tho. For those that don't know, at one point in time Chris Tucker was getting $20-25milly a movie & was one of the HIGHEST PAID ACTORS & for those that don't know AFRICAN AMERICAN movies don't get that kinda budget, minus the exception for a few. My point is, when he became a born again Christian & was making that HOLLYWOOD MONEY, it was, NO I'm not doing another Friday, but now that his money is funny & he ain't, the NINJA wanna do another Friday. BYE SMOKEY!!!
