Vybz Kartel Sentenced to Life in Prison

Last month dancehall reggae star Vybz Kartel was convicted of murder in the beating death of Clive Williams [click here if you missed that].

Yesterday Vybz received his sentence and will spend at least the next 35 years behind bars...

Vybz Kartel and his three co-defendants were sentenced to life in prison with possibility for parole after 35 years.

One juror from the trial, the only dissenting voice, was arrested for attempting to bribe the other jurors to come back with a not guilty verdict.

35 years ain't life. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. They got what they deserved tho. What a HEINOUS act.

Well damn. In the mean time he'll be fading back to black. Crazy how he was locked up for marijuana possession, and caught all the murder charges on the same case. That doesn't make sense.

There were so many holes in the case, this conviction was just foolish!, but my mother explained to me in Jamaica a 65 day trial cost the island a ton of money, they were going to convict him one way or the other simply because of that.
Family and friends are telling Jamaica is in an uproar, riots, burning down buildings...outside the tourist spots, it's not safe!

Uproar and riot, for what? Do you think he is innocent? I am Jamaican and I think this is a sad case BUT many people go around with this god like aura and think they are untouchable (including authority/police/militar). They get a little power and become gunmen. It's unfortunate that he destroyed his life but more unfortunate that he took the life of a man that had a family, chopped him up, and fed him to the dogs. Who cares if he's the 'world boss'...murdera, blood is on your shoulders. Yes, he has done a lot for his parish and the reggae scene, but his bad choices are his.

Peoples lives have been threatened standing against him...would people really sacrafice all just to have a quick conviction of an innocent man? You don't get away with much in JA, with the gunman and currupt cops. Why the risk? We need to stop this bullshit.

This is 9:15AM

And it's not just Kartel...athletes, performers, artists that can't let go of life, even though they have so much to lose. Why the sacrifice? For what? Then we as blacks start insulting eachother when people break out and move out. SMH

The people in JA are only pulling for him because they love his music. 1/2 of those people are only yelling innocent because the person beside them is. The corruption in Jamaica is crazy and a lot of people get away with murder literally.

@9:15 I'm Jamaican as well and I was sad to hear about everything from the conviction to the riots. I do believe he's guilty and did commit the murder. And your %1000 right about the God Like aura, he was trying to pay members of jury off until that blew up in his...

In most cases a life sentence is 25 years unless they say the rest of your natural born life..
