Erykah Badu Under Fire for Swaziland Performance

Erykah Badu condemned by human rights groups after performing for a corrupt African monarch…

Erykah Badu performed for Swaziland's King Mswati's 46th birthday celebration, as a gift from notorious celebrity jeweler Jacob 'The Jeweler' Arabo.

Activists are outraged that the socially conscious singer could be so insensitive.

In a statement to the media The Human Rights Foundation demanded answers.
"She owes us all an explanation. The king is a kleptocrat who lives in the lap of obscene luxury while most of his countrymen toil in abject poverty for less than $2 a day."
"She claims to want to improve the lives of the disenfranchised and impoverished, but unapologetically does favours for a corrupt tyrant who jails those who challenge his ill-gotten wealth and power."
Erykah Badu believes she is being used by political leaders to further their own agendas.
